In defense of Pat White
Now before everybody jumps my case understand that I get frustrated too when Pat comes in at the wrong times. Just hear me out. Since I'm a life long Dolphin and WVU fan I'm excited at the possibilities but right now he's no more than a back up . But two thing for those who don't know until he get the game to slow down for him defenses are gonna stack the box and since he rarely plays he's just going on what he thinks he sees plus at WVU they ran a zone blocking scheme so he knew exactly where the hole was. I do feel he'll get better and what you saw in college will transform to the pro level it's just gonna take time. But one thing I still wish they would do is let him put the gloves back on it may sound trivial but alot of what he had in training camp as far as his accuracy went away when they had him take off the gloves. I'm not saying he can't throw without them he's just gotta learn how again.
His first three years he didn't wear them but he said himself he put them on one game (cold weather) and like they way they helped he chose not to take them off. And before you ask yes he was just as accurate before he put them on.

I think he definitely needs some time to do 2 things
A) bulk up a little bit. He’s always gonna be short, but he needs to not be so frail and be able to take a few hits so he can be successful tucking and running, and
B) learn how to be an NFL QB.
If he’s able to play in the base offense, then we’ll be able to run a spread scheme with him, and jump into the base offense if the defense doesn’t stay disciplined with personnel. I do think, however, that his future with this team is as a “gimmicky” weapon, running a spread option-inspired scheme as a change of pace when the regular offense is stalling or when we see something we like in a matchup.
One thing I will take issue with in your post is this.
…plus at WVU they ran a zone blocking scheme so he knew exactly where the hole was.
In a zone blocking scheme, there is no designated hole, you have to read the blocks on the move and decide where to cut, so he shouldn’t have any problem finding a hole that’s designed when he was able to find holes on the move.

My response

Whenever White comes in its the wrong time
I probably know Judo! How many of you can make the same boast?
No that's not the case
I honestly feel that if they would bring him in once a half, at the beginning of the drive and let him play at least 3 downs and get a little bit of playing time ( at least 6 downs with more if he can move the offense on those drives). This would allow him to both run, hand off, and pass the ball each drive. It will eliminate the perceived “rhythem breaking” that people think his entrance causes to Henne. They may even want to run it as a no huddle so the personnel “change” might catch the defense off guard. It might even get them to burn a timeout unnecessarily.
I think that this way of getting him on the field doesn’t hurt Henne as many claim and it allows a few plays in a row so that maybe it will seem like he is playing instead of worrying about “ok please don’t let me screw this up”. Any thoughts?

The thing with White is that the coaching staff has made it too predictable
when he comes in. Everybody in the stadium knows he is going to run or hand off the ball to the RB. If they insist on bringing him in to the game, they have to let him throw the ball to force the defense to stay honest.
Massaquoi was still there when we picked White. EPIC FAIL
And also let him run exclusively out of the shotgun.
He should learn in practice to take snaps under center, but for the purposes of a spread-option style offense for him, he should be in the shotgun. At least that way, he wouldn’t take 1.5 seconds to get the ball and step back and also he wouldn’t telegraph the handoff to the defense as much.
Dolphins and Gators baby!
Stop putting White in he is a drive killer more then a game changer.
Henne is now our leader. Lets see what the guy can do !

We need this pass D to STEP THE F UP and do what they get paid to do!
I guess that means you were frustrated when they drafted him
cause that was definately the wrong time to come in
I believe that he is a potential game changer (and for the better, not the worse)...
but he is not being used properly.
I can understand not risking your back-up QB if he is the only one back there, but we have Thigpen, so start using him as a slash in the line-up on misdirection reverses and smoke routes.
We’re short on receivers who can be active or make plays with their feet. He’s active. Use him as a WR/HB – Brian Westbrook type player.

i think that pat white should get more playing time running the option because he isn’t afraid to get hit, he has a nasty OLine, and he is fast.

??? How was this defending him?
He has to learn to throw again? Great!!! Better yet, the kid wears a special “concussion” helmet due to a head injury he received at WV.
This was a horrible pick when better WR and LB prospects were available. He was a luxury pick for a team that needs meat and potatoes, not a side dish of fru fru…
Hated the pick then and White has done nothing to make me change my opinion.
I would rather they bring Thigpen in. At least he has a little experience as both a QB and a WC guy from when he was with KC.
Yeah, It's got a Henne!

most of the league wears a "special concussion helmet"
it’s probably a year away from being mandatory that NFL players wear concussion resistant helmets.
