Dez Bryant to Miami in 2010

If Dez Bryant comes out in 2010 I say we make a move for him... Whos with me!? A big time playmaker or WR is our most glaring need, so why not just fill them both at the same time? Ted Ginn can't make any catches, and Bess obviously isn't a number one. If Henne is to ever develop into the Star he should (and will be) then it starts with bringing in a young WR who can be a star likewise.

Depending on draft position

I expect either Dez Bryant, Rolando McClain, Sam Bradford, Terrence Cody, or Mays to be a dolphin come 2010

Yea

draft 3 QBs in 3 straight drafts. BRILLANT!

If both were coming out of the draft at the same time, who would you take?

Im just curious. I think I’d go for Bradford. A Heisman is heisman.

by MauMontaV5 on Oct 29, 2009 11:42 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I like Bradford, but there's about a gazillion red flags that come with him

First, he operates in a spread offense, which can make it difficult to adjust to the pro game under center. Second, he’s injury prone and a bit underweight for the position. He needs to bulk up immensely or he’s going to be an IR machine in the pros.

Is it wrong that I wouldn’t take any QB in this draft over Chad Henne? I think CH7 is a great match for the kind of offense we’re looking to operate.

NO BRADFORD! Injury to a throwing shoulder is a death sentence for a QB

he didnt have the strongest arm to begin with

Just like Drew Brees' shoulder injury then... right?...

Sidenote: get bradford is a dumb decision anyways. henne is going to be fine once he settles down and gets some chemistry with receivers who consistently catch passes.

I am not saying

I want to HAVE to use another draft pick on a QB. I do believe though that 3 games is far to early to come to the conclusion that a QB is the next coming. I hope Henne is the man BUT after this season if the team isn’t convinced then Bradford could slip to a spot that we can take him and a guy like Bradford(who would have been the #1 pick had he come out) doesn’t come along often for a team that ISN’T drafting in the top 3 to 5.

I hope Henne is the man and we can draft defense thus my Cody, Mays, McClain choices either of the 3 would be my hope considering the 15 or lower draft position we’ll have

i expect none of those u mention Blaze

get Henne a veteran receiver along with Bess and Hartline…They need to worry about NT, MLB and TE….I saw go after Gresham (TE from Oklahoma), then NT, then MLB, and then best players available…

Funny thing is we should be looking at trying to get Kellen Winslow from Tampa for a middle of the draft pick…..

McClain is the best 3/4 inside backer in draft

while Cody is a top end NT and Mays is a top 5 talent FS

Bradford isn't and will never be anything more than an overhype.

He gets his stats from playing mostly horrible teams. His release is bad, and he stares down his #1 receiver for eternity until he throws. Same for McCoy. Safteies and corners will slaughter them. Just watching them play has made me disgusted. Plus the pressure from being annointed savior is impossible and impracticle, considering the teams that draft #1 quarterbacks usually have a hell of alot more problems than their QB. And fans/ownership is uber-instant gratification. If you don’t save your team by halfway through the season, you’re done.

separates winners from the rest of the bunch. That guy is going to be a stud

by MauMontaV5 on Oct 29, 2009 11:44 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well, I wouldn't say "superbly." I agree Stafford is going to be a good pro, though

Playing with Calvin Johnson will make his life easier, but Detroit has got to invest some money in their offensive line. The reason Stafford is hurt right now is because the Bears dry humped him for an entire afternoon and really hit him hard.

Stafford

Didn’t he have his knee cap ripped off or something. See franchise LT.

by FinFanFromCA on Oct 30, 2009 1:40 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He's actually lucky he got injured. It gives him a reprieve, and an excuse for losses

Plus Culpepper isn’t doing much better. Stafford has Megatron and a decent running game. But lest I say it, it’s more than a QB up there, its the D, the O-line, and the entire culture. I would lower myself during the combine, just to get payed less money, but so I could go to a winning culture.

Stafford also came out of Pro-Style Offense at UGA

There’s less of a learning curve for that type of quarterback as opposed to Bradford who takes pretty much every snap out of shotgun. I think he’d be stud if he didn’t play for the Lions. I just don’t see that team turning it around in time for Stafford to be declared a stud in the NFL.

by Cokes_03 on Oct 30, 2009 12:06 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, I don't know if Bryant will be around when we select

I am starting to like Damian Williams from USC a lot (I know, I know… You’re thinking “Another USC receiver?”) but he looks like he’ll be a very solid receiver in the pros. His route running is flawless, his hands are great and he has underrated speed.

I still think we’ll focus on defense in this draft. Inside linebacker will probably be our first move, though we might spring for Cody if he’s still around. I was initially fine with the idea of getting Mays, but I am pretty much off his bandwagon now. We need a strong safety who can lay the big hit AND play the ball, and Mays isn’t so great with the latter.

Bottom line is our linebacker corps needs to upgraded, as well as NT and S.

I think not

looking back at the draft where Parcells took his stud OLB’s Dunlap has all the attributes he covets. Big frame, speed, long arms and freakish athletic ability.

His body isnt unnatural like Gholston (yes roids) so he shouldn’t get that comparison. I wont be surprised if Parcells took him over some of our more glaring needs

I’m disappointed Bill hasn’t found our Lawrence Taylor, John Abraham, Demarcus Ware yet

Oh wow, somebody is actually bringing up Dunlap

When he’s on, he’s about as destructive as it gets defensively. When he’s off, he’s about as destructive as it gets… to his own team.

The scary thing is that unless he has some kind of superhuman bowl game/combine showing, he’ll probably be on the board when we pick. I still think he’s too risky though.

Eric Berry won’t be available when we pick, so my #1 is McClain. Dude prowls the field like one of Sigfried and Roy’s bengals.

I love how people are just saying ted ginn sucks…and all that crap..

seriously…where were you guys when he was the only one who could catch the ball his rookie season

where were you guys when he made some major plays last year
ex. bills, seahawks.
where were you guys when he was making catches against the colts (11?)
where were you guys when he beat one of the best young corners (d.revis) for a td

he’s still only in his 3rd season. He’s not Calvin Johnson, fitzgerald, or any of those guys. He’s not going to out jump two people to make a catch. He’s not that type of player.

He’s still raw and young. Just because he was drafted high and has to be the number 1 on a young recieving core doesnt make him a bust. He’s made plays to keep us in games.

So out of 39 games, you manage to find 4 that the 9th overall pick showed up in. That leaves 35 he was a no show. BUST

I seem to remember when Greg Camarillo turned a short completion into a 64-yard touchdown in overtime for our only win.

BTW, Carmarillo was a better WR than Ginn then, and he still is now.

At least in limited time, Greg produced. He had as many TDs in 8 rec than Ginn had w/ 34. Tenty % of the time Greg caught a ball he took it to the house. And he wasn’t even a top 10 pick.

Besides

Derek Hagan had 29 rec 373 yrds 2 TDs

Ginn – 39 games 5 TDs, 3 fumbles, countless drops, numerous “lay down and play dead” after catching the ball.
