Ginn odd man out?

As many of us have come to realize, Chad Henne looks like he is going to be the QB of the future.  And his performance in the last two games have been great and something to write home about!  What makes the feet even more impressive is the fact that there is not a true number One WR on the field.

Which brings me to the point that others probably discussed breifly and I know the Sun-Sentinel has quickly addressed.  If in deed the FO drafts a WR in the first round of the 2010 draft who would be the odd man out?

Bess: I hope does not go anywhere, he is turning into a solid slot WR and a safety valve.  He has been pretty solid since his first game last year and would hope the FO feels the same.

Greg Camarillo: I was nervous for him after the ACL, I thought that the younger WR would pass him on the depth chart as he struggled to recover.  However this did not happen, and I don't think it has anything to do with Bess or Hartline not developing, but with GC holding his own determined not to slip in the depth chart

Hartline:  4th round pick this year, and he has come on strong.  He has some height, 6'2 and shown some great hands and work ethic.  He and GC are very similar players and being a draft pick and only one year in next year I do not see him being cut or traded.

Ginn:  As pure WR we have seen his play deminish, although since the decrease in snaps he as come up with a few great graps on the sideline (especially last two weeks) hes the veteran of the group and can only blame himself for not embracing his chances to be the starting/ go to WR.  His speed and return ability adds value as well, but is it enough to keep him.

Turner: Has huge hands, great size and decent speed.  Looking at him you have to say he looks like the true #1 that the Fins need. But being inactive for all but two games this season is difficult to feel any confident in.  Maybe hes a player that needs this time to develop and in order for him to catch up to the speed of the pro game.  Really there is not much to gauge him on, and being a 3rd draft pick I find it hard to see him not on the roster next year.

My thoughts, the FO can't get rid of Camarillo, Hartline or Bess.  They have shown a lot and proven to be a compliment to any true #1 that arrives in Miami.  Turner was a 3rd pick I do not see them giving up on him yet, and still hold out hope that it clicks, and he becomes the 6'5 monster that we all want here in Miami.  With all that said, Ginn seems to be a casualty.  Unless something happens contract wise or off the field with the others mentioned above Ginn seems gone.  Its tough for me to say this, because his speed is difficult to find as is a KR, but the hopes of him being a consistent 1000 yd WR is almost gone.  I just would hate him land with another team and the Fins regret letting his speed go.

So I fully hope, and would expect the FO to address this WR need in the off season.  There are a few players in the draft who fit the mold of true WR, tall with decent speed and good hands that can separate that I hope fall to the Fins.  If these players do not I expect a trade or FA move to bring one in.  If this happens I believe Ginns days are numbered.

Just a quick note, drafting Golden Tate or Shipley, does not help the needs of the Dolphins, granted they both could be upgrades over the current WR corp, but I feel a big WR #1 is needed.

Your thoughts.

I agree about Bess, Camarillo, and Hartline

All three of those guys are keepers.

Turner is really nothing right now. And if we had to get rid of a WR next year cus we are bringing in an upgrade (free agent, trade, or top draft pick), I’d get rid of Turner before Ginn. Cus if Turner was showing anything in practice, he’d be active on Sundays.

I agree

with Turner, Ginn, Hartline and Cam under contract leaving only Bess that needs to be resigned would the front office tender him and take a draft pick for him???? I cant see Ginn being traded for anything less then a 3rd and who gives it up? All this leads me to believe many of you might be disappointed in that we wait another year for that #1 and get the defense straightened out and considering the wr group for 2011 draft?!?!?!?! With the continued success of what we have we might just wait!!! I dont want a first round reciever unless McClain/Spikes/olber out of penn st are all gone AND Dez is still there I want defense drafted atleast 2 lbers and prefer 3 ILB and 2 OLBers

Bess is an exclusive rights free agant

meaning as long as the Dolphins offer him the 3rd year veteran minimum for one year, Bess MUST accept it. Then, after next season, Bess would be a restricted free agent.

I think it way too early to tell

Living in SoCal, I hear a lot about the Chargers and always thought Malcom Floyd and Vincent Jackson were just tall guys waiting to get cut. But the Chargers held on to them and now they are tearing up the league unfortunately. I agree that if we got a true #1 (like Andre Johnson, Brandon Marshall, etc) then Turner would be the first to go, but I don’t think he is nothing.

Because

Receivers take time to develop (i.e Floyd and Jackson)

If we pick up a solid like Bowe (or someone like him) do we need tTurner or Ginn ?

I mean.. I dont know who I would keep over the 2.. Ginn has proven he is a total butterfingers and is not reliable enough to count on. Turner has not shown he is any better then Ginn.. so.. are either of them worth keeping? How about trading them both and a 2nd for Bowe? Id hump that trade in a heartbeat.

Henne is now our leader. Lets see what the guy can do !
As usual the R&R Xpres is non stop to its next destination !

Ginn has trade value

I’m actually a Ginn fan. I still think his upside potential as a deep threat and kick/punt returner is significant. As we saw in the second Jets game, he has the ability to be a game breaker and, even though that doesn’t happen every Sunday, if you get one or two of those games a year, it can make a huge difference for the playoff picture.

But -— I think there may be too much water under the bridge at this point. I acknowledge that Ginn is not going to be a prototypical #1 type of receiver either here or elsewhere. Perhaps where he was selected in the draft will always haunt him if he stays in Miami. I do, though, think that Ginn has trade value. As opposed to what one of the posters stated, I think Ginn could get much better than a 3rd-round pick (not a first but perhaps a combination of a lower pick and a decent player). I think there are more than a few teams who aren’t looking for a #1 receiver but would love to have Teddy’s speed and ability to break a game open. I’m also not sure if Ginn himself would be happy in a reduced role (as he currently has) as a receiver and am not sure at this point if he would want to stay long term in Miam. So -—- it seems to me that it might be in everyone’s interest to shop him around and see if the Dolphins can get some value for him in a trade.

I'd like to draft either Damian Williams or Arrelious Benn

But it’s hard to imagine our FO using a high draft pick on a position that sometimes that takes two or three years to develop. I think it’s much more likely we’ll go after a FA or Dwayne Bowe or someone along those lines.

If so, we can use this defense-happy draft to concrete our front seven.

Damian Williams or Arrelious Benn in 2010!

I always like Bowe

Theres the family connection Miami and K.C but will the off field issue deter the FO. Keyshawn and Terry Glenn and T.O all co-existed with Parcells and they were not saints so it could be a possibility.

Ginn starting does not mean hes better then turner

Ginn does not start over Turner because better but because he returns kicks and does draw deep coverage were Turner is probley the lesser of Hartline at the moment so in that situation you lose in one area but gain in another and in Ginn’s sad defense he does make a big gain ever now and then.

Way too early to tell ...

While it can be said that Ginn doesn’t make the big plays you want or that both Camarillo and Hartline have passed him on the depth chart it doesn’t mean that this is how the season will end or how things will shakedown next year aswell.

Only two people in my mind are untouchable … Bess and Hartline. I didn’t include Camarillo simply because him and Hartline are the same players except that Hartline is faster and younger.

So with that being said if we do add another WR to the mix in the offseason it would probably fall on either Camirillo, Ginn or Turner.

My main reason for Ginn not being gone is that he adds verastility with his KR duties (which he does very well) and I think he will be taking the PR duties over shortly due to the lack of success Bess has had. The other thing is this guy is just a pure burner and changes the game … while he hasn’t had the catches we like he also isn’t in the game enough due to the offensive packages that the Dolphins have been using.

So that leaves it to Camarillo and Turner in my mind. While Turner is young I do get the feeling that if he doesn’t show up in the offseason he could be cut just like Shawn Murphy was and as far as Camarillo he could easily still be on the roster so this one will have to wait until the offseason.

Please remember we have 3 games to go and trading for a Bowe or drafting a Benn should wait till we have seen the entire body of work of all of these players

Tough Call.

I expect Camarillo to finish strong and separate himself from the pack. It can take a while to come back completely from a knee injury and he is a proven asset. I was counting him out a couple of weeks ago. I think I was wrong.

If Bess keeps laying the ball on field his future is bleak. This team is about fundamental football. No exceptions.

Hartline is fun to watch. This kid is excited to be there.

Ginn already has over 1,300 total yards and is tied with Hartline in points with 18.

I’m sure Turner’s getting better too.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see White enter this race at some point.

Should be fun to watch.

I want the return of the killer B's but this time on offense

Bowe, Benn and Bess

I probably know Judo! How many of you can make the same boast?

SORRY TO SAY IT

But as much as he has been the darling of this WR corps and the hero from a few years past, Greg Camarillo will be the one to go. He is the real veteran we have on the team, is developed and has good size and speed. we have a player exactly like him in hartline. Plus he is inexpensive. I see the front office trading him for a draft pick, maybe a 3rd rounder. There are alot of teams that would be more than willing to take a guy like him. I would hate to see him go, but it s business and if we get a decent draft pick for him even better. I can think of a few teams that would take him: St. Louis, San Fran, Seattle, KC just to name a few.

good post.

idk how much we are payng ginn, but we need to pay him less, and keep him for kick returns. there is no doubt that is his bread and butter. with that being said, turner would be the gonner.

2009 is a year of respect ladies and gentlemen. Lets get it.
