Although Ted Ginn did catch all of the passes that hit his hands, he is not going to get away from my skepticism that easily. He did make the two catches, including a beautifully thrown bomb for a TD after burning 3 DBs, but still, he has some monstrous mistakes to make up, and he has got to improve his game a little.
The Ted Ginn we all know is FAST, and thats why we got him. He did great on Monday night, and I applaud him for his performance, but he still has to work on a few things.
First: Catching the football. This one is obvious. If he can make some more catches, he can become a huge threat to take it all the way once he has it.
Second: He has got to man up a little. Many times he will try to avoid contact by falling or running OB, and thats unacceptable. He has to get that fear of getting hit out of his system already, he isn't a rookie anymore.
Third: This isn't as important, but it can help with the kick returns. He's got to work on his cuts.
Fourth: I saved the most important for last. Confidence. The guy has no confidence in himself. You can see it in his eyes. Every time he lines up for the next play, he looks anxious, and whenever he makes a mistake, same look. I didn't see that look on his face Monday night after that TD.
If he can set all this straight, we have a real, legit, and consistent, big play threat.
But he aint off the hook yet...
