Rumor: Ronnie Brown out for year?
Ronnie Brown out for the year? According to Mike Florio at profootballtalk.com. The Dolphins fear Ronnie could be done.
The first time I heard the Dolphins feared he had a signifacant foot injury I immediately thought of the L Word. If this is true, then it would be the third time that I can think of the L Word has struck the Dolphins. Both Donald Thomas and Ted Ginn both missed time with a Lisfranc injury. Lets all hope this is not true and Ronnie comes back soon.

This would be terrible.
Hilliard and Sheets will definitely get some looks if this is the case.

Well this sucks
for our playoff run, but could be a blessing in disguise, with us getting a better view of our younger talent(Lex and Kory), plus they might let Henne air it out a little more.
CP10 and P.Cobbs get well soon

I been waiting for Seets to run the wildcat(the guy in motion)
because of his speed. I’m they never put Ginn in motion. He would have been right at home or at least headed home(out of bounds).

We need to start thinking is Ronnie done as a Dolphin.
I said it, and I’ll get bashed for it but if ronnie is done for the year, he could be done as a Fin.
This is just a thought by me no media reports. now I love Ronniebut we got to be realistic here. Ronnie has been prone to injury. He missed a good part of the season in 07, thanks to Lemon. He did have a solid 08 year, but if he is done for the season he will miss 7 games, almost half a season.
We all know Ronnie is in a contract year, and now I’m glad Parcells didn’t give him a big contract extension in the offseason or in the year when people were yelling to “pay the man”.
If Lex comes in and establishes himself, who is to say Parcells. who thinks RBs are a dime a dozen and he can find RB gems in late draft rds (see Marioin Barber), wouldn’t want to spend the money elsewhere.
Futhermore, Ricky is being an ageless wonder, he is 32 now. Do youthink the Trifecta would want to go into the 2010 season with a starting RB who has missed almost a 1/2 a season 2 of the past 3 years and a 33 yr old backup. We all now RBs usually hit the wall at 30, Ricky is well over that and Ronnie will turn 29 next year.
A rebuilding team gets younger in every position, RBs are no exceptions. We might have just seen Ronnie play his last game as a Fin. on the brighter side of tthingns, he could come back in a few weeks and lead us to thte playoffs.

my thoughts exactely ....
Yep I agree with the above. The Trifecta do not like fragile players either.
If Ronnie is lost for the year he would have lost 16 games out of 49 possible ones. Uhm …
However, one thing I saw on another blog: if Ronnie doesn’t play who would replace him as the Wildcat triggerman? What about Tyler Thigpen? Now, think about it, that would be a shock, hopefully to the Panthers’ defense too …

if they want to put TT
in then the would have to deactivate PW.. I have a feeling that if RB is out for the year then we are gonna see alot more of Patty this year, if we want to continue with the WC.
Neo, I agree with everything you said.. well put

True, but just think logically for a moment.
Who would you trust more running the spread option today? Pat White or Tyler Thigpen. I personally would trust TT more, PW makes me nervous everytime he touches the ball. I know that TT can’t throw any more erratically than PW either!

Hate to say it
but you are right. I was all for signing back Ronnie as long he was healthy, but this changes things quite a bit. For all we know, this late in a career for an RB, Ronnie might just consider retirement.

ALL SPECULATION
A source from the league? Not even a source from the team. So who’s reporting this the janitor of the Cleveland Browns? This story doesn’t tell me anything new. When injuries are unknown, there’s always a chance their season could be over.

Exactly
we dont know the extent of his injury, its pure speculation by that D-bag Florio.

Yeah lets let Ronnie hit FA and create another hole on this team
such great logic!

if the plug is on the sideline half the season
the hole is still there. Besides, we are talking about a RB’s foot. Who is to say, Ronni will come back and be “Ronnie”.BTW nobody suggested that we get rid of Ronnie, just approached the idea it could be the end as a Fin

But if it is true I hope that start to air the ball out more give Ginn a chance and like others have said maybe some of the rookies will shine

Wow, he really should've pushed for a new deal at the beginning of the season.
He is an excellent “soldier” but he might have been a bit too good for his own good. Should’ve gone for that contract. The RB position is just too unpredictable.

Couldnt they slap a franchise tag on him and try to get some compensation (draft picks)
from another team needing a running back.

being a dolphins fan...
and having ronnie brown on my fantasy team this is the worst news ever. Whose going to play Lex Hilliard or SHeets?

Never even heard of this thing...
… so I went here to check it out…
Very interesting in the “causes” section… and the “treatment” section sounds painful…

If it is Lisfranc Fx, RB WILL BE OUT FOR YEAR
I am an Orthopedic surgeon. If Ronnie Brown has LisFranc injury it will require surgery and he will be out for the year. He should however, be able to have full recovery. The reality is, that it will most likely decrease his value and hopefully Phins will be able to resign him.
by DAVEBUCK on Nov 18, 2009 12:56 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Very good point
If he does get the Lisfranc he could have slightly less leverage in contract talks and give himself up for a slightly better value.
If nothing else, perhaps the precedent set by Channing Crowder will allow us to sign this guy for numbers far below what he’s truly worth.
