I think [Porter] was very motivating for our team throughout the course of the week and into the game. When you hear that kind of stuff, guys take it to heart, coaches to heart.
Is it time for Porter to shut his mouth yet - at least until Porter makes a play on the football field? I'd say it is. If nothing else, this confirms that opposing teams do indeed use trash talk as the occasional motivator.

We have come full circle with this...
JP’s first year, he was out there still talking smack while we were 0-forever and his play was mediocre. Then last season he has a great year, while of course, still talking as we got to the playoffs.
Now this year we aren’t looking like a playoff team quite, but we aren’t going 0-fer either and of course, JP is still talking.
Me personally, I’d rather have my guys STFU and let their play speak for itself.
Nobody is good forever in the NFL so if you talk and talk, pretty soon your level of play isn’t going to keep up with your mouth.

Porter doesn't do "normal" trash talking
Ochocinco, while annoying to a lot of people, is at least funny and entertaining (re: sending deodorant to the opposing defense, trying to bribe the refs with $1, etc…) and you get the sense that it’s all in fun. Porter attacks individuals and makes it personal (going back to his play in Pittsburgh in ‘01? What’s that have to do with the ‘09 Dolphins?) I guess it only works if he throws in a sack or a couple of tackles to back it up, but if it just reinforces the other team to make doubly sure he can’t back it up, then how can it possibly it help Miami?

I agree that Ocho talks but he manages to be entertaining and fun...
I doubt many teams bulletin board his quotes as Ocho is basically an entertainer, with his dollar bill antics onfield.
JP is not nearly as entertaining and seems to just hype other teams up.

Porter should not STFU. He should be himself. You can’t say “well its ok if he makes a certain amount of plays,” come on! He had a bad game game and he is certainly not having a year similar to last year’s, but so what. NOW you guys want him to shut up? I like Sparano’s take on it, he doesn’t give a shit what a guy says – he just doesn’t have time to get into it. Porter is here now so he’s our guy. Its not like he’s Larry Johnson, right?

i only care about how he plays, and he has not brought anything this season and doesn’t look like he is improving. he’s done.
and personally, i didn’t like the porter deal in the first place and was really surprised he did as well as he did last season. But even last season, he faded and couldn’t get it done over at the end.

porter is washed up
i paid attention to him in this game. he pushed brady down once, after the pass. I saw him get wrapped up by the LT and not even try to get back in the play. looked like he just quit. porter should only be a situational, change of pace guy for the rest of the season.

He’s finished. Guy just doesn’t have that power and explosion, and last year was really his last stand. He had a great 12-13 game stretch, and just wore down completely. Shoulda dealt him in the offseason. Sell high, instead of keeping him around a year too long. No way we get anything for him after this year unless he suddenly turns it on and plays for another contract, which I’m not sure he can…

Last week it was Solai is so great
this week its we really missed Ferg in the middle.
This is how I know we are a great team in the making, every team we’ve played has been a better position to position team than us but we are still competing and even winning. I think we are working with scraps and making Thanksgiving out of them.
We have an overrated O-line( they will be good in time) Thats why we cant run out of normal formations or even WC now. Our QB is always under pressure when passing and why we cant afford to spread the field with WRs because of protection probs.
We have NO recievers
Rookie secondary with no real FS
Mediocre LB’s
Our strength is at RB but who cares when its 10 men in the box
On papper no one we played is worse than us as far as personell but we make due. The future is bright even now our schedule has gotten really weak and aside for division leaders all the potential wildcard teams have at least 3 losses with just one with 2 who will hopefully lose tonight(steelers).
