Out of curiosity:

I was wondering, who here actually plays football? Whether its with your friends, or for an actual league or something. Also, what position?

Who here thinks they have better hands than Ted Ginn?

I play football with my friends every day after school. I'm a QB/WR, and I honestly think I might have better hands then Ted Ginn.

Anyone else think the same? Do YOU have better hands than Teddy?

Remember, he uses gloves....

I think I do

I play with about 15 guys from work on Sundays before the game. And I honestly think I am a beast. Will be trying out for the local semipro team next season (Port St. Lucie Bobcats! Champions!)

I played receiver before I gave up football to concentrate on guitar

And yes, I would put good money down that I have better hands than Ted Ginn Jr. I think the reason he has poor hands is because he catches everything with his body. If you ever watch receivers run the combine passing gauntlet, you’ll notice they are graded down if they don’t try to get their hands out in front of their bodies when making the catch.

For the sake of comparison, watch Davone Bess’ hands when he’s making a reception: they are almost always out in front of his body. He’ll use his body once in a while if the pass is off or if he’s in a tight space, but generally Bess’ technique is solid.

Really???

I think some of you guys are living in the glory days … teddy would crush you in his sleep, I don’t even know if some of you guys would be able to catch the balls Henne throws with the speed he puts on it

I agree complelty. Any one who thinks they could be making those catches are crazy.

This isn’t playing after school with your friends or buddies from work….this is the NFL. They need to get real.

Settle down. This whole thread is a joke

It’s easy for any armchair quarterback to claim he can do something better than a pro, but you can’t really take it seriously.

Well you even claimed you could catch better than him and he is a professional athlete.

Unless you are planning on getting drafted into the NFL anytime soon, don’t talk.

I appreciate your insight on this board and everything

But calling out a thread where we are discussing our abilities vs. a PRO ATHLETE is behavior that borders on Gestapo-like. Of course we couldn’t do Ted’s job. We might have better TECHNIQUE than Ted, but it’s unlikely anyone here could hang on to a Henne pass while getting drilled by a free safety.

Well that's subjective now, isn't it?

Yeah, we’re going to replace a guy who runs a sub-4.3. Roger that!

I get what you’re saying but seriously, we’re talking about Phinsider members replacing Ted Ginn. Maybe we’ll be discovered playing flag football like Davone Bess.

obviously not your fault and nothing to apologize about

but the way people were commenting made it seem like it was serious and therefore ignorant. But if you say it is a joke, then I’ll take it as a joke.

Just graduated left tackle and middle linebacker

All conference led the league in sacks and tackles also the only black guy on my whole team haha ( well I’m half black and half white) and no no one here has hands like Teddy think about the sideline catch he made a few games back, none of us can catch that let alone with hennes velocity on it… I think I’m playing at university of new haven next year tsparanos old stomping grounds! Haha I met with the coaches they usta coach with sparano. They say he was a tough guy

Is it just me,

or did Ted Ginn have great hands in 2008? I think he still has it, but he had to learn to deal with fan/media bashing when things stopped going his way. I think he has matured mentally this season and will be a force in our postseason run.

I don't play football...but I have amazing hands....

I catch anything that comes my way….I can easily catch with one hand. My friends and I play after school and I’m usually QB/WR.

I play with my friends every few weeks

Some may call it football, but we probably look like a bunch of idiots. I’m the biggest one in the group and have been made running back/linebacker (think a much slower brandon jacobs/brandon spikes combo with far far less talent

i dont think his hands are his problem.......

……i think it’s his head….it’s not always “in the game”…….some games he’s “on” and some games he’s “off”………also, i don’t like the way he uses his eyes……he doesn’t eye the ball on the way in…a la jerry rice…..a la davone bess…………

his hands are not the problem…it’s his head……….

I agree

It is all about ATTITUDE
And little Teddy is just lacking in that area.
Santonio Holmes, Steve Smith (Carolina), Desean Jackson, Johnny Knox, they are all about the same size as Teddy or even smaller, but they want the ball and they do what it takes to go get it.

Abandoned the Draft Sean Smith at #25 Bandwagon to Join the Draft Sean Smith at #61 Bandwagon and get Vontae Davis and Chris Clemons. Trio > me.

I remember

When i was a young(er) stud, i had 4.3 speed….plus about 1 second, but anyway when you run fast, sometimes it’s hard to track the ball especially over your shoulder. But when there is a break or hitch, or curl, or anything where i could focus on the ball. it was as good as caught. It’s true speed kills…….your career if you can’t catch and play wr in the NFL. That’s why sprinters do not make it in the NFL. But i will say that Jackson guy from Philly is about as big as Ginn, but he is a beast!!!

i play everytime i get a chance

i normally play the slot receiver or the h-back/tightend position since im not really blazing speed but i am a pretty good route runner and can find the holes in a defence, on defence i play either the left corner or left slot receiver depending on the formation (obviously im more comfortable playing on the left side), while i aint blazing fast i have a good eye for what the receiver is running and the qb’s arm strength and accuracy since we been playing for years. i dont know how well my hands are but i like to compare them to chris chamber because i tend to make some really good catches but i would drop some easy ones.
