ISSUE 1:

Ok. So I have desperately been trying to put a weekly newsletter for the site together, but let's face it... the season started pretty crappy until last week. So here's the deal, after every win, I will personally present a Wildcat Weekly, a conglomeration of Fins news, thoughts, jokes, trivia, bloggers opinions and other fun crap. At worst, it will be something to keep you busy until Rizzy's famous ITM's or Matty's up to the millisecond news updates.

So without further ado, I formally welcome you to the Wildcat Weekly...

Dolphins beat down Buffalo-

JT lays down the law

The highlight- Vontae Davis pick 6. Once this happened you knew it was a great start and a taste of things to come.

The shining star- How about Cam Wake filling in for Peezy. Hoping this is common image seen every Sunday.

The Game Ball- I'd give it to Henne for doing exectly what he was asked to do, let the two big guys behind you pound the rock. Hell, if it was Chad i'd personally hand deliver the game ball to the R&R Express for making it so easy to do my job.

My take: Maybe Buffalo really is that bad? But, even so, we defeated a mediocre team how we should. By beating them down at home. Screw grinding it down to a last second FG, we beat them very uncharacteristically, by a blowout and by physically abusing them behind the league's leading rushing attack.

Have you noticed Pittsburgh is playing like we used to, by not closing out games? It cost them a loss to CIN and almost another one Sunday night against SD. Miami has started off 0-3, if we get the lead we can't afford to let any more close ones slip away like the ex champs have done recently.

But in conclusion, we got a big win at a PERFECT time. It was a great feel, especially for Henne to get comfortable before a very very important game next Monday Night.

Jets @ Dolphins: MNF-

Here's the game of the week folks. Let me be honest: THIS IS A MUST WIN. We will be sporting our orange uni's in which we are 2-0. There is nothing I would want more than to see a repeat of Sanchez's last week performance. Sean Smith, this could be your time to show Vontae up on another pick 6.

If the Dolphins win they will be 2-0 in the division, the best divison record in the AFC East. This division record could be as important as it was last year. I repeat, this is A MUST WIN game at home, and if we do, the dolphins will go into the bye week a new team; confident and ready to compete for the division title.

We will need to run effectively, and no, it won't be easy. We haven't faced a good RUSH D yet, and I agree with Matty, I won't give in to the FINS as the #1 RUSHING TEAM until they have faced a formidable opponent. Our defense will need to play like they did last week or better, we can't rely on our offense to put us up by a big margin against the Jets D. We need to stop the run, pressure Sanchez, and cover the Jets'  receivers. Gibril and Crowder, I'm looking at you guys. Wake needs to see some action and JT and Peezy need to do the rest to keep Sanchez on his back.

UPDATE 10/7: JETS TRADE FOR WR BRAYLON EDWARDS

So the Jets, possibly the riskiest NFL team in football, trade WR Chansi Stuckey, LB Jason Trusnik and two picks (believed to be a 3rd and 5th rounder in 2010) for the inconsistent receiver out of Cleveland. This leaves Miami as the only team in our division to not sign a big name WR (OK wilford DOES NOT count lol) over the last 4 years.

What does this mean?

I've never been a fan of Turner, but perhaps Parcells & Co. would rather uncover a late round gem then shell out big round bucks for a big name target. I am beginning to think he would rather allocate our cash toward the offensive and defensive lines, which I think is a smarter and safer move. HOWEVER, the NFL has quickly turned into a pass-first league; just think how Peyton Manning single handedly beat us in week 2 in only about 15 minutes of possession. Bill might want to reconsider his old school approach and atleast consider a big name prospect because now that Henne is our go-to guy, he will need more than Ginn at a #1 for him to be the guy we want and NEED him to be.

I'm not even sure if Braylon will play Monday, and if he does, I expect him to be bottled up quite easy. I hate the Jets but I have to admire their gusto to make this move because lets face it, Edwards has alot of upside. Hopefully, he continues to suck though, and we will have nothing to worry about.

LittleNicky, new offense coordinator?-

Here is what Nicky posted the other day about a potential new Miami defensive strategy..

Wake is too quick for most NFL RT’s, so start him at LOLB. Porter is a crafty vet and is really only good at pass rushing, so let him work the LT at ROLB. JT is the most versatile and athletically gifted of the three, and he’s able to play in space, stuff the run, and cover TE’s/RB’s, so play him in the middle. Take Crowder and Akin out. Put all 3 CB’s in the game, and walk Bell into the box. Now it’s a 3-3-5 that looks like a 3-4 because Bell is essentially the 4thAyodele.

You now have Smith, Allen, and Davis matched up on the 3 best receiving threats on the field (that includes Leon Washington anytime he’s in), Gibril Wilson (I’d rather see Clemons, but we all know it’s going to be Wilson) sitting up top reading the rookie’s eyes, and a Nickel Set that can easily become an 8 man box with Bell and Davis (our most physical corner) playing close.

You also have a nasty 5 man rush with the 3 DL and Porter/Wake, with the ability to drop either OLB and blitz JT, Bell, or Davis, or send a jailbreak 6-7 man rush with Porter/Wake/Taylor all coming hard. Block that, Jets. When needed, JT or Bell can matchup on the TE, and with the extra DB on the field, we’ll be able to more exotic zones because of the speed.

Definitely something to think about, and you have to admire the speed we would have on the field. Having Wake and Porter blitz the outside would definetly provide pressure and I would love having JT as more of QB spy position. His knowledge definetly outweighs his speed at this stage of his career and he is still a serious playmaker. We'd also have the rookies on the field making plays and I would rather have Wilson playing LB because he makes alot of tackles against the run (unless he tackles like he has been this year [in where I would bench him in favor of Clemons]) and i'd let Bell provide the safety coverage.

It's definitely something to think about, what do you think?

Some tidbits to think about:

-How about Brett Favre becoming the first QB to beat every one of the NFL's 32 teams. Don't really like Brett's backstabbing decision but gotta give him props for this record. Will this ever be done again???

-Remember the AFC East before they redesigned it? Imagine having to play the colts twice as well every year. The AFC East would hold the 2 best QBs and would contain Miami, New England, Indy, New York, Buffalo.

-Am i still the only one still thinking about Rey Mauluga? Maybe I should just let it go. But honestly, remember when I was saying to draft him and everybody reassured me he would go top 15 and he wouldn't be around. Well not only was he around, but even after we selected Vontae at #25, he was sitting there for us in ROUND 2! It was a no brainer right? Well apparently not; we selected Pat White from WVU. Now, I like Pat and all, but I expect him to show me some serious stuff within the next 3 years to show me why the FO would rather select a #3 QB over a starting LB. Just think; Davis, Maualuga, and Smith could have been the best draft Miami has ever seen!!!

-What's with Crowder this year? It looks like he's sleepwalking. Didn't he lead the team in taclkes last year? I'm hoping someone lights a fire under his ass so he doesn't look so lethargic.

-If the Dolphins win do we buy into the superstition that the Orange Uni = a guarenteed win? If so, do we save it for important games like playoff matchups or do we keep it locked up until we reach the super bowl??

-Do we NOW realize how important Ronnie Brown is to our team? You can give me that "Running backs are replacable" talk all day long... our team would be right with Buffalo at the cellar of the East without Ronnie's hardnosed style. Please sign him and keep him in teal and orange.
