For those who wanted Ginn to be cut .....

we'd now be looking at 2-5.   I think there is general acknowledgement of Ginn's weaknesses as a receiver.   Whether or not he is able to improve up on this is still up in the air.   That said, there is a certain segment of posters who seem to want to scapegoat Ginn for almost every shortcoming on the Dolphin teams of the past three years.

Today is one of those days where the explosiveness of Ginn was a game changer.   Yes ----- we haven't seen nearly enough of it but ...... let's face it, the Jets totally shut down our offense today and our defense didn't do a great job of containing a fairly weak Jets offense (although ...... much credit is due to the defense for their work on the last Jets drive).  Without Ginn today, the Dolphins lose ........ plain and simple.   I'm wondering if any credit will be given him from those who seem to want to fault him for pretty much everything.

I Agree

I wish he would play at reciever like that, if that was the case we would be undefeated.

Is Ted Ginn Jr the next Dante Hall or Devin Hester?

I like what i Heard from one commentator today

You don’t ever fully give up on a Young Player!

I think that is especially true when they have talent and skill, you can’t teach speed and vision instinct like he showed on the return’s today. But sometimes you need to find the right spot for him and see where he is comfortable to build him up again.

by Ex Sniper on Nov 1, 2009 4:47 PM EST reply actions

Agree .....

with both Hawk and Ex Sniper. Ginn’s speed is really at another level. How he develops as a receiver is still very much up in the air. What one saw today on the returns, though, is a demonstration of the amazing breakaway speed Ginn has. The first return he pretty much just flat out got the opening on the outside and outran everyone. The second return, though, was impressive in the way he made some quick moves to avoid defenders while looking for an opening. If he could do some of that as a receiver (say with passes in the flat) as well as his threat for deep passes, he could add dimension to his value as a receiver (and, of course, he has to catch the ball consistently).

What one still can see with Ginn, though, is that even in the NFL with the great speed that many players have, Ginn still is able to be a breakaway threat with just a half-step of daylight. This is a gift that can’t be taught. If Ginn allows himself to learn more, work hard, etc. …… I still think he is valuable because of his ability to change a game on a dime with a breakaway ….. whether on a return, a pass or a reverse.

Just keep him off as a reciever and I'm fine. I loved the 2 tds btw.

And you know what

maybe this is what he needs to develop his receiver skill’s and not be so afraid to take a hit.

You gotta stay in bounds and push for those yards as a returner. I think this will help him overall to be a good threat. a Good Example Percy Harvin.

Percy Harvin's the real deal.

I believe some poeple where saying Ginn was going to be the real deal too

I would wait till the kid is at least out of his rookie year before calling any one a ‘real deal’

Nah, Ginn never made a statement. Harvin is starting to look even better than Hester.

ginn shouldnt be a receiver

he should be a kick-return specialist, who sometimes runs the ball (outside)

i can see that

give him the occassional end around, but we already do that. What it boils down to is he needs to continue making plays. No matter how the team uses him, he is the one who is incontrol of himself on the field. Noone else can be blamed for whatever he muffs up.

Speakin of control, i just watched the post game press conference, teddy has a serious speech impediment! lol!

Crazy Day

I’ll be the first to admit that I thought they should have cut Ginn. But he saved his job for another day. Keep him returning kicks and taking limited snaps on offense. I’ll give him props this week, but still think that he needs a lot of improvement.

Also, his earlier returns were terrible, he was tackled by the kicker twice. But he made up for that. Now he just needs to be consistently that explosive on special teams.

I wanted on our our guys to deck Feeley so bad

if your kicker is gonna play like that then you deserve to get him knocked the F out.. Its an unwritten rule not to destroy the kicker but its bs what that guy was doing

LOL I know. I was laughing my ass off as Ginn when he got tackled by the kicker on the

first two kickoffs. I was thinking that he was going to catch hell on here for that never guessing that he would return one let alone two.

1 good game doesnt excuse him for 3 seasons of poor performances

you say we would be 2-5 without him today, but if he caught passes we would have come into the game 4-2

by FishNFinz on Nov 1, 2009 8:23 PM EST reply actions

FishNFinz; Texascowpunk

I didn’t say he was stellar before. He did cost us games in the past (although I’d argue that he was at least a contributor to the first Jets win). Ginn himself said in one of his post-game interviews today that he felt horrible about his performance against NO. And ….. I don’t disagree that he needs to show more as a receiver on a consistent basis. All true.

But for today …… Ginn almost singlehandedly won the game for the Dolphins. What he showed today was the talent that persuaded the Dolphins to use their first round pick for him.

by Jeff I on Nov 1, 2009 10:21 PM EST reply actions

Ginn and Henne need to get together and just try to get a feel for eachother when and how much time he has before he has a corner burned with that much speed, and then how much muscle henne has to put on the ball to get it to him at the perfect time.
