very interesting stuff indeed
you know i always kinda wondered how they got along, i’m glad there both good friends I know how it is to have a friend your close too that you play with on the same side of the ball. It’s a good feeling as you pick each other up and feel terrible when they get sidelined for an injury it’s a good win but your always sad cause your friend couldn’t be here to share it with you it’s a special feeling I can sympathies with Ricky he does have a good heart in him.

i have always loved Ricky
been a HUGE fan of his, back when he was in college, I knew there was something different to him (the weed thing doesn’t hurt either lol)…this story shows how different he is from the rest of the NFL players, and it is great to see how great of friends he and ronnie are, that makes all the difference

okay, not to be negative but...
Ricky should thank any fan for continuing to support him after everything he’s put us through. Whether he likes it or not he’s famous and he’s being paid for dealing with people who don’t say hello.
Did he ever think that the person who approached him was so nervous that he forgot to say hello? Did he ever think that most athletes would prefer to avoid the small talk? Would Ricky have even remembered the guy’s name if he said what it was?
I understand his demons He needs to understand that having someone come up to you and say “we’ve got a big game coming up” is better than someone coming up to him and saying"you f’n pothead quiter, get out of my town and don’t look back".
I guess Dave Hyde isn’t part of Ricky’s media blackout.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to have Ricky. I just wish he’d appreciate the support this team and fanbase has given him.
Oh no, someone spoke to me with saying hello first, I better make them feel like a jerk.
You get what you give and up to this point Ricky has gotten a hell of a lot more than he has given.
I wish I would have been the guy in the elevator. I would have got in his face and told him a story about when I got a toy when I was a kid that I didn’t like. At first I would be very disappointed, sometimes correcting the gift giver on what they should have bought me. Then I learned an important lesson, just thank the person and move on.
Hey Ricky, unless someone tells you off then just thank them for their support and get off the elevator.

also
Ricky doesn’t want the workload. Thats why he’s deferred to Ronnie. Don’t make it sound selfless. He left the team in the first place because he didn’t want to carry the rock 30+ times a game.
This whole article came across as tacky.

Talk about ruffled feathers!!
I’m happy for Ricky Williams. He along with JT are my favorite (current) dolphin players and for good reason. I think it is says a lot that he thinks it is a bad week because his buddy Ronnie Brown got hurt seriously. If that isn’t caring about your teammates and team then I don’t know what is? You think TO or Braylon Edwards or Brandon Marshall give a crap about anyone else on the roster besides themselves?
Sure Ricky left the game and the team a few years ago. However, he did some very special things in a dolphin uni that no other player has done for our team. We are talking 3200+ yards and almost 400 carries in 2 years. That kind of workload ends and/or shortens a lot of careers, not to mention the pain these guys will have as they get older.
Not to mention that athletes like RIcky, with the issues he has, oftentimes end up on the street or much worse. That he’s out playing football and contributing seems to me, like a far far better alternative.
I love my team as much as anyone yet I also appreciate that these guys are people, with personalities, not just robots as some people seem to take it.
Go Ricky. Go Dolphins.

I'm cruious as
to why he didn’t stick with baseball. Seems like a lot less pressure than the lone back of the Longhorns and Saints. Less fanbase, less crowds. Puzzling. Yo Ricky, any input. Wait, lemme say “Hi” first.

baseball is just as much pressure
and there is less off time in baseball as well, so that might have more of a negative impact on him, having to perform EVERYDAY

Go out and stand in the outfield and chase a ball 3 times a game everyday.
Have 8 other people to cover your out, and be expected to hit the ball half the time or less every time you step up to the plate. Less physical stress. Many more years of playing time. Plenty of free time, how many vacation days can one possibly need? Hell, the only sport less trying than baseball is golf, even though golf pays more. Tony Romo ought ta give up quarterbacking for golf.

i wasn't talking so much about the physical aspect of the sports
i was thinking more in terms of media and fan recognition its about the same…maybe more fan recognition for baseball players cause they don’t have a mask covering there faces, so people can recognize them more

True
but you still have other fielders covering you, and 8 other hitters backing you. When an NFL Team has a bad/good game, the 2 main people involved, regardless of actual performance, are the QB and RB. Unless you blow something major (for which you probably deserve some flack), or are a pitcher, you honestly don’t catch much shit, unless your BA is noticeably horrid.

true
but in any sport if you make a mistake you’ll get flack for it, regardless of position…if you do your job and stay quiet for the most part you’ll be left alone by the media

Hey, there are many good points on both sides....
I for one love the production Ricky is giving us. However, the NFL is about the money. Some players do better in the spotlight than others do, that’s for sure.
Me personally as a fan since the team started in the late sixties, I’ve seen many quirky
players over the years. I decided to only think of Ricky as a player and an athlete who makes millions being productive and that’s it. I can’t identify with his actions off the field and really don’t care about it. Look a T.O., how would you like that drama queen on your team instead of RW? I’m sorry, but I’ll take RW, at least he’s not blaming everyone else on his team publicly when he has a bad game ! let’s leave the Ricky off the field business alone. And hope that he continues to be a potent threat for our team. I can’t wait to see if he can keep it up at the age of 32. To me, that time he retired on us, well let’s just say that time off may have prolonged his career as a running back.
“RUN RICKY RUN” ( And remember to hold on to the ball like it’s your last bag of crippy weed !)

Just because watching football is your life
doesn’t mean playing it should be someone else’s. Sure he is physically gifted but to feel he owes anyone but himself anything is absurd.

I dont care if his hearts not completely in it because
If this game was won with heart and not talent and will, than 11 of us would be starting for the Phins. Fans have it so easy, watch, critisize, judge. Fact is he is doing the Dolphins a favor as much as they are doing him one.
I dont care what they invested in him because on a business end if Peyton Manning got hurt and wasnt the same you bet your ass with all he’s done they arent letting hhim stay through his contract. Its all business folks.
