Ochocinco fined, again.
Although this has nothing to do with our beloved Dolphins, the NFL will not stop fining Ochocinco. 30 grand for wearing a hat?!?! REALLY?!?!
It seems that the NFL wants Ochocinco to eat crap during the game, so thay can make money off him. They probably have gotten more money out of him than the Cowboys have out of the attendance in their new stadium. They are fining him JUST because he is Ochocinco.
I bet if Brian Hartline did it, he would have gotten fined a lot less or not at all for this.

They are ridiculous
Let the game of football have some fun! I guarentee noone was offended! And what fun is it to score and every walks in a single file line to the bench. Becase that is what this game is coming too.
"JT is back!"
The only problem with "letting them have some fun" is where is the line to be drawn?
NFL players are like teenage kids….and for those of you that haven’t been parents to teenagers you will know what I am talking about when you do…..they will take everything that you allow them to have and then fight you for any and everything else possible.
So where does the line for the fun stop….and distaste start? That would be a matter of opinion of the individual and everything would probably offend someone so I don’t blame the NFL for taking a hardline stance. If it is that valuable to the player, they are still going to do it. I mean really, what’s 30K to Chad? It’s about $3.00 to the average person. Believe me if I really wanted to do something or say something, I am not going to let $3.00 stop me. He is a big boy and knows the reprocussions for his “antics”.
Now me personally, I like Chad and enjoy watching him to see what stunt he is going to pull next. As long as he continues to be willing to pay the fines, I am willing to watch him!!

how about
Players can do any celebration they want to on the sidelines as long as they are not using obscene guestures or anything on that level. As long as it doesn’t last for 10 minutes and bogs down the game, no one would care.

I don't know what the line would be brother
But I do understand why the NFL has the rules that they do. It is hard to keep athletes, who are more starved for attention than 99% of people out there, from going overboard. I don’t have a problem with the fines as long as they go to either a good charity or the retired players fund.

Don't know if anyone else saw it
but Ochocinco didn’t even put the hat on, he was going to the bench and what appeared to be a coach or trainer on the team put it on his head, and then he just walked a little and let it fall the the ground. Its not like he ran and got it and put it on and did backflips in the endzone (even tho I would be all for seeing that).
This is such a great example of how the NFL is becoming...
The No Fun League. I mean honestly, let the guy celebrate if he wants, let players get creative with their celebrations, as long as it isn’t offensive and doesn’t slow down the game, what does it matter?
exactly
I dont recall, but when TO grabbed the ball and ran it from the endzone to the 50 yard line to plant it on the cowboy start, did he get a fine? Personally I think that’s even more deserving of a fine than for wearing a sombrero on the sideline.
He did get fined for that I believe
and Chad has to realize that the NFL is gonna fine him for the costumes and the celebrations and the antics, and just because it’s funny doesn’t mean he’s not gonna get fined. If he wants to keep paying for it, I’ll keep laughing though.

That's exactly it though.
If T.O. does get fined for that no one has a problem with it because people don’t like T.O. Chad knows that when he does stuff like that he is going to get fined no matter how funny it is. Just because he is a likeable guy doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t be treated like a player who isn’t as well liked. His fine was so substantial, because as Matty said it’s the number of offenses not necessarily that offense.
got a question..where does the money go..seriously?....should go to...
the veterans and past players…..Does anyone know how its distributed?.

I believe it goes to charity...
"Player fines collected by the league are used to support the NFLPA Players Assistance Trust and charitable initiatives supporting youth, education and sports-related medical research."
That was from NFL Spokesman Greg Aiello……
It's better to keep your mouth shut and make people think your dumb, then to open it and remove all doubt..
i have feelings both ways about the subject
my first look is that its not like he’s flozel adams from dallas whos been fined four or five times now for fights started during th game, or personal fouls, cheap shots, etc. It’s clear to me that Ochocinco is just having fun.
my second approach on it is that this is a job. You wouldn’t nor shouldnt see a principal or teacher dress up like that on a school day, for example. It’s part of being a professional that the silly stuff sometimes has to end, even if it doesn’t harm anyone. I know if I were a boss and my employee came to work goofing off, i’d be upset.
but then again, professional sports are an entertainment business to a degree. But to me, its entertainment on the field, and I really could careless about what a player (like Ochocinco) does on the sidelines. As long as he doesnt enter the game wearing a sombrero…I think he’s okay because I pay attention to the game, not the sidelines.
