Kings Idea Is Trash
Alright guys, Matty and Peter, no offense, but Peter Kings idea on throwing the ball 40 times to loosen up the Wildcat, will not work.
Do you guys remember last week when we lost to the Saints? Sure you do. Well, what was the reason we lost? That reason was that we passed the ball way too much. In the first half, we did not pass the ball 20 times, no, we ran the ball the majority of the time, and look where it got us, a 24-3 lead at one point, and 24-10 at half.
Throwing the ball is not what this team is built to be, and any buffoon who knows football could tell you that.
If the Dolphins pass the ball more than they should in tomorrows game, they will not get close to winning. Passing the ball will get us nowhere in fact, it only increases the chances of us attracting more and more 3rd and longs, which will draw various creative "jailhouse" blitzes.
So no, passing the ball will get us nowhere against the Jets. We would be stupid if we did not take advantage of the injury to Kris Jenkins. This is something we need to recognize, and run the ball down the Jets throats.
Does anybody agree with me on this? Matty?

To a degree I agree
I agree that last week we should have stuck with the run and not invited the shoot out that we got and lost last week. But this week they are expecting the run. So if we come out passing. with quality short throws to Bess, Cam, Hartline. and get ahead then we can wear them down in the second half and drain the clock.
You are right in a lot of regards,we are not built to throw but with Henne’s Arm we have an addition to the building where we can throw now and the recievers just need to learn where to be and actualy catch the ball obviously for it to work. OR more running back or T.E. Passes like last year to loosen it up. All I am saying is quality Throws High Percentage Passes.

using the pass to set up the run would be a good idea

I totally agree with you house party
One thing that I forgot to mention is that Henne enhances our ability to put numbers up on the board. Sure, we can make the short passes, and still score more points than we could with CP10, but, passing the ball 40 times is not smart with this only being Henne’s 4th career start.
Running the ball and making the short passes lets him build up his confidence for the final drive in the 4th quarter. The bombs in the 1st dont work, and the fact that Ginn is our only deep threat does not help.
Taking time off the clock benefits us, and that is our way of winning the game, running the ball effectively, and passing the ball when necessary, to keep the defense honest.

PTR baby
what else is there? Thats what we do, lets just do it.
I understand them wanting to open up Henne when we had a big lead, help him build confidence and all. Unfortunately it backfired on them, and we lost the game. It was the wrong place and time, if we had that lead to the bills, then yeah, let henne throw, not against the saints.

We don't HAVE to run and we SHOULDN'T run if there are 10 in the box and they are blitzing their CBs
Thankfully with Henne, we don’t have to only run.
BUT we must never ABANDON the run like we did against the Saints. All that leaves you is 3rd and long.
You will see SMART running teams continue to sprinkle in a run or two even against 8 in the box, just to keep the defense honest.
You never know when they will fake a run blitz, shift out of their SHOW defense and expect pass.
With Ronnie and Ricky, if they break a tackle, they are GONE especially if there are 8-10 in the box.
You just have to modify your runs to misdirection, cut-backs, and backside reverses, and screen/slants.
NEVER lose the threat of play-action!

disagree
We lost to the Saints because of dropped passes, missed calls, and lost opportunities. You have to have a balance. I am sure the Jets plan to use the same gameplan as the Saints. No matter how good the Wildcat is, the answer to combat a 9 man blitz is to pass, hope the recievers can make the catch, and then make thier man miss. Bottom Line: Start Ronny and Ricky as our #1 and #2 WR. Sell Ginn for a jar of pickle juice

r u serious
i mean i areed with every thing besides the bottom line one) r&r would not be good recivers first of all route running is super duper hard and r&r would not get it done on this and two who would be our RB’S cmc and 2) ted ginn is worth more than pickle juice maybe some candy since its halloween, i hope its chocalate.

agree
Play the game with the team you have. To pass just because you’ve been running too much is stupid. If I can get 4 yards a carry 90% of the time, then I’ll run it ’till the legs come off. Go Fins. Kill the Jet.
