a true showing of unsportsmanlike conduct
Being a fan of a team that was humiliated in a playoff game (thanks Jaxsonville), I just thought that the Patriots showed everyone just how childlike and unsportsmanlike they truly are. I mean, I know the NFL doesn't have a mercy rule or anything like that but it really brought my opinion of Bellicheat lower (if that's at all possible). There is no good reason to need more than 6 scores against your opponent. Period. Tom Brady shouldn't have even played the second half of that game. It was disgusting to watch and I'm very greatful that the tv station here showed the end of the Jills/Jests game instead of keeping on the Patsies.

as much as i hate the patriots.....
i really don’t have a problem with the way they played Brady in that game….
If the Titans have a problem with it then they should focus on how to stop the pass instead of bitchin…
i mean i hate the pats as much as anyone
but it was 45-0 at Half. they could have run it up way way worse and easily scored 100.

Sorry, I have to strongly disagree NC..
The Titans are professionals and you can’t expec to pull back the reigns when your opponents flatout quits or are so unprepared. The NFL should get a slap for making total points a factor in tie breaking… These are professionals with jobs and you do all you can to protect your job without catering to others who are quitters or just unprepared. Imagine if you missed the playoffs for two years in a row b/c you missed out on total points, because you had a big heart and and in all your games with big leads, packed up the aggressive attack an allowed teams to creep back into the game. YOU WOULD BE FIRED….
Also, factor in that some of these players have contract incentives… If throwing 50+ TDs gets Brady an additional $1,000,000 then bombs away…
Sorry, this is not Pop Warner… and in fact, because each team has world class athletes…we’ve seen miracle comebacks before and NO lead, absolutely NOlead is safe until it’s mathmatically impossible to score X points in Y time.
I’ll even defend Jacksonville when the blasted us from the playoffs… We had how many turnovers??? We dared them to demolish us with terrible tackling and players who quit on us…
Besides, not all of the Patriots plays were intended to be big gains… on many of them, the Titans flat out sucked. I could understand if a team was up 45 and throwing 50 yard bombs on 1st and 10… Then again if there are 11 guys on the line,,you take what they give you ;)

However… in 2007 (sorry to bring out old…sad…moments) They put Cassel in for one play, which he threw an INT but at least they subbed out brady…
yeah weren't they still up by 5 td's at that point
I remember that game.. we had no chance whatsoever of beating the pats but bellicheat couldn’t let us make the game even look closer. that was the year where he got caught cheating so he decided to run up the scores on the bad teams. Luckily for us charma is a BITCH 18-1!

I disagree too,
This is the first time Brady has really got it going, specially with Moss who was completely lost out there for the last couple of weeks. He was really stepping into his throws without fear and he was just getting in sync.
Also, many people say that Bellichick was a jackass for going for it on every fourth down they faced. And actually that is true sportmanship, it’s a gentlemen “tradition”. It means that you are not cheap enough to kick a field goal that will do nothing but humiliate your opponent even more, however, you are not going to take a knee or punt either, you are going to make them earn it on the field. That happened on the Super Bowl where the Colts won. When they had the game won Dungy went for it on 4&4 something like that instead of kicking a field goal out of respect for Lovie Smith.
The reason the Patriots were still throwing the ball was to get some really valuable playing time for their backup qb, an undrafted qb from Michigan State.
So, whatever.
Sorry, but no Mercy.
I don’t believe in the mercy rule. I don’t believe in taking out starters. Ever. If they aren’t tough enough to survive all 60 minutes, then they should find another team. And lets face it, Pattys DID relent. Why do you think the score was only 59-0. New England easily could have been in the 90s. Plus Brady hasn’t been clicking. A game like this is the perfect time to let him groove, and try some new tricks while you are at it. Besides, I don’t think Brady even stayed in the full third quarter. Plus they got to see what their backups can do (admittedly not “too” much). NFL teams are all professional, with an equal opportunity draft. Titans needed to be exposed for the bad team that they are. Go Dolphins.

I disagree too
Why is it only in football that this topic comes up? Professional athletes, hell any athlete is taught from youth to play hard for the entirety of the game. As a coach you cannot change that mentality because you are blowing someone out all you can do is change the play calling. If the defense cannot stop the offense, then how is that the offenses fault?
In basketball when a team wins by 40 points does anyone accuse them of running up the score? NO. would you expect that team to just quit shooting the ball? take shot clock violations the rest of the game? NO and NO
In baseball when the final score is 22-3 does anyone accuse them of running up the score? Would you tell all your hitters to bunt the rest of the game? or just take one base on a double or triple? Stop at first if he hits one out? NO, NO, and NO.
Its a game and players play one way. The onus is on the Tennessee staff to have prepared better to face Belicheck(as much as I hate the team and the guy)
I WOULD COACH THE SAME EXACT WAY!!!!
well in basketball you do show mercy on your opponent by taking out your starters
Its called sportsmanship. Obviously Bellicheat doesn’t believe in it. Why do we go through the trouble of teaching our kids to respect your opponent when “role” models consistently disregard sportsmanship.
To me Bellicheat is an example of how not to act in a sports environment. Can you imagine him as the head of a little league team! Brutal

Brady came out of the game.
Sammy Morris went out of the game with an injury and Fred Taylor was inactive. Green-Ellis got most of the 2nd half carries over Maroney. Watson disappeared in the 2nd half. what more do you want, you want the towel boy to siut up and play safety next to the gatorade kid? Maybe have the cheerleaders play the 4th quarter?(Actually I’d watch that one myself!!!!) maybe the NFL should let the fans suit up and play. it wouldn’t have mattered, Because the Titans quit. Kind of reminiscent of the NE-AZ game last year where the media was all over AZ for not showing up. At least AZ was able to score one touchdown, TN couldn’t even muster a field goal.
I also disagree
I was all for the Pats furthering their run up of the score on the Titans and I made it very clear on their blog that day. I think we all knew that the game was won for the Pats after the 1st quarter so it didn’t matter how much they won by because they already won. Oh and I don’t care of the Titans so I loved to see that happen to them.
Don't question my fandominium.

wow, impressive passing stats
V. Young 0/2 0 yards
K. Collins 2/12 -7 yards
No wonder why the game was so close….
Yeah, it was quite the awesome display of QBing!

I disagree as well.
If it was 2007, I’d feel differently. But this year, with Brady coming off of an injury and the Pats not really looking like their offense was clicking this year, I have no problem with it. After all, didn’t they take Brady out after one series in the third quarter?
what do you want the Patiots to do
Literally stand there like the Titans were doing and let Tennesse score? I think a team flat out giving up is more of an insult.
