Can someone explain to me...
this may be a dumb question for some of you, but i have never had this explained to me...what is the big deal with moving an O-Lineman from say C to G or G to T or from the left side to right side...i hear it all the time and people make such a big deal about it and I don't understand why, i have never heard analysts or anybody explain why it is such a big transition...can someone please clear this up for me?

different responsibilities, going in different directions, timing
i.e. – if a play calls for the RG to pull and block on the left to open a hole and a T is in the RG spot and has never played there

oh true
but is it any different if it just straight up blocking, without any pulling or moving around?

Of course it is different for each position. No pulling but gonna open
a hole on the right side between T & G – say RT goes down and you slide RG into RT posit. On this example RG blocks to R and RT blocks to L to open hole. Now RG is in RT spot and he blocks his normal right – right into the RB !

kinda simplistic examples, but you get the idea

Its really just a comfort level
I played offensive guard in HS. I was more comfortable playing LG and pulling to the right. I dont really know why but I was alot better at LG than RG. Other than that there really is no difference between the 2 guard positions.
Center is a different story completely. You need to be rather athletic and smart to play that position. You have to snap the ball and usually burst into the 2nd level on run plays to set the edge on LB’s. I would have tried to be a center but there was a guy a grade ahead of me that was really good and I wanted to play not sit the bench. He actually had some coaches from UCF talking to him but he went to Bible college instead…
I probably know Judo! How many of you can make the same boast?

huge difference for each position
especially on passing downs where you wanna push each guy and how you are protecting the qbs blind side. simply put, on madden it works fine but offensive lines need to work together more than any other position does so you have to know where everybody will be and how to pick up blitzing schemes.

Really? Surprised she's in college. By typical standards, she should still be a senior.

Just a different skillset
Left Tackle has to have better footwork as well as having strength. Reason being is that they are usually against the teams premier pass rusher and have to be able to negate speed rushes as well as bullrushes. This is why they get paid the big bucks. they protet the qb’s blind side.
Centers are “the captain of the o-line” they are in charge of making calls and securing the shifts in protection. Skillset wise they differ from guards by just the snapping ability. They are of the same mold. Big, physical..not especially nimble.
Guards are pretty much interchangeable. Meaning they can probably switch from left or right side depending on scenario. They distinguishing between the left and right usually forms early on when they are learnign the position. They are just more comfortable on either side. But of course this changes as well as personell and “gelling”
Right tackle..considered more of a strength protecter. Meaning they are usually up against the tier-2 pass rushers. Not neccessarily the big bucks but they are essential in pass protection and need to be somewhat nimble
