I am from Ohio going to first Dolphins game in Miami December 6th
Since I have never been to Miami let a lone a Dolphins game in Miami I was hoping to get some good advice on what to do. We are flying down Friday morning out of Dayton, Ohio so we should be in town early afternoon. We will have Friday evening, all day Saturday and all day Sunday since the game is a night game.
I am not sure where we are staying exactly because my uncle got the hotel room. All I know is it is on a beach somewhere. I haven't got the details from him yet.
What restaurants are worth checking out? We don't want to go someplace that we could go to in Ohio. Is Dan Marino's place pretty good? What about Don Shula's? We thought they would be cool to check out. Is there somewhere else that you would recommend over those?
What do you recommend for an activity to do on Saturday for a couple of tourists from Ohio?
We need to find a good Dolphins store. You can't find anything in Ohio. I have to buy everything online and pay for shipping!
What about game day...is there a lot to do around the stadium? Are the lots open for tailgaiting all day for a Sunday night game?
I apologize if this is posted in the wrong place..This is only like my 2nd time posting here so I am not sure of the rules as to what is supposed to be posted under "FanShots"

well, there is a lot 2 do in miami
as far as restauraunts are concerned, i luv shulas and marinos, although some people say otherwise; but we hav a bunch of great places to eat, and depending on where u r located, you should plan your trips, so if u find out where u r staying, i could probably tell u more about what u could do
I am waiting for him to let me know
As soon as I get that info I will let you know.
Thanks for the help so far. I can’t wait for this trip. It will be nice to be at a game with Dolphins fans. I have been stuck with seeing the Phins in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Detroit. Nothing is worse than going to Cleveland and being on the losing end!
dont get lost if renting a car....pretty tricky, but not impossible....
If you are staying by beach, great sites, but save some money and go to “bayside”…where the hardrock restaurant is…I think its called bayside..bout 10 minutes from beach area….I’m sure that since I brought this up,some locals will guide you in there….but definitely walk around the beach restaurants and grab a cocktail around there…..

Yes, my Son,......take my hand and I will guide you.......
Only because you’re from Ohio, and you better say you are down with the Buckeyes !!! I’m from Toledo, and have been going to games since 1985, the last 3 seasons I’ve been doing the working snow-bird thing and have put myself down here for most of the season. I’m just about to get to Florida fro the last 4 home games, arriving this Friday.
So, on we go. Being from Ohio,…..the beach is nice, I can tell you about the Ft Lauderdale area as that is where I stay when in the area before I get a job. But, lets get on to the heart of the matter………
The Hard Rock Casino area is one of favorites. It’s a mega entertainment complex complete with casino, a bunch of resturaunts & nightclubs, a concert venue, comedy club, & shopping. You could go broke there easily if you don’t contol yourself,……….but it’s an awesome place. I say it’s a must do.
Dolphin stuff, Target & Wal-mart have lots of cheap stuff,……but it’s not Reebok or NFL equipment. My choose is going to Sawgrass Mills outlet mall, again it’s a mega mall. But it has 2 sport themed stores and a Dicks for better stuff. But here is your must see…….go to the Dolphins training faclity in Davie. In the front office area is a little Dolphin shrine with all kinds of Dolphin historic artifacts like this…………

"/>
Not to mention, 2 Superbowl tropies !!!!!!
Around the back of the facility is the proshop, here you will find the best selection. Also there is a proshop at the stadium, but FYI,…..prices are higher than if you find the item in the mall by 10%-20%. But, there is an awesome selection. This guy is in the proshop in Davie………
Now, gameday,…….for you it’s going to sensory overload. I suggest you find me and I’ll try to keep you together,..lol.
I will be try to get a group of Phinsiders together for the last 4 homes games, but they never have happen yet,…..so we’ll see. I got more,……..but sick of hunt & peck typing,…..sorry !

Buckeye!
Heck yes I am a Buckeye! My avatar is of Brian Hartline signing one of my OSU helmets. I also have one with Ted Ginn Jr!
Thanks for the info on the shopping. We def. need to check the pro shops out but I will buy at the stores at the mall for the cheaper prices.
Also, ......
Bokamper’s on Pine Island road is one kick-ass sports bars !!!!! And, it’s totally Dolphined out……you’ll love that place. The radio station does some of live broadcast from there with fromer & current player. If you are into autographs listen to WQAM, and often times a player will be doing an appearence for some grand opening or the like. That’s how I got this pic with D Bess last year at a Comp USA……
One more thing,……..you got Hartline, but I got Tressel !!!!

I got a coach Tress auto on a football.
It says YEAH Ohio! on one side and his sig is on the other side of the laces. :-)
I have an empty full size Phins helmet that needs some sigs so I think I might take it and do what you said. I will listen to the internet stream of WQAM whil at work to see when all of the appearances might be.
Thanks man you have been full of info!
I am jealous
I am also a Dolfan living in Columbus, OH. I have been to one game: it was 1999 in Marino’s last year when I was in college. I hope to make it to another one eventually. Have fun and enjoy the weather!!!
Where have YOU been, I just moved from Columbus and went back to Florida.......I spent the last 13 weeks there.
And I need another Fin fan to hang with….
What part of town you at, I was right by Polaris mall

Awesome
I got to make it to the Illinois game this year. I try ti make it to the Phin’s game when they are around here. Last one I made it to was at Cleveland in 07 (wife is a Browns fan).
I was at both games you were at as well. When you get down here for the game we'll have to meet for some tailgating.
We’ve come down last 3 seasons now, but no tailgating as we only know one other couple and he’s all about stalking the players before and after the game. So, if you need to get some stuff signed , he’s your boy. Before the game you can usually find some alumni hanging about, and after when the players leave some will stop from time to time to sign, but’s hit or miss. I came home last year with 11 or 12 signed mini helmets, shula on a ball, J Long on the draft day hat. But really its most luck of who will stop.
Anyways, I’m going to post about Phinsider tailgates for the remaiming home games and see if I can’t put something together……..

Hang on, you’re flying down this weekend for a game?! We’re on the road in NE! Or do you mean the week after, against Tampa?
Are you staying on South Beach? If so, don’t buy anything from any of the little shops (except food obviously!) – they prey on tourists. Aside from that, it’s nice to walk around and check out some bars and nightlife obviously.
The tailgating will begin pretty early- I’ve got there 5-6 hours before kick off before and there’s already plenty of people there. Bare in mind parking is usually $25 per car and the idiots who organize everything don’t know what they’re doing, so it’s a complete mess driving in and out.
The stadium museum is decent I guess, but like other people have said it’s overpriced. I’ve seen more originality and selection at other teams around the country – in Miami it’s pretty much ’here’s a toilet roll with a Dolphin logo on it’.
I’ve not been to either of the two restaurants you mentioned, but I asked my girlfriend and she says Dan Marino one is really good, but pricey.
not this weekend
…the December 6th Sunday night game @ Miami.
It is only a month a way so I wanted to start game planning for the trip:-)
I'll be at that game as well.........
actually, I’ll be at the last 4 home games !!
