Post-Game Thread: Epic failure in Buffalo

You let a bad football team hang around - especially when they are at home - and this is what happens.

Bills win 31-14.

Keep this post as clean as possible. Any excessive profanity will be grounds for a bad. We're all pissed but throwing around f-bombs left and right won't change anything. So just don't do it.

Also - use this thread to talk about the game. Don't create new fanposts and take up space when you could easily make a comment below instead. Of course, if it's a long, in-depth comment, then a fanpost is a good idea.

Talk about whatever you want here. Usual game recap post coming tonight.

I do believe, if NE loses, and we beat them next week, we are 1 game back in the division. A lot can happen when you are only 1 game back. We aren’t out of this by a long shot, we just really need to win out, and get a little tiny bit of help from the Pats.

Season is over. And once again Ginn dropped a pass that may have lead to 3 pts b4 the half.

We can always look ahead to net season though right?

we have a lot of good young pieces

we need a serious playmaker on offense, and all those other pieces will look like stars (ala Garcon, Collie, Gonzalez in Indy playing with Wayne and Clark).

we need to let our rookie corners mature and learn before we count on them to shut out future HOFer’s for an entire game.

we need to stay healthy on the OL, because injuries up front will derail you’re season no matter how much talent you have.

we need to allow Henne to develop and become a good QB, because it doesn’t happen overnight.

well said and rec'd

I tend to like your way of thinking. This was a setback, but just because we don’t make the playoffs doesn’t not make this season a fairlue. We are getting ALOT of rookies playing time and much needed xp. Hell we done lost our Starting QB, RB, other RB, our starting NT, plugging holes all over the OL.

What the hell do all you people expect?

well said both you and nicky

if you look at where we were when we wen 1-15… we lost ronnie and trent green. look at this year. we lost ronnie and our QB in pennington.

except now we’re finding ways to win without our starters. now i like henne over CP10, but its similar that hes being thrown right into the mix, and doing decent for a run-first team. and yeah, you add the CBs as rookies, this team has a lot of upside when it couldve been another disaster like 2 yrs ago

Not sure if I agree there..

Play calling may have been a problem for today but that’s not the reason why we blew all of the 4th quarter leads.

But I’d have to say or biggest needs on defense would be NT and MLB.

Why do we want to limit Ricky’s carries, the man should have gotten the ball in his hands at least 35 times today, he’s healthy and he’s in shape!

Lets be real, Dolphins were not legitimate playoff contender

Too many missing pieces on offense and defense for the Dolphins to be a legit playoff contender. Our offense is not high-powered enough, nor is our defense isn’t even close to being dominant enough to make a playoff run. Enjoy the season and the draft guys.

LOST THE GAME WHEN RICKY THREW THE BALL...

that simple. DOMINATED the first drive… gaining 7-12yds a play. Then we THROW THE BALL WITH OUR RB ON THE GOAL LINE?! Stupid play call.

That was the game changer – we run the ball down their throats and score – different ball game. Instead we give them hope and allow the crowd to get involved… recipe for a bad team at home to win the game.

Agreed

Henne had a bad game, ya know what BIG DEAL. He doesn’t have any WRs to throw to and he is on a rebuilding team that can’t stay healthy. He has started a total of half a season (8 games)

Bottom Line:

He is still 5-3 as a despite all of this. GET OVER IT.

Dolphins Regressing Again

Well, you can’t win a game if you throw 4 interceptions. Once again, Chad Henne may be the QB of the future, but he isn’t the QB for today. There were too many missed opportunities again and the 2nd half was a total meltdown on both offense and defense. When Fitzpatrick ran the ball, no one could stop him including the TD run. The Dolphins, i’m afraid, are just not a good team. At least there is next year.

Be a team that I am confident will win every time they step on the field? I know there are young players in some positions and injuries in others, but what is needed to prevent the epic 4th quarter failuers?

rofl at sanchez and fitzpatrick being grade A qb's

the WR thing though yes. Moss, Welker, TO, Evans, Edwards, Cotchery all take a sh*t on our WR’s

Don't forget at one point we had Brett Farve out here. Chad Pennington probably isn't an A but very valuable

Then you can go back in history, that speaks for itself. So yes our division is stacked with awesome QBs and WRs

by rroan28 on Nov 29, 2009 6:29 PM EST up reply actions

yeah, I agree. Ricky williams shouldn't be throwing the ball at all.

Henne didn’t look sharp in this game. I am confident he’s our franchise QB, dude has a howitzer for an arm! Ricky, Lex, and Polite dominated the game. I totally understood the coaching staff for benching Ricky after 25 carries, I want this guy to be healthy next year when we make the run to the superbowl. But with that said they should’ve pounded the ball with Sexy Lexy and Polite. Ultimately we don’t have the receiving corp to put teams away. We need a number 1, cause Hartline is tearing up the place, bess is doing his job and even the camarillo is missing in action he still shows up to catch the ball but we don’t have a #1 so teams can bottle them up if no one is gashing down mid field or sideline. fesano looked good. With all that said this is just a maturing game for Henne so I have no worries for him. I’m confident the Pats will lose to the Saints and will blow them out of the water with Henne leading the way when the come to our house!! GO PHINS!!

He got the ball to fasano a lot. He just collapsed after the Bills tied it up at 14.

yeah, he started well.

had some nice touch on a couple of balls early, which is the area where he needs to improve most. When he gets tight (ie, the 4th quarter) he forgets all that and just starts firing.

I think that when you have a no recievers that know how to get open, the opposition knows

your going to throw it and you have no choice but to try and make a pass to keep the drive going it all adds up to some INT’s. I will not lay all the blame for that on Henne.

Offense will keep you in the game.

by and1ms238 on Nov 29, 2009 4:45 PM EST up reply actions

.... ok then why spend the big dollars next year?

I guess my point is if this is a young team and we’re planning for the future.. why would we spend the big bucks on a WR now knowing we have a few more positions to fill. We also have a few rookies who need more experience.

Look for bargain FA, focus on the draft and player development for now.

by D X on Nov 29, 2009 4:54 PM EST up reply actions

I'm sure all the optimists out there will disagree.

But I’m calling it a year. We gave it a good shot, made things competetive. That doesn’t mean I don’t want them to still win every game. But I also realize the chances are slim to none that we actually will, and even if we do, we would still have to hope on too many other teams losing. We lost the advantage on tiebreakers we had with this loss. So I say it’s time to start playing all the rookies and backups and see what kind of potential they have. That means you, Kory Sheets, Lex Hilliard, Patrick Turner, Pat White, Sperry, Clemons, Culver, Wake, and anyone else they can find. By the way, who the hell is Baker? Did I miss someone getting picked up off the waiver wire? He was playing NT. When did we get him?

we now know more than ever what we need to do this offseason.

we cant always rely on the draft, we need to go out and make an impact in the free agent market.. I’ll step up and write a post on who is all available in the offseason, and try and decide which positions we can afford to address, and which ones we must sign somebody off the market.

But no doubt, this was game was complete and utter bullshit..

Just a few thoughts. What the #### were we think having RW try to throw his first pass since 2000 when we just matched down to the ONE !!!! Also, STOP throwing to GINN, STOP IT NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and, STOP bringing in Pat White to lose yardage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!IT DOES NOT WORK !!!! and, Henning needs to go…his play calling in the thrid and fourt quarters are terrible….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think what bothers me the most are the points left on the table.

The Ricky INT in the beginning, and the penalty on 4th and 1 that knocked us out of FG range.

Get those points, and it’s 17-7 at the half. 3rd qtr drive makes it 24-7, and then we’d be sitting at 24-14 in the 4th. They get the FG with a 5 or so left, and Henne isn’t forced to throw the ball.

That seems to be another trend this season. Leaving points on the table. Doing okay with finishing drives, but the mistakes seem to happen at the worst possible time.

I'm already thinking next season!

We need a couple more good draft picks & some good free agency moves & we are there….even if we do make the playoffs (by some stretch) we are not the caliber needed to take it all the way…we will be though in one or two years!

This Season And WR's

Boldin in 2010! If anyone can get him in line, it’s our staff and veterans (minus Peezy). Anyway, there’s an outside shot at the wildcard. Jags lost, Titans are down but fighting, Texans lost, and Steelers are playing Sunday. That’s our schedule. Hard-fought games coming soon.

Another wasted season!

Well it’s over once again 24+ years down the drain without a SB season and 36 years without a SB win. What a crock. Year after year they find another way to rip my heart out. And the thing that really pisses me off is that I’m probably more upset that the players, Ho hum beaten by one of the worst teams in football guess I’ll just cash that big check and buy another car. The modern football player makes me sick, no heart no dedication. Don’t get your heart behind this team because they have NONE!

I'm sorry.

I’m just really pissed. My father took me to my first game in 1966. We lost. But a love affair was born and after 44 years of following this team I should be used to this sort of thing. When I see NE win after being our punching bag for decades it makes me wonder what do we have to do to get a winning team in Miami. The future looks better now than it has for a long time but these types of losses to a sad sack team like buffalo makes me lose my mind. I hope they learned something today, if not then it was all in vain. Go buffalo and take the freaken jets with ya!!

You know what I still love the Dolphins and always will...

I kinda expected we might lose this game. I knew losing Ronnie along
with the O-line would add to the problems…

We will be better next year. I just wish we coulda represented the AFC East title
a little better than we have. We have got to get hungrier as a team to be able to
dominate…. One year of good experience for Henne and who knows how good we
can be ….

I couldn't watch the game

but i heard that T.O. had a huge day today, and now i’m starting to question if Davis and Smith are cut to be #1 corners in this league. They can cover #2 WRs but struggle against struggling #1s, and the occasional young #2 WR.

Emotionaly Draining

I am a huge Fins fan, but its seems that things like this keep happening and I just have to say it emotionally exhausting! I’m kind of glad that the playoff hopes are over (and yes they are), now we can definitely say that we can focus on next season. Get some young guys more snaps. Maybe even see Turner in a game.

I really feel like this one is on the coaches

They’re in a sophmore slump this year, but they better kick it into gear next season. I have a lot of trust in Sparano, but sometimes I wonder: are they just experimenting with different things, learning, or are these just bone headed decisions and a glimpse of what’s to come?

Dear archenemies,

WHEW. Looks like this year wasn’t a total loss.
We’re still smarting from the 38-10 game earlier this year, but this will have to do.

Boy was it great to beat you guys today. Before the game Lee Evans addressed the team privately and kindly informed all of the newer players why this is such an important rivalry. For Bills fans this was the first taste of victory all year that makes us feel good about the team. After ten years of no playoffs, and heartbreak like the Patriots game in Wk 1, it’s games like this that show we will always play Miami hard why I keep watching the Bills. It’s true we are 4-7. We are worse than our own fans think we are, and better than the public thinks we are. You are 5-6, it is probably the same way with your squad.

I want to say I understand your heartache today, but I don’t understand it. You still have a long way to go before you’ve endured the pain that Bills fans have endured. No Super Bowl titles. 0-20 against you in the 70s. Ten years of no playoffs. Yes, it’s heartache of a different kind you’re feeling, and I suppose it’s not right to take that right away from you.

Tough Loss to Bad Team

Alot of things went wrong for us today. Bad offensive line play, bad secondary coverage, linebackers letting QB run like Vick on us, drop passes NO SURPRISE (GINN). But I think the worst thing was for the Dolphins coming into this game thinking they were gonna win, instead the Bills came into the game expecting to win. They beat us, they were the better team, just tip your hat to them and try to move on and get ready to beat them Damn Patriots next week!

by Redeyedbandit on Nov 29, 2009 10:20 PM EST reply actions

A lot of delusional people in this thread sayin go Saints but if the Pats lose you seriously think there gonna go back to back and lose to Miami??????? NO way

Miami is very unbalanced team. They can run but cant pass. They can pass rush but cant cover. Just bad football its really sad to see Ricky’s good season go to waste with shitty play calling and a lack of consistency.

That endzone INT was very bad. Would have been a whole different ball game. They would have been down 21-7 at point. They would of had to abandon the run and Miami would of had a easy time on defense as wells as offense because they would of ran the ball often.

Patrick Turner needs to see action there is nothin to lose at this point Ginn dropped passes again and went offsides. We need to know if Patrick Turner can do anything so we dont have a ? on him.
