First time blogger but I have been reading you great people since the start of the season.
Hello All. I'm happy to say that I'm one of the few Dolphins fans here living in the NE. New Jersey that is. Don't chastise me yet. I'm from a town in Florida known as Pensacola. (sidenote) I root for the jets whenever they play out of conf/ our division I have my reasons.
Anywho, it is extremely refreshing to know that there are die hard FIN FANS out there like myself. ( My girlfriend had me thinking there was something wrong with me) Screw her. The amount of intelligent semi-unbiased opinions of and about our team on this blog makes me proud. GLAD TO KNOW I AINTS ALONE.
I know we are playing the saints this week, but I have to go back to our FANTASTIC MONDAY NIGHT WIN OVER THE jets. Allow me to set the stage. I work in an office of 35 people. 34 are Jest fans. (Can you tell I have read some of your other posts wink.) I'm no closet fan I FLY MY COLORS. That whole week I heard nothing but how we could not win. What they would do to the wildcat , Henne is unproven , your DB's can't cover (little bit of truth in that since Edwards did run roughshod), blah blah. Come Monday day of the game, I wore my MIami winter coat. (78 degrees in NJ that day, so what) You can Imagine the looks and the heckling I received all day. WE WON, convincingly in my opinion. With a little wildcat F U sarcasm for the STAY PUFF MARSHMALLOW MAN to eat at the end there mind you.
Tuesday HE HE HE. I drove to work with my BIG AZZ MIAMI FLAG waving out my car for all to see. I figured if I was to get pulled over the cop would be a jets fan. Oh well Sugar honey ice tea happens. I walked in draped in our BELOVED TEAM COLORS. I didn't have to say a word, I mean what words are needed from me at that point?? No one said one word to me the entire day. I was not spoken too until the next day. Shunned you think? I prefer to think of it as the way jets fans SAY GOOD GAME. Silence is GOLDEN. Dolphins till I die and beyond.

you gotta root for JESTS cuz you live there is nonsense..I have been taking verbal lumps for being a Fin fan in Chicago for years..never to be converted to Da Bears……but even if I did lean towards the Bears, they are non-divisional, and only play the Fins once every 4? years…Fins anyways..with colors…

OK, LET ME CLARIFY MY STATEMENT
I root for the jest, jills and patty’s when they play out of conference and out of division. For the simple reason that we are all divisional brothers. The saints have beaten the bills and jets so far. If they should happen to best us. (not going to happen) and beat the patriots it would mean they have ran through our entire divison and that just is a lack of respect. Its like No one hits my little brother BUT ME. Very bad!
Its only acceptable to root for a divisional foe when it benifits us in some way by knocking some one off. Example, we are 12 and 3 going in to our last game and the Colts are 12 and 3 playing the Jets that are 8 and 7. Then I want the Jets to beat the Colts so we get HFA. Otherwise there is no exemption and it is simply a crime against the Phins nation.

wanting our division rivals to win in any capacity is wrong. unless we are rooting for the 3-8 bills to beat the 10-1 patriots to help us make the playoffs, i cant see any other scenario where i’d want them to win. they lose, we win, we go to playoffs. its a pretty simple formula.

LOL long story. One guy trying to stab another guy, I step
in, get stabbed, I try to choke the guy to death, he goes to jail after having his ass beat by the two giant security guards, I go to the Army Hospital (in a tent) and they sew it up. I was in New Orleans right after Katrina. Crazy, crazy place. Oh yeah we also had a sniper down the street from our hotel. The Army too care of that guy too!

Yeah, the funny thing or not so funny thing
was about 2 weeks later some dude pulled another knife on me and a couple of buddies over on Bourbon St. He wound up running away and dropping his knife. One of the guys I was with was this big old farm boy type from OK and he started yelling at the guy “go ahead stab me mother f**ker”. I think it freaked the guy out. It ended with him running away and my buddy chasing him screaming Im going to kill you. It was all pretty crazy but at the time after a few drinks it seemed hilarious. I think we had all become numb to that place after a while. Every day there was some sort of incident. If it were not for the Army and the National Guard I dont think any of us would have made out out of there alive. Those guys were there cracking some heads when someone would get out of line but they were still the most polite group of kids in the world. We stayed in the Marriot down in the French quarter and we had these guys with rifles surrounding our hotel for like the first 2 months I was there. You had to have a wrist band to get in the the hotel and all these nasty hookers would come up to us trying to buy our wrist bands for like $500. I guess once they could not get in to either of the only two hotels that were still in operations they were out of business.

its always been a really bad place. I have another friend that is a cop. Big bad ass guy and he got taken out and mugged by like 6 guys at once about 5 years before I was down there. That has got to be the most corrupt place in the county. Even the cops there murder people. I have a lot more really scary storys that I cant even tell on here.

Funny ass true Katrina story:
He took one of his Benz G55’s into the dealer for servicing just before Katrina hit. He left town in the other and drove it back to Palm Beach (another house there). When he was able to get back into Nola after Katrina, he found out that his G55 was the ONLY car in Nola that didn’t get flooded. It was up in the air on a service lift when Katrina hit! And still there when he got back to town! Not a drop of water touched it!

New Orleans was totally hardcore. We had our lives
threatened a few times. I am sure it is in no way like what you have been through but it did feel like a war zone at time. Once we left the hotel it was like being in a 3rd world country. I thank God for all the help we recieved from the millitary. They were our security, the citys police, our doctors and they would do my laundry once a week. Oh yeah, they also brought everyone a shit load of bottled water. I was overseeing several recovery sites around town. We had to bring in busses of people from Baton Rouge. Unfortunatly, while some of them were great, some of these guys were total crack heads. One morning we were there lining everone up and this guy just fell out. He had just literaly dropped dead of some sort of drug OD. We had a nurse with us at all times but she could not get him breathing again and it took like an hour to get an ambulance there. The guy literally looked like he was about 60 years old. His ID said he was 27. There was also some crazy asshole that was shooting at people from high up in a building down the street from our hotel. The Army just brought in one of there snipers and the problem was solved.
By the way I have no desire to ever go back to NO.
Oh yeah and when I was there I also got to ride out a second hurricane in the hotel. Good times!

I've never been to N.O. city limits...
But I’ve worked in South Ms and occasionally crossed the border for some work in Southern La, but there are some crazy people around there. Bay St. Louis STILL hasn’t been rebuilt. Of course, it was a dump before the hurricane. There are monuments to the hurricane scattered all over.

I was defending the previous guy who you told to shut up and accused a bunch of us as being hypocritical. I have no intentions of insulting anyone. I was mearly pointing out the fact that there has got to be a better way to address something that you disagree with than to act like a total ass towards another Phin fan. Sure maybe he misspoke. I am sure even if we are pulling for say the Jets is more that we are pulling for the other team to loose than “ROOTING” for the aweful Jets. I find nothing hypocritical about claiming that you never “ROOT” for the Jets. Perhaps in the future you can attempt to come off as less pious when addressing a fellow Phins fan! If so that would be great!

I just told everyone to chill, and said they were being hypocritcal if they said they never pulled for the jets.
I did not single out anyone or anything, just coming to a guy’s defense thats really being blasted by some peeps.

it is not, technically, defamation of character if the claim as to the character in question is, in fact, true.
to say that you are a die hard Fin fan and that you NEVER root for the jets is logically inconsistent, for that simple fact that it occasionally benefits the Dolphins for the Jets to win. As a fin fan, I have found myself in that situation more than once.
