#1 Reciever

#1 reciever is almost a necessity if you want to have a premier passing attack or elite football team

Star-divide

A "#1 reciever" is a go to guy, hes the guy you want to get the ball to in critical situations, hes someone who will make plays for your team

some qualities of a true "#1 reciever" includes being a deep threat, courage to go across the middle , and getting yards after the catch.

But a #1 reciever isnt something you can just purchase and everthing will be ok.

You cant just anoint someone a   "#1 reciever"

A "#1 reciever"  isnt someone you can just spot out. A good example of this is roy williams which dallas invested a 1st and a 3rd round draft pick  to be their #1 reciever to be outplayed by an undrafted player in Miles Austin who is looking like a #1 more than Williams is, but a true number #1 has to have a chemistry with the quarterback something that just cant be forced so when you say we need a number one think about what that is exactly.

ps. i thought this pick was cool... you dont see that very often from tedMiami Dolphins wide reciever Ted Ginn, Jr, stiff arms New England Patriot cornerback Kyle Arrington.

Ted Ginn facepalm!

damn if only his eyes were open hahaha

And I agree, you can’t just call someone a #1 and hope it works out. You gotta find somebody that has the skill set and the desire to be that guy. Luckily for us, there are multiple #1 types that could be available for trade/signing this offseason, as well as a couple of potential studs in the draft.

look at new england they learned about the value of a number 1

The pats who have looked strong since 2001 clearly made a change when in one year they went after randy moss. they knew they lacked that one clear deep, absolute, incredible threat and went after him. it is quite clear that every premier offense has one. I do think that you can trade (tho i think its a terrible idea, unless there are moss, to implications where there are problems with the team- becuz ur gonna give up a lot i.e. roy williams). i think we should go after one in fa if possible i know colston, marshall and a couple other possible ones are available. but yes, we need a #1 and he needs to be tall.

I agree that trading is a terrible idea

unless you are getting a STUD. Andre Johnson, Miles Austin, Anquan Boldin, I would trade for those guys because whatever picks you give up, you know you weren’t gonna get a better player at that pick more than likely (like, 95% likely).

I wish we would've traded for Boldin

WE are Lokking in to "ALL" options at this time

Good new Mike Dee’s Gonna be pushing for Boldin
we will shell out the $ for him

by Acemmett on Dec 7, 2009 9:00 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Dee is in charge of business development

marketing, and sales for the team and stadium. I don’t think he has much say in personnel, and Ross has said he will stay out of Parcells way and let the man do what he does. The only guys IMO that can say for sure who we will go after are BP and Ireland.

I'm sure he does

I just wonder if what he wants is really taken into account by the FO that’s all. Wish we could listen on these meetings so we didn’t have to mindlessly speculate like this lol

I agree with Nicky. I think what Parcells and Ireland say is all that

really matters. I am sure that a lot of people from the organization are in those meetings but only two opinions count.

Boldin is not a Spring Chicken any more

And the way he plays takes a toll on his body. I enjoy Boldin, and think he can help the Phins. But it may only be for 1-2 years that he puts up these types of numbers. If he stays at Arizona or is put in a situation where there is another good WR, then he will continue to thrive. Look at T.J Houshmazelii, granted SEA has its problems but no more Ocho really hurts him.

I would rather have Marshall over Boldin

Boldin seems to be hurt alot, and Marshall may have his days outside of football where he should shape up, but he stays healthy!

Not sold on Miles Austin

He has has a few great games but then other games I watch, he virtually disappears. And it wasn’t like he disappeared in lew of an overpowering running game. Johnson, or Boldin are better options in my opinion and Boldin worries me with his age.

What happened to all the Bowe support? There is something to be said about Bowe being younger then Boldin.

Henne is now our leader. Lets see what the guy can do !

Miles Austin and Roy Williams

Williams can be a true number one, he is starting to come on late in Dallas. As you mentioned it is about timing and chemistry with the QB and offense, Williams has not had as much time as Austin has in the offense and with Romo.

I think Austin is showing a lot of, but he benefits from Roy Williams as well. Roy still demands coverage help and allows Austin to do what he is doing.

These are the type of players I am cautious of.

But....

Heres the thing, if we get Miles Austin, he will be the Roy williams of our team. He will demand extra coverage, leaving our other guys open. He may not post the numbers he is right now at Dallas, but if we got him. The overall completions we will reeive will increase. Ted wont have to worry about the over the top safety and CB. Bess will be more open to roam the field and Camarillo can still get his clutch catches. He opens it up for us and becomes a threat that defensive coordinators have to use game plans for. Plus at the very least he will draw the best corner from the opposing team instead of Teddy.

nice pic

I think his eyes were closed because he could’n even believe he did it . In regards to a #1 wr I think if we could get Bryant or Tate in the draft they are pretty safe picks and have that potential but if we go out and trade for a wide reciever Marshall would be the answer I like Boldin but he does not fit in with our young offense of tommorow.
