Film Expert Greg Cosell on Chad Henne
Every week on FantasyGuru.com, Greg Cosell breaks down seven or eight match-ups from the previous weekend based on extensive observation of the same game film used by real NFL coaches. Cosell is, in the estimation of many, one of the preeminent figures in the field not currently employed by an actual team. He's chosen to breakdown Miami film on a number of occasions, but it is not a given that he will do so every week. He has, however, taken a liking to our young signal caller, Chad Henne—his praises have grown in each passing week. Here are the highlights specifically for Henne:
Henne’s comfort in the pocket was evident on his first throw of the game.
Henne really firm in the pocket, oblivious to bodies around him – Showed the ability to progression read with awareness and decisiveness.
Henne great throw to Hartline for 25 yds in the second quarter, It came against “2 man” coverage on 2nd + 11; A stick throw into a very tight window, Not many NFL QBs even attempt that throw much less complete it – Henne continued to show the attributes that lead to quality QB play in the NFL.
Love Henne’s willingness to pull the trigger, he intuitively understands what open means in the NFL; I don’t think you can teach that – He’s a decisive and confident passer.
Henne also showed the intuitive ability to move and manipulate coverage with his head and body, also a critical attribute to be successful as an NFL QB.
On the ball Henne overthrew Bess in the third quarter Bess slowed down for no reason, It would have been a perfect throw if Bess did not throttle down.
Henne misread the coverage on his fourth quarter interception, he anticipated Cox running vertically with Hartline but he dropped off and sat on the out to Fasano – The defense did not react the way Henne anticipated they would.
I would highly recommend book marking and reading Cosell's weekly reviews, even those that are non-Dolphins related. Enjoy!

This is a damn fine feel good post.
I think he and the receivers are finally starting to gel, as well.
I hope he has a big game in Nashville on Sunday.

I always look forward to his breakdowns, the man knows his stuff.

I like how the man knocks D. Bess for his speed.
I can’t agree more. I don’t understand why Bess got both an end around and a deep ball last game… of course both plays failed miserably because he is so damn slow.

Unfair, unfair!
he was open on the deep ball, CH missed that one, still he isn’t fast I agree, he just gets open.

so slow
he is far to slow…. lol and he hesitates alot too…. expecially on punt returns
As far as I’m concerned, Henne already looks better than Ryan and Flacco. Give him a Roddy White, and his number sky rocket. He’s putting up damn good numbers the past couple of weeks with only one explosive WR (who can’t catch).

Better than Cutler, Cassel, and Rodgers, too
I think, anyway…

Ayup. Day by day, he is.

I agree that he’s not yet in the A. Rodgers class, but I’d absolutely take him over Cutler. And, he doesn’t have the weapons that Rodgers does.

After watching the Green Bay/Pittsburgh game last night
I must officially recant the statement that Henne as good or better that Rodgers.
Phuller, you and sister are right.
goo goo goojoob
C'mon...
look at the WR that Greenbay has, there’s NO ONE on the phins that as good as D. Driver and G. Jennings, NO ONE. Now i’m not saying Chad’s not a really good QB, and won’t get there, but A. Rodgers is sick and he does it with a suspect o-line. But i do think once the phins get a true #1, Chads going to be up there with the A.Rodgers and the P. Rivers of the NFL. If you really wanted to compare him to someone, i would look at the guys drafted ahead of him,and right now i would say he as good or better than M. Ryan, who has great WR to throw to,or J. Flacco who at least has someone in Mason you can call a #1 WR. What i’m trying to say is that Chad Henne does more with less, than though other two guy.
