PrintSo, in 2 short hours the Wife and I are off to meet up with "The Stalker", his Son, and another friend ( all from Ohio ). We heading 45 minutes South to some swanky sports bars not far from the South beach area of town. I am totally pumped to watch this game surrounded by a bunch of former Fins !!! You know me,....I will not hesitate to buy one of these guys a drink if I think it will get me in good graces with them. Shit, God damn.......some extended face-time with my childhood hero John Offerdahl. Imagine if you will,.....Dolphins come up with a defensive score,....or two !!!
The place erupts, people hugging with joy, high-fiving each other,..................just imagine !!!!!
Now, let your mind go,.........I tell Dwight Stephenson, "If I could play any postion in football, it would be center." I can see it now......He takes me under his wing !

True Story...
…when I was 18 (1983) I was at a family wedding in Dallas. We were waiting for our plane home to Miami in the Dallas airport and Don Shula was on our plane. I always used to travel with a football back then (my brother and I would play catch just about anywhere we could). Anyway, I brought my little cousin over to meet Coach Shula and shake his hand. His late wife, Dorothy, was there and they were both incredibly nice and very sweet to my little cousin. Coach asked for a look at the ball I had tucked under my arm. I tossed it to him and he said, “This is the real thing! Where did you get this?”
“The Orange Bowl,” I replied.
He replied with The Stare. He narrowed his eyes and froze me in my tracks, unflinching, not smiling…
“Uh, Zipp’s Sporting Goods in South Miami,” I corrected myself.
“Okay,” he said, still not smiling and tossed the ball back to me.
“Oh, Don,” said Dorothy, shaking her head.
Go Dolphins.
