Free Agency or Draft?
Every post nowadays are the same. "Draft a receiver in 2010 because Ginn is the worst player in the league" or "we need to pick up (state clearly superior and obviously unavailable wide receiver) right now"
and when people are not complaining about Ginn and the Wide Receivers people are complaining about Wilson or Crowder and their respective positions and how we must replace them in the Draft or in Free Agency. That is the real question. Draft or Free Agency? Here are some positions in need and whether I believe it should dealt with in the Draft or dealt with via Free Agency.
WR: Everyone and their dead dog knows that the Dolphins haven't had an actual receiver since Chris Chambers. The one thing we have going for us is we are young at this position. Our oldest WR is Greg and he is 27. I haven't lost faith in Pat Turner yet mostly because he has no one to play behind that can show him how a #1 Wide out plays. Which is why drafting players like Brandon Lafell, Damian Williams, Dez Bryant or Big Benn won't help us nearly as much as picking up a proven prototypical receiver who more or less models what we would want Turner to be one day. Looking at Free Agency next year Vincent Jackson jumps off the page. He would be a perfect mentor to Patrick.
SOLUTION TO THE WR PROBLEM: FREE AGENCY
DT: Jason Ferguson (Ferg) is the man. Unfortunately Ferg is the old man. He is a big reason for our success against the run this year and I would be and probably very sad to see him leave. Next year's draft is quite deep at DTs but they will all be gone in the 1st round. We would have to commit to a DT in the first round or not at all. I hope we don't waste a late draft pick on a DT who won't start next year. Terence Cody is the DT I want partially because there are no great free agents at DT next offseason. I could see a trade for Glenn Dorsey or I could see Soliai showing up in such a way that he receives starter status.
SOLUTION TO THE FUTURE OF OUR DTs: 1st Round of the Draft or Trade (free agency not really appealing)
ILB: People seem to complain about Channing Crowder a lot but the reason I have them listed as a need as nothing to do with him. Ayodele can most certainly be updated. Add another run stopper at ILB along with this already mean Run Defense and we will be bar none the best run defense in the league. This is what I am polling for the Dolphins to take in the 1st round of the draft. None other then the Florida Gator's BRANDON SPIKES. This man is a beast and next to Channing we will have firey hard-hitting and quite frankly scary linebackers.
SOLUTION TO ILB: 1st Round DRAFT pick
Safety: Last but not least our safety problem AKA Gibril Wilson. He is a bust with a capital B and could easily be replaced by the end of the season. Depending on how the Dolphins end up as far as record goes this year we could make a play for Taylor Mays or Eric Berry but if we do no get them we can certainly find some diamonds in the rough late in the draft so that is where i see the answer to this problem being answered. OR and i am just stirring the pot here but Sean Smith was the best safety on the board in last years draft. Next year he could rotate between while Vontae and Allen are starting. That would give us a Safety with great coverage skills instead of having to run stopping safetys (At least that was Gibril's title when he was considered decent).
SOLUTION TO SAFETY: Late in draft or Chris Clemons
These are just the most pressing needs the Dolphins have and these needs have become increasingly obvious through the season. We want a receiver for Henne to grow with, We want a DT that can clog the middle and be a future leader and we need a Safety because every Tight end who has played as this year has a career game. This post by no means I am overlooking this year. I still have a lot of faith in the current roster to win a lot of games and even if they were undefeated we would look ahead to how we can improve next year.
What do you guys think?

well said
especially the WR section, i think that and our safety issue are our most important offseason needs this year, and picking up vincent jackson would be SWEET, and we definitely need a safety that can actually play
The Sean Smith idea
is worth experimenting with, a way to get Vontae, Allen and Smith on the field together more often.
The Fish are no longer food
I agree with the FA chase for a WR, I still feel we can get Miles Austin over Vincent jackson due to the fact that now that Chris Chambers is out of the loop for San Diego they will focus on him. I agree witht eh DT recommendation. We either draft one in the 1st round or trade for one. Soliai has a good chance of replacing Fergy. As for LB I think if we trade for a good NT, then draft a ILB with our first pick. LB is a position that in the 3-4 scheme you need depth anyway. As for safety the idea of playing Smith at safety is intersting, but I like him at corner way better. What about toying with the idea of putting Vontae at safety? Or keep Clemmons as a starter. if not we can always draft a safety with the 3rd round pick.
There is no way that Austin gets out of Dallas. Word is that Jerry is now talking to his agent.
"I hope you know a lot more than you believe in"-Gram Parsons
No Way
Austin is the best player on that offense, and chargers love Jackson too much 2 let him go, they will def franschise him.
