Ted Ginn: Welcome to the doghouse
The PBP reports that Ted Ginn was "off to the side" with Patrick Turner and practice squad receivers as the 1st and 2nd team offense ran plays in practice.
Then, during one-on-one drills, Ginn beat practice squad safety Nate Ness but dropped the over-the-shoulder catch in the endzone. Yup.
Davone Bess and Brian Hartline worked with the first team, with Greg Camarillo with the second team.

as a true fan
i can understand everyone’s hate for this guy. but at the same time i kind of feel sorry for the him. i truly believe he is out working hard. he should have never been the 9th pick, he should have never even been a 1st round pick. he was a 2nd or 3rd round pick at best and was going to be a “project” from the start. and it hasnt panned out. i mean did anyone ever expect this guy to be a number one wide out? i know i never did,if he did it was just a bonus in my eyes. we’ll draft another WR next year and be fine….

I'm with ya
I kind of feel bad for Ted, too, but this is really the best thing for us. Ted didn’t ask to be picked ninth overall, and you could tell in his press conference the next day that he was as shocked as anyone about getting drafted that high. I hope Ted can salvage his career somewhere else, because I really like him as a person. He just isn’t going to fit in with this regime (which is something I think a lot of us could see early on).
All of that said, it’s one thing to drop passes; it’s another thing to turn passes into a back-breaking pick six. Ted’s had some good plays for us but he’s turned into a complete liability this season, which is something our new quarterback doesn’t need. Hopefully Henne is as mentally resilient as the Trifecta claims, because Ginn did him NO favors in the second half against New Orleans.

I just recently watched the Cam-Mueller draft pick announcement debacle
And it really angers me to look back and see a smug Cam Cameron explain to people why he drafted a KR/PR ninth overall. How we didn’t see 1-15 staring as us in the face at that moment, I have no idea, but that shitty regime really set us back.
I think we have one player still hanging around from the 2007 draft. Ugh.

It’s not like he feels good after boning catches. I expect us fans to spew blood, he should, too. But I’ll wager what his teammates are bringing, is worse.

… three years ago but why else would you draft him so high.

I agree. If your taken in the first round and given first round money you are most certianly
expected to be a number on wideout!!!!!!!

Just because I feel bad for him doesn't mean I want him on the field f*$%ing it up for us
But let me explain my earlier post:
I meant that he was drafted OUTRAGEOUSLY high and was expected to do something he didn’t even do at Ohio State — play as a go-to, #1 wideout. He played second fiddle to Santonio Holmes and Anthony Gonzalez as a Buckeye and never flashed any real ability as a route runner or as a receiver over the middle. He wasn’t a #1 then, so I don’t get why Cam-moron, Randy “fat ass” Mueller and others thought he could EVER be a go-to guy for us. I wonder at times if he even qualifies as a #2 receiver.
I certainly don’t feel bad for him in the business department. He makes a lot of money and has continued to disappoint us this year. I guess I am just bummed because I really had hope he could become a legitimate vertical threat for us. And I hate the fact our #1 picks in ’06 and ’07 have hemorrhaged on us.

I think he would’ve gone in the second round. I can’t imagine anyone actually taking him in the first round that year. Then again, the Chargers took Buster Davis, so anything is possible.

if he had a coach other than Jar Jarmeron his first year, maybe he wouldn’t have been so messed up. I think the wrong work ethic was instilled into him and he hasn’t fully bought into the new system.

Just as badly as you do, in fact. Drafting him over guys like Patrick Willis, Darrelle Revis, Dwayne Bowe and Brandon Merriweather has to be one of the worst decisions made by this franchise. In fact, I think it’s approaching Yatil territory. Ugh.

again the coaches need to take responsibility on Ginn’s progress. I know that its the NFL and a men sport, but obviously the guy has lost his confidence and is emotionally unstable. Ignoring him and putting him to the side WILL not solve anything.

at some point ted has to step up and do what he’s paid to do.
IMO we lost the NO game as a team, but he had several opportunities to pull us back into it, and instead he drops critical passes, and bumbles one into a pick-six?

Yes but cutting him will make him someone's elses "problem"
If this was the start of the season and he had no contract you realize he’s not even playing good enough to make the team, right? If he had no speed he wouldn’t even make the practice squad on any teams.
Personally I think we keep playing him and cut him at the end of the year. We use him as bait now to try and spread the field for us. Throw to him a little less but we keep him now. Pray for a trade but cut him at year end.

Well...
There’s not really any evidence of him being “emotionally unstable”. I’m sure he feels bad that he’s not performing well and I actually feel bad for him too, but it is what it is. He’s been bad and players that don’t play well get benched — some of them lose their jobs completely. It’s the way the business works.

I as well as others have said that we need to keep Ginn on the roster because he’s our only speed. Well, where is Anthony Armstrong these days? Or just sign Robinson off of the practice squad…. or bring in MARVIN HARRISON!
There are options and I would like to see SOMETHING being done about our current dilemma whether it’s signing a PS guy, bringing in a veteran, or even Ginn being forced to catch the ball in full contact situations in practice. SOMETHING.

In Ness’ first day he hung with Ted Ginn Jr. step for step on a deep route from Chad Henne and knocked out (it wasn’t dropped) a potential touchdown pass during that one-on-one session

Either he uses this as motivation and works even harder to get back into a prominent role, or he just John Beck’d he way out of Miami. It’s a shame too, because like Beck, I think a lack of confidence was his ultimate undoing.

It doesn’t take an offensive genius to figure out that Ted Ginn is a lost cause. After 2 1/2 years, his lack of progress and repeated disappointments may finally have whacked the coaching staff into reality. It’s time to play someone else at the WR position, regardless of whether or not we can throw the ball deep. I’m so happy, I’m going to go wear my glass slippers……not.

Everybody go and Wikipedia Ginn. Amazing stuff, two things that stood out for me were, that back in ’03 he was named national player of the year AS a Defensive one. Also, he has admitted that he has a learning disability. this definitely says a lot on why he has not adapted to the speed of the game so far.

A learning disability
does not prevent you from catching the ball a curling up into a fetal position any time you do manage to catch it. I played with guys with learning disabilities, and while they may not have grasped all the X’s and O’s, they still knew how to catch and take a hit. Also, I wouldnt trust Wikipedia on anything…it can litterally be made up stuff submitted by random people.
