chad vs chad

so we've been ablt to see what henne has done this season. my question to you is, would we be in a better position if pennington hadnt gotten injured? everything else equal. ronnie going down and other lost starters. could pennington have led us to a 7-6 if he was healthy? personally, i dont believe he wcould have. i think henne is just what this team needed. i suppose the biggest test will be to see if henne can take us to the play-offs or possibly a repeat division title.  there are several times while henne has been on the field that i have said to myself "noway pennington makes that throw" other time i have said " pennington wouldnt have missed that throw". either way i say the future with henne looks bright. what do you think.

i agree

i think that pennington, for one, is i great QB, but with the receivers he had around him, you need a QB with a big arm, chad is the type of QB that is really best for a team with a west coast offens-type thing. he cant fire those intermediate passes that henne can.

with that said, henne has a lot of room for improvement, and he is becoming more accurate every week, and when he gets hot…. boy is he good. so yes, i agree

I think that a first year starter

(essentially a rookie) on a team that had Dan Marino as the QB for 17 seasons, and he is breaking records after 9 games if really exciting!!

i was on the "don't fix it if its not broken" wagon in preseason

but i wanted success in either chad. But henne brings a new attitude and spark to the offense because he is younger and not exposed (CP10 is known for a weak arm but crazy accuracy).
Henne has won us games without the wildcat, which really helped CP10 out of some losses last year.

Henne is 7-3. Pennington was 0-3.

I know it’s not THAT simple . . . but, I don’t think we have more than 5 wins with Pennington. Against good teams, you have to have some velocity on your passes. Pennington was great at maximizing his talent, but he’s just too limited to win consistently against good teams.

WOW! How the attitude about Henne playing has changed on this site in a few short months!

If anyone suggested, prior to the start of the season, that Henne gave the phins a better chance to win games, that person was berated by Penne backers (see Finx, WNYFF, myself, and a few others). Now everyone is on the bandwagon. The big question is would the phins have won one of the first three games of the year if Henne was the starter day one?

The question is no,

the first game EVERYONE played like crap, the Colts game the offense as a whole, even Ginn was unbelievable , Pennington was stupid clutch on 3rd down and had a great game. Last, the game against the Chargers was going well, specially the first drive where Ronnie fumbled in the end zone. Then he got injured. Im going to tell you what though, not even Marino would have won that game with the way the defense was giving up 40 yard plays every other snap.
However, yes, Henne has been great in a lot of games and have won games Pennington probably wouldn’t have. However, being objective, he’s also lost games Pennington would have probably won (NO and Buffalo for example)

If Henne was getting first-team reps going into week 1, we absolutely win at least one of our first three games. Even though Henne is still less polished than Pennington, the team has a different demeanor with Henne. Henne’s ability to get the ball down the field – even with a very limited set of WR’s – has made all the difference. It came to light the first three weeks that Pennington can only do so much against elite competition. After the first three weeks, our schedule hasn’t been much easier, and, again, we’re 7-3. I also think our team as a whole comes out with more energy against Atlanta if Henne is QB.

Good observation. The last sentence is just ridiculous though. By that time

Pennington was the undisputed leader of this team. What makes you think they would play for the “rookie” instead of for the guy who took them to the playoffs out of scrap.

I think that after the Baltimore debacle our team had a nagging suspicion – which they would never voice – that they’d seen Pennington max out. Obviously, it’s nothing more than speculation on my part.

Yeah that one was bad. Lots of blame on the non existing running game, O-Line play

and receivers too though. By the way, the way you finished your comment was way to mature for this site hahaha.

I was on the CP10 as starter through the pre season and even the 1st game. Durring the 2nd game I started seeing times where he just didnt look as good as I thought he was..

2 or 3 times I saw open receivers down field and CP10 failed to even see them.. (or decided not to hit them) and began wondering if he was hindering the offense. Who knows really. I do know that Henne has shown me he has the stuff to make us a good QB for a while to come. Im happy where we are right now with Henne.

The question is what happens to CP10 after this season?

Henne is now our leader. Lets see what the guy can do !

Tough Question ... I think we would still be in the same spot

While I have been really happy for Henne success espcially they way he has played in the last couple of games I’m not sure that it really would have change the overall picture of this team down the stretch.

The whole 0-3 arguement v. 7-3 is overblown as I don’t think we would have won any of the games earlier in the season (ATL, INDY, SD) if Henne started those games. Those were tough games and we should have actually won 2 of them IMO and didn’t lose those games because of Penningtons play.
