Can the Dolphins still make the playoffs?

I say anything is possible in this league, that is why people bet.  Of course, some odds are astronomical, but the question remains, is it too late for the Fins to win their division, or possibly a wild card?

Still, being super bowl-starved for 40 years will make you go a little crazy, so all of us who are die-hard fin fans still have insanity and hope on our side.  Speaking of insanity, how is that Saints hang over going for you?  I am still lived about the bad calls, especially the Saints pick off of Ginn and the subsequent fumble that was not called. Sick I tell you. We are supposed to keep our mouth shuts the "collective" tells us and understand that we need to move on.  That one or two plays didn't lose that game.  We have no choice but to move on, but still, wouldn't it be nice  to see some personal responsibility on behalf of the NFL to come out and say, "we blew it"?

Okay, I digressed....I told you that 40 years of super bowl starvation can make you a little insane.  Back to the topic at hand...

Star-divide

The fish have 10 games left.   I believe they must win 9 out of 10 to finish 11- 5 and have hope of a wild card birth or possibly win the division.  Can they actually win 9 out of 10?  Here is what I see coming up in the schedule and how the AFC East could finish.  Remember, I have hope and insanity on my side.

Week                                Miami                             New England                          New York                     Buffalo

                                          11-5                                11-5                                           8-8                                 5-11

8                                        @Jets (W)                     Bye                                            Miami  (L)                     Houston (loss)

9                                        @Pats (L)                     Miami                                         Bye                                Bye

10                                      Bucs   (W)                    @Indy                                         Jags  (W)                     @Tenn (win)

11                                     @Carolina (W)            Jets  (W)                                   @New England (L)      @Jax (loss)

12                                     @Buffalo (W)               @New Orleans (L)                 Carolina- (W)                 Miami (loss)

13                                     New England (W)        @Miami (L)                             @Buffalo-W)                  Jets (loss)

14                                     @Jax (W)                       Carolina (W)                           @Bucs- (W)                   Kansas (win)

15                                     @Tenn (W)                   @ Buffalo (W)                          Atlanta-(L)                      New England (loss)

16                                     Houston (W)                Jacksonville (W)                     @Indy- (L)                       @Atlanta (loss)

17                                     Pittsburgh  (W)            @Houston (W)                        Cincinnati-(L)                @Indy (loss)

Here me out:  Of the 10 games left, 5 of them are plain bad, Bucs, Tennessee, Carolina, Jax and Buffalo. They have a combined record of 8-24.   Of the other 5 games left we split with the Pats which I think is definitely possible.  So that leaves 3 tough  wins to get. The Jets,  we have beat them already,  so I say we can do it again. Now we are down to 2 teams.  Houston and Pittsburgh, both at home.  Pittsburgh is the very last game, so they possibly could be in a situation where they are not in a must win and resting starters (possibly).  Houston is a toss up but I don't see them being a team that Miami can't beat at home.  So there you have it. Miami has put themselves in a big hole and must pull out 5 tough wins, and beat the teams that are sub-par. For those of us super bowl-starved...it is our only hope for 2009.

Can we? Definitely. Will we? Hard to say.

We definitely CAN.
Everybody is putting New Orleans in the Super Bowl in Miami and even with Teddy “bobbled a catchable ball away yet a” Ginn doing his best to drop every pass near him, were driving for the winning TD at the end of the game. We took the Colts to the brink close enough to have Teddy “drop the winning TD a” Ginn at the end.
BUT if we don’t address the issues (dropped passes, defensive miscues, poor tackling, questionable coaching) we will only agonizingly dream of what could have been instead of aggressively claiming what can be ours for the taking.
We also need to beat the Jets this Sunday.
First Things First.

We loss to the best 2 team in the NFL right now, but..

we loss by simple mistakes and drops. We werent beat badly. HELL! we could have won BOTH game!.
Dont worry! we get better as the season progress, so we are in a good road finish trip!

I will see the Dolphins win a SUPER BOWL before i die(22 years and counting)

we can

but I’m not sure if we will. We are the same record as last year at this time and although at the beginning of this season the schedule looked ominous, it doesn’t seem as bad now. How we do tomorrow will be a big indicator or what should come.

i said earlier...

we got the cobwebs out..we handled the “best” teams in the league…we came up short (defense)..but the remaining games we can handle…we gave the league a handicap, and now we take ’em to the endzone…Fins light the lamp, and make the playoffs..I know I wish more than I can back up, but thats the Fins job…..Knowledge is power, and I believe we are the smartest team in the league..Tony, and team, I know your will is stronger than all..Just do it!!!!..Chicago and beyond!!!!

sure it's possible

and i will never give up hope until the day we are mathematically eliminated. but for it to happen we’re going to need to run off 5 or 6 wins in a row and then see how the rest of the division shapes up. there looks to be two teams in each division with better records than us fighting for the title and the wild card. we’re going to need some help either way, but i think the best chance is for the jets and pats to falter and we win the division. otherwise, i’m afraid we’re already behind the eight ball in the wild card race. and, unfortunately, the same for the division title. losing games have consequences, but we
’re not dead yet.

The only way...

Fins make the playoffs is to beat Jets today, then beat the Pats twice. Once won’t cut it. Like everyone else I assume the Steelers won’t have any incentive to win since they’ll have the division sown up. Now, can anyone say “Bengals”? No one counted on the Bengals not being the Bungles this year. Thus, Steelers may need to win the game in Miami. And even assuming the Fins beat Jets and then Pats, then comes the Bucs, who are starting Freeman. what if he lights a fire under them? and what if the Fins, after beating Jets and Pats, let down and lose to Bucs? What if titans suddenly start playing like last year? Yes, it could happen they make playoffs, but likely they won’t (unless Davis and Smith are the second coming of Lott and Wright!)

We have our hands full with Ginn drops..

dont add to the situation that bad teams are gona rise like the phoenix, cause it could happen that good team got on bad grove and player star to get injure. Forget about the if and good teams adapt to whatever comes in from of them. Think we have learn that with NO ; ) IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN

Playoff... Very possible with a lil help from the Jets,Indy,Jacksonville.

Although you never know whats going to happen. One thing is for sure, that we are not making the playoff via wild card. Having teams like Steelers,Ravens,Bengals and maybe San Diego(late season run) is going to be hard. We are going to need New England to drop the ball and loose some games. Jacksonville is always a tough game for them. Indy, well If Indy wants a Superbowl they have to knock New England out of the picture(always a tough game for Indy), Jets Have to win to even things out a liltle if not the jets, Buffalo(long shot, but at times defense is really good).

11-5 it a push but 9-7 is a better and more realitic situation to favor us.

Dolphins can stop the run, New England is not that great at it this year. We have a shot!!!

Go Dolphins!!

I'm expecting a 10-6 quite frankly. It'll be difficult at this point to finish .500 or less.
