Dolphins vs Jets: Prediction Time

Happy Halloween, everyone!

It's time once again to see who all the "talking heads" are picking in Sunday's game:

Chris Mortensen - NYJ Adam Schefter - NYJ Mark Schlereth - NYJ
Tom Jackson - Mia Chris Carter - Mia Pete Prisco - NYJ
Harmon Forecast - NYJ PFT - Mia Peter King - Mia
Charles Robinson - NYJ Jason Cole - Mia Michael Silver - NYJ

Not as much love from these guys as I thought the Dolphins would get.  I think a lot of people believe that the Dolphins will still be deflated over their tough loss last week and will come out flat on the road on Sunday.  But I'm not buying that idea.

Speaking of ideas, Peter King actually shares an interesting one.  He writes in his pick that he believes Rex Ryan "had the Jets working OT this week to figure out" how to slow the Wildcat - possibly taking ideas from what the Saints did last week.  King thinks that, to counter Ryan, Tony Sparano and company will have Chad Henne throw 40 passes.

Could you imagine?  It would be a bold decision by the Dolphins if they came out firing.  What scares me most is how much I actually like an idea presented by Peter King.  I think he might be on to something here.  I think the Dolphins could very well come out and throw to loosen up the Jets before pounding them with Ronnie and Ricky.

And I think the Dolphins will somehow find a way to knock off their division rivals for the second time in less than a month.  Put me down for a 23-16 game - Dolphins win.

My Week 8 Locks
Colts -11.5 over 49ers
- I was on the Niners bandwagon for a little bit, but the wheels have come off.  Peyton Manning and company will put up 35+ on Sunday.
Texans -3.5 over Bills - How is this spread so little?  The Texans, with Andre Johnson expected to play, should put up a ton of points up in Buffalo en route to at least a 10 point win.
Bears -13.5 over Browns - The Browns are one of the three worst teams in the league and they will get destroyed up in Soldier Field.  Look for Jay Cutler to have a big day throwing the ball.
Cowboys -9.5 over Seahawks - Dallas showed me a lot last week by dominating Atlanta.  I expect a similar performance against a far weaker team.

Last Week: 3-1
Season: 10-10

Ahh I see you like the Rizzmiggizz lock of the week as well..

I’ll have a lil action on that Hou game…i have no idea why its so low.

I predict we do the Wildcat flipback to Henne deep bomb pass this week…..apparently the way to stop the Wildcat was magically invented last week annd it involves blitzing you corners….go for it….i see a Hillard or Haynos slipping deep for that trickeration

Screw da Jests, but...

couple o’ concerns…P.King’s theory can easily be applied by da Jests against us as well. 2 rookie corners, a very lacking safety-combo, and idk, admittedly kinda worried, but F’ IT, the main concern are these frik’n Refs…unreal! Still, GO FINZ, sweep these JESTICLES-fakaz and this season is salvaged for this finfanatik!! CHHHEEEHOOOOOO!

Man I love being the underdog

The Jest and us have the best rushing attack in the NFL. Well, we’ll both be missing a key player who can stop the run.

They don’t have Jenkins and we don’t have Crowder (who is doubtful).

The comparison between Crowder and Jenkins is ridiculous.

We lost a top 3 NT, you lost Crowder a guy who would be a backup for our linebacking corps.

We’re home so I’ll take a low scoring 17-13 Jets win.

No, but it makes a big difference.

The difference playing at Land Shark then the Meadowlands is huge. for one you have the crowd behind you, you know the I tendencies of the stadium..( meadowlands wind) etc. So i’ll take the home team in a matchup of two even teams basically.

Respect

I know the game is in cold NY and the Jets are favourites, but CBS (Prisco) and ESPN sites both have 10+ point wins, and predicting Sanchez will have a field day against us. 10 points???? that doesn’t show alot of respect.

If our Pass Rush plays like last week, i think we will rattle Sanchez, but this game is all about running the ball and stopping the run.

and Henne should be more used to playing in cold weather then Sanchez :)

We need to win this, go Phins!

Bay is uber-overrated, Titans blow, and why does no one have faith in Denver?

Aaron Rodgers might be the most overrated QB since Romo. He’s never done anything and everybody has annointed him the next Favre.

Aaron Rodgers has never done anything?

Last year he passed for over 4000 yds and 28 TDs

As for the Titans, they gotta win sometime right? What better time than at home, after a bye, against a divisional for?

As for Denver, The Ravens has lost 3 straight and I think they are due dor a win, just as Denver is due for a loss. A balance of things-)

What I'm saying is...

I’d like to see him actually bring his team somewhere. Philip Rivers has 300 games vitrtually every weekend, and they hardly win too much. It’s about bringing your team back or up against tough teams, not piling on uber-yardage against someone like the Lions.

Right. I heard rumors that Rodgers and Jared Allen got to know each other so well durring the game in Minnesota that they actually exchanged #s after the game. I’ll look into that futher to see if there is any truth.

I woudn't say we can't stop the run.

Our run defense is average or slightly above average, but that figure to go down with Jenkins down. Both teams should be able to run the ball, the real question mark is if Henne can repeat his performance in the first meeting. I don’t think he’ll be bad but I think he’ll throw a costly pick. (Yes it still counts if it bounces off Ginn’s hands)

I don't think that will be much of an issue.

The Jets have really scaled down the playbook, and only threw it 15 times against Oakland while running 55 times. If you guys get a 10-14 lead and Sanchez is forced to march us down the field then I’ll worry about him turning the ball over.
