Fort Hood Attack, a break from Football

So my first FanPost is going to be one completely non-football related.  As much as I love to support the Miami Dolphins, and the NFL, I truly believe in supporting the men and women that fight for our ability to do so.

As I type this, all of the cable networks are covering a shooting at Fort Hood in Texas.  An apparent Soldier has shot at least 31 people, and as of this posting 12 have been confirmed dead.

I'm not going to get into the politics, religious implications being discussed, or motives..... instead, please take a moment to think about the affected men, women and children on that base, and beyond.  We owe them more than that, and they would never ask for it.

Football will be there on Sunday, at least 12 of the people involved will not.......but its because of those serving our Armed Forces that we can watch our games this Sunday.

I thank each and every one of you that has served this country at home or abroad.  My thoughts are with everyone involved and their familes.

Just sad....

We have a few proud servicemen on this site….and I have 300% respect for them as men….before anything that has to do with a football team…i respect them for being the bravest men on the face of this planet.

One of my best friends from High School was a paratrooper right around 9/11….he commited suicide while serving…it was such a shock because being the captain of the basketball team…and a very popular dude….you would think he was the least likely dude to do that…but something got to him.

Ask Mosul and Mr.Medic….im sure it tests you in there….all it takes it 1 guy thats a lil off and gets messed with to do something like this.

God Bless everyone involved.

interesting you left religion out of it....

the suspect is alive, and referring to his name…which I’ll let all of you decide, is raising some eyebrows…..Beyond that, I support our military and especially the families left behind….zerothirteendot com believes that freedom isnt free………

I left religion out of it for a reason.

At this point it didn’t play a role in anything. Do you see the news covering each murder, mall shooting, or other as “Catholic Jeff O’Shaunessy shot down……” blah blah…. Its entertaining media coverage, and draws viewers if you play up the muslim angle, but its often also misleading.

Don’t take me for a radical islam apologist either. I’m an atheist who was on the phone placing trades with the WTC went the planes hit. I’ll never forget that day. But I’m also not so close minded that I equate anyone with a muslim sounding name to a terrorist.

Anyone in the military will tell you that there are thousands upon thousands of muslim people serving righteously and fighting alongside them day after day after day.

If it turns out he’s connected to some terrorist organization, then obviously it should be brought up. If it turns out to be some wacko with a suicide wish….then religion didn’t play a part.

Everything I've heard seems to point to a suicide wish.

I found out about this is Wendy's

(yea, the one by me actually has TV’s)…well anyway, i couldn’t believe it when i saw it…it is a damn shame, this is supposed to be the one of safest places in the world, and this happens, unbelievable…my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families and to the entire Armed Forces as well as my utmost gratitude and support for these men and women that risk their lives for us
