signin of R. brown
can anyone tell me why no attempt has been made to resign R. brown? duh.........what ya waiting for? lets see how this could work out......
1. dolphins sign him, we have a great running game for the next 5 years.
2. he becomes a free agent and Pats sign him....we dont see the playoffs for the next 5 years. exception: wildcard
3. colts sign him and the rest of the AFC can watch manning hoist another trophy
lets be real, if we dont sign him, he's gonna go to another team and be succesfull. so why not keep him here. lets sign him before he see's big big money from someone else. hasn't he proven to all of us that he can be the franchise player? look.....everytime he gets the ball something good happens. he runs hard the whole game, he can catch and pick up blitzes. don't we as fans deserve to have a franchis player to cheer for? who have we had since marino left? jason taylor & zach thomas, lets put a running back in the hall of fame....and his name is Ronnie Brown. sign him already. i think he's got like 25 touchdowns and 3,000 yards the last 3 years. isnt that enough to make the front office want to keep him in miami? what do you guys think?

because if we sign him now
he could lose that intensity he is showing now, and i bet Ur saying he will never do that well it happened before. But I say sign him, this man is the only reason (Ricky as well) why they stack 8 or 19 in the box each game

It also could be that they've decided to wait until the end of the season to talk contracts
You know, because it can be a distraction.

it's also worth noting that if...
…no new CBA is reached and 2010 is an uncapped year, then Brown is NOT a free agent. He would actually have 1 year left worth $5 million.
that could be another reason. no need to extend him if he still has a year left.

Also Injury
If we sign him now to a bigger contract and he gets hurt again…

This
also we could be on a wait and see aproach just in case he gets injured again before years end ,if he plays injury free this season then he will get a new deal assuming the cba reaches no agreement we could also wait another year

That's it..!
Smart of the team to wait on what happens with the CBA…
So, basically, Ronnie is on the books unless a new agreement is in place…
I’m not even going to worry about this again… thanks Matty.

Ronnie is a classy guy and player
I highly doubt he feels any need to put his business out in the media. I am sure that there are talks that are on going…..probably not “franticly” but in the traditional “take things slowly” and things will work themselves out.

I am not so sure about that
Look at the last couple of games. It seems that the offense is phasing out Ronnie a little bit at a time. Ricky taking direct snaps in the Wildcat. Pat White playing more Spread / Wildcat type offense. Ricky being the running back in passing situations. Ronnie is getting fewer and fewer touches lately. Is that because he is not going to be around much longer? IDK.

If he discusses leaving publicly...
he might disappear for a few days, APBs would be put out, but he would mysteriously show up to get re-signed a few days later… and never discuss leaving again….

I know this will be unpopular but i think we should trade him to the NFC
Reason #1
Ronnie Brown is going to warrant a rather large contract. Good rb’s come out into the draft every year. This is one position where it is relatively easy to replace.
#2
We dont want him in the AFC if we dont resign him. At least this way we can dictate where he ends up and make sure we dont regret it when we play his team. ala Wes Welker
#3
Brown has had some devastating injuries in the past. Whether or not he is “injury prone” is an issue that must be evaluated
#4
Age and carries on a rb are never a good combo. Ronnie would be 30+ at the end of a basic 5 year extension. So in essence we would be top dollar for a split carry back who may break down the last couple of years
#5
Value.. Brown is one guy on our team that has value around the league. If we are still in a rebuild phase then Ronnie will no doubt rake in the draft picks
I probably know Judo! How many of you can make the same boast?

I don't think RBs are easy find
How many years were the Fins looking when we had Marino…..Ummmm…the whole 17 years he played for us. Lately the RBs are coming out good, but most of them are 1st round picks. With the fact we have built the wildcat, I think that we are looking at signing him to at least an additional 2-3 years…..and possibly taking a couple shots later in the draft for his replacement.
by Vanman_FishFan13 on Nov 12, 2009 1:05 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I agree. We went forever trying to find a true number one back. You cant just go out and replace him.

.... only if someone overpays for Ronnie...
I agree with what you’re saying and I’ve suggested the same in the past. The offensive line deserves a bit more credit than what Ronnie or Ricky are doing out there this year. If someone were to overpay for Ronnie I’d love to see a trade. Maybe a #1 Wide Receiver and a draft pick…
Ricky would fit in nicely and Hilliard could be brought along slowly next year. I wouldn’t mind seeing a running back by committee situation. We’re seeing holes in the offensive line for the Running Backs in the last two years. That’s something we never had when we were looking for Running Backs in the past.

As much as I hate to say it
you make a lot of sense Souwantmyname. I don’t want to see him go but if it helps the team..then so be it. I didn’t want Chambers to go at the time but now looking back it was DEFINITELY the right move. And Ronnie sure as hell is going to demand a bigger price tag.

u guys are all crazy
RB is priceless. Yeah we could pick up anohter running back late in the draft, but he wont run the WC the way RB does. The guy is perfect for what we do. There is NO WAY that the tuna doesnt realize this. Brown will get resigned. bank on it.

rb/rw
didn’t parcells already hand ricky his next year’s salary in a note on the practice field, while rw was exercising? did that not pan out?
rb, 97 percent he’s staying. just hope we don’t get too smart about it.
the tandem is at the heart of fins building, no?
by a1a on Nov 11, 2009 10:31 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
His re-signing depends on what he's asking for.
If he asks for top 5 RB money, which he’s already said he thinks he is. Parcells will let him walk or trade him. If he continues producing mediocre numbers, then we should be able to re-sign him for cheap. But the reality is, in 4 and a half years in the league, he’s averaging 858 yards rushing per year, almost 6 TDs per year, and 34 receptions per year for 287 yards. Not exactly top 5 numbers.
by luvs2drnk on Nov 12, 2009 9:42 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
HE'S BEEN splitting carries since he came in the league.
and had an injury. If he stays on track this year, he’ll break 1,000 WHILE splitting carries. If you give RB the worload, he will carry it, and be worth top 5 money.

the only problem there
is the one time in his career he did have the workload, he blew his knee up halfway through the season. At this point, you still don’t know if he can handle the workload, precisely because he’s never done it.

Exactly the point I've brought up about Brown since we drafted him.
He’s never been a workhorse back in his whole college and professional careers. And each time they increase his workload, he winds up getting injured. As for splitting carries being the reason for the reduced stats? That didn’t stop Derrick Ward, Brandon Jacobs, Deangelo Williams, or Chris Johnson from gaining 1000+ yards while splitting carries. I wouldn’t mind paying him top 5 money, as long as he produces top 5 stats. Something he has yet to do.
by luvs2drnk on Nov 17, 2009 2:31 AM EST up reply actions 1 recs
But we haven’t had a good O-line untill this year. And now we have no recievers so every team can stack the box and make our running game not look great. If we have at least one playmaking reciever then rb rushes for 1000 + yards a season easily.

it all sounds like excuses to me
we heard excuses for why John Beck was terrible and why Ted Ginn hasn’t blossomed, and it didn’t happen with either of them.
Ronnie is a hell of a runner, but I have a hard time considering him a top 5 back in this league. For most of this year, Ricky has looked like the more explosive runner, and a lot of people forget the kind of runner Ricky was before his hiatus. He was the best RB in the league. And he looks like he still has it at this point. Him and Ronnie make a great tandem, but neither of them have much longer in the league (Ricky probably 1 more year, Ronnie possibly 3). Personally, I’d like to see what a guy like CJ Spiller can do behind our snowplow OL..

I don't buy the bad OL and no WR excuse.
A top 5 back, gets yards regardless of his offense. Adrian Peterson, Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, and Matt Forte come to mind.
