This may be a crazy Defensive Idea but.....
I think this may work. Now please just hear me out. Imagine a pass rush consisting of this line up. Merling/Soliai then Starks then Taylor on the line. Right behind then you have Wake on the Outside then Crowder then Roth then Porter.
Sounds insane right considering you would be rushing with five linebackers and only 2 "true" linemen, however consider how they use Taylor more often than not, he is on the line. Also ever since Zach thomas left the MLB has been hurting. Not taking away from Crowder but he is better on the outside so stick Roth and his monstrous self in there. You have Wake comming off the edge with Port and Taylor doubling up with each other while Roth comes in right behind Starks and Crowder speeds in or drops back for coverage. You're combining our fastest and best pass rushers in one massive blitz. If our secondary can jam recievers at the line and for those first 5 yards, we buy time for one of those front 7 to break through. I trully think this crazy idea could work. If not who else do you think could line up for this style of scheme?

i dont care as long we freaking blitz
dont get it we play agressive in the first half, get pressure, get hits, get sacks, shut down opponents offense
second half, we change the winning formula, play soft, get burned, opponents score ???
earth on Paul…. doesnt make sense
we really have the players to be a dominate defense, they show they can execute, its about coaching
i like what Sparano does but im really not happy with Pasqualoni and Henning

I admire your creativity...
Basically you have Jason Taylor as a 3-4 DE and Roth as an ILB
I’m not sold on Crowder and he is injured, and I wouldn’t want him to get his hair pulled by Matt Light again…is he injured also?
I would disagree since I think the strength of our defense is our D-Line. Randy Starks has been amazing and Soliai is starting to shine. You also want Merling and Langford in there as well, so I say that Taylor will be more effective with LESS snaps MORE rest and attacking from the OLB position. I have no problem with him as an end in a four man nickel d-line.
Here’s a thought: Have Roth, Taylor, Porter, and Anderson rotate at OLB and use Wake or Walden as a blitzing ROVER/SS. It is not like Yeremiah Bell has been doing that great covering the TE anyway. He has been a great blitzer. Now imagine Wake or Walden coming on a blitz from different looks or from different spots in the defensive formation. Think of Wake/Walden as the defensive “Wildcat” who attacks from different gaps and is always moving around. Wake/Walden are pretty good athletes and could give outstanding run support as well as cover the TE on occasion. Imagine the OC tryiing to figure out where the Wildcat Blitz is coming from…
Abandoned the Draft Sean Smith at #25 Bandwagon to Join the Draft Sean Smith at #61 Bandwagon and get Vontae Davis and Chris Clemons. Trio > me.

I would rather
move starks next to fergy put merling and langford on the ends bring JT outside Merling with wake behind him and porter on the other side outside of langford, Crowder trolling the middle jam the corners and change up rushing and keeping back Gabril with jones and the 2 rookies on the WOs
Confidence breeds success, self-doubt breeds failure

I say we just make Bell an inside linebacker.
I think he put on too much muscle this year, and is too slow to be a safety.
I say we could play:
FS: Culver/Wilson SS: Clemons
OLB:Porter ILB: Bell ILB: Crowder OLB: Taylor
Ronnie Brown is the man

The reason
I chose that group was because of the speed with which they could “overload” an offensive line. I understand what you guys are saying about the Defensive line needing more players but the way I imagine it is that this speed/power rush would force opposing TE’s and Backs to block and then if our D Backs could actually jam someone at the line of schrimage, they could buy time for the rush to get to the QB. Also the choice of Crowder would be if he was healthy. This is a what if/best case scanrio I am just thinking of. Also this could be swapped with either Crowder or Wake sticking the TE if he gets loose. I also chose Matt Roth as the MLB because he has the size and can move and stuff runs hard. Crowder is a much better OLB. Since Zach we haven’t been nearly as dominant at MLB you have to admit guys. Also this would be heavily dependant on our D-Backs sticking their men. The back pedaling 10 yards thing gets old. Jam the recievers up front and have confidence in your coverage ability.

dont laugh at me
but i have the feeling Wilson is becoming a good player
haha
no serious, he gives us flexibility in blitzing, the only thing we need to do is playing that style that matches our defense. we are too physical and too big to run with the speed guys, so…
set the house on fire, blitz the hell out of them, both Davis and Smith can play bumb and run and are physical, our safeties can knock off a TE.
as early in the Saints game, as early in the Jets game, as early in freaking every game, when we play agressive and pressure. Defense is stoud.
as soon we have the lead and Pauly PartTime Pasqualoni decides to burn the lead and play soft – we give up a lot of Yds & worst…. Points
