Week 7 Power Rankings- The four classes
I believe Power Rankings are tough to do but i believe is alot easier to classify teams in 4 classes. No, I'm not talking Harry Potter guys, I'm talking about putting teams into the following...
- Elite- These guys got what it takes. Any one of these teams can beat ANYBODY and a Super Bowl is in grasp.
- Good- The good teams, can potentially knock off elite teams and should win the majority of their games. Losses don't come often, but these teams are missing either a few key positions or solid momentum from being a legitimate threat.
- Middle of the Pack- These teams can beat good teams but lose to bad teams. Consistency is the key and you never know what your going to get. These teams have to fight and pray for a wild card spot.
- Crap- These teams suck. Plain and simple. Playoffs won't happen so might as well start looking into next year's draft.
Rankings after the jump...
Elite-
Good-
Middle of the Pack-
Bad-
I will keep an eye on teams and move them (up or down) within a couple of weeks if they deserve to be moved.

This season you could really only have 3 classes
Bottom 8 plus Panthers and Bills to Garbage
Reduce Elite to Saints, Colts, Broncos, and Vikings
Then there’s The Rest

Texans should move up, as should the eagles
The eagle may have lost to the raiders, but they are still good enough to be in the “good” category. Chargers and Ningers should move down

giants
i would move the giants down not only because my saints whipped them so bad because we exposed their defense and layed out a game plan a good qb with recievers can use to beat them i expect kurt warner to use the same game plan that the saints used against them he is great at reading defenses and burning you if you blitz and with a player like fitzgerald and boldin i think they will have a big day
other then that good post
geaux saints

Anything with the Manning name has a good chance of being over-rated

haven’t really shown themselves to be elite this season.

True but sometimes you get ratings like that based in reputation.

Dude we are 3-2 how do we fall into the good section.

Thats 100% Homer-ism and Ive fallen into that trap too many times,
therefore I am withholding judgement until after the next 3 games.

Definition of Homerism:
Thinking your team is better than they really are. Which almost always leads to Massive disappointment (unless youre a Pats fan). SEE JETS 2008 and 2009. Im a believer of Realism and Cautious optimisum therefore I think we definitely have a chance to win most games, but I dont expect to win every game because I know we’re heading in the right direction. But when you arent expecting much it makes the win so much better. Up until our 1-15 season I was a bigtime homer so I find this way its easier to keep my sanity, plus Im sick of replacing TV’s : )
by Wade on Oct 22, 2009 11:23 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I'm actually a realist but I still can see the fact that this team has the ability to beat anyone
on any given Sunday. Thats not something that I belived the year we went 1-15. I am not so blided by my homerism that I think we are going to go to the Superbowl or anything like that. If we just make it in the playoffs I will consider that a more than successful season.

That's pretty much the way I look at it. The media, however, is pretty much anti-homer, and expects us to go 0-16 every year.

Yeah, but I dont care about the media. I actually love being the underdog.
I am also proud to be a homer. I live in the DFW area and I see all the so called “Cowboys Fans” jump on and off the bandwagon. When they are loosing you could almost forget that theres a team around here. When they are winning everyone is so ready to tell you how they have always been a huge fan through think and thin. I makes me sick.
