Dolphins vs Jets: Prediction Time

It's that time again.  It's time to once again go around the internet and see who the "experts" are picking on Monday night.

Chris Mortensen - NYJ Adam Schefter - NYJ Tom Jackson - Mia
Mike Ditka - Mia Pete Prisco - Mia Harmon Forecast - NYJ
PFT - Mia Peter King - Mia Mike Golic - NYJ
Mark Schlereth - Mia Chris Carter - NYJ Clark Judge - NYJ

I'm a little surprised that so many people like the Dolphins' chances on Monday night.  I always get a little uneasy when the Dolphins - as an underdog - are a popular pick.

I won't post my prediction yet for this game because I'm yet to even post my "keys to victory" post - which will go up on Monday morning.  So I'll hold off until then before making my pick.  On the year, I am 2-2 picking the Dolphins games, having been correct in each of their last two.

I need a lot of work, though, with my "weekly locks."  I've gone 1-2 in each week now and need a solid 3-0 week to get back to .500.  My locks are below.

My Week 5 Locks
Colts -3.5 over Titans - When I said in my season prediction post that I didn't think the Titans would be as good in 2009, I had no idea they would struggle like this.  Vince Young time yet?
Panthers - 2.5 over Redskins - Washington is the worst 2-2 team I can recall.  The Panthers face a must-win situation if they want to get back into the hunt.
Patriots -3.5 over Broncos - If Denver can win  this game, I might just become a believer.  But for now, I'm still not buying it.

Last Week: 1-2
Season: 3-6

Im shocked that its split as well. I always get the feeling that the talking heads

never buy in to anything that the Dolphins are doing.

I sort of agree with you on Denver but I do think there defense is pretty good. Any team that can hold 4 teams to a combined 26 points reguarless of who they have played is pretty good. The offense still not so impressive. The Indy game seems like a no brainer. I think Carolina is bad but you may be right about Washington. How have they won any games?

Jets Pitch a Shutout

The Jet D will shut the Phins out. Theyve been demolishing great offenses all year. And theyve been rattling Pro Bowl veteran QBs. Henne will sleep with the fishes on Monday nite.

Your not shutting down Miami's running game.

There will be no shut out!

Shut out cont.

The Jet D blanked the Texan O in Houston; held Brady and the bunch to 9; and held the Saints O to 10 in N.O. There will be 8-9 in the box, Jenkins will be in ur backfield all nite, ur run game will be non-existent, Revis will lock down Ginn (just like he did to Andre Johnson, Moss, and Colston) and it will be tee-time on Henne as the Jets put him in 3rd and long ALL nite and take turns trying to knock his helmet off. Chad Henne sleeps with the fishes.

Are you sure your a Jets fan?

You seem to be able to spell and write an entire paragraph with out cursing
anyone out. You are totally wrong and off base here but I have to give you props for not acting like a total animal.

Perhaps you could hold classes for the rest of the jets fan base on how to act like human beings!

As far as locking down Ginn you might need to do your homework as most if all of us are united in the belief that Ginn is not our best reciver. I hope thats what you do with your best defender in the secondary. Lock down away because I do not believe that most if any of us are counting on Ginn to be a major factor.

Phins have no receivers

I say Ginn by default. Truth is theres nobody to lock down. At least Ginn poses the biggest threat of making a big play. I say remove the threat and pummel everyone else.

There will be a crowded box and hits galore on Henne. Im pretty confident the Jet D will pitch a shutout. My only worry, obviously, is Sanchez scoring points for the wrong team. But I think the addition of Edwards creates space for everybody else, even the run game, and the Jet offense makes plays and sustains drives.

I think the Jets will play and win the field position game with their defense and superior special teams. And Neon Leon is due to crack off a big play TD. Keep an eye out for Shonn Greene, he’s explosive and will get carries.

I want to be a part of it....

Is the only tune i’ll be singing come Monday morning. As my Yanks get ready to play in the ALCS and my Jets are fresh off of stomping in the Phins. Can’t wait to watch Keller go off on ur squad just like every other TE has against the Phins this year.

Hey Tex, why don’t u try to put some thought and analysis into ur posts and refrain from the ad hominem. You’ve become what claim to despise.

Ur squad is garbage. Keep Pat White warmed up, Henne won’t last long.

LOL your friends over there at Gang Green did there part to earn that

moniker. I also see your point and I should not lower myself to the shamful level that the Jets fans have exibited. I feel sorry for anyone or any group of people that have to act like that.

Our squad is garbage? You know better than that. Are we where we want to be? No, but we are building something here that will win for years and not selling our souls to win now be damned the future. I will admit that your coach (who like his father is the biggest asshole coach in the league) has inspired his team with his total lack of respect style. I guess in this reguard he is the perfect coach for NY. I would be mortified if our coach acted like that. What a sad example for not only the kids on his team but the kids in your community. Unfortunaly that style grows old after a while. You might get one or two decent flash in the pan seasons out of it but in the end it never works. If you are proud of your fans, coach and what this team will represent under him then good for you. Good luck with that and all your dissrespectful friends over there at gang green!

Just a punk...

See Tex, i challenge you to make an intelligent argument as to how and why ur team will win and all u can do is make personal attacks. And I happen to like my team’s coach, he’s refreshingly honest and tells it like it is. Unlike ur diareah mouth LBs that talk so much manure yet have such measely stats. I happen to like ur coach too. Parcels knows what he’s doing and i was sad to see him leave the Jets (we all know whose really calling the plays down there). As to the kids, lets leave the child rearing to the parents. I want my team to be entertaining, by that i mean i want them to win. Whatever else anybody associated with the team does i could care less about. But i guess when ur team is 1-3 and stinks to high heaven u gotta make it seem like winning is not all that important. Too bad we couldnt talk football punk. Then again i guess u don’t have much to say on that subject with ur chump team.

We will win because your offense sucks and can not score when

not handed the ball on the other teams side of the field. That combined with the fact that our running game will control the time of possession. The jets rush D is ranked 13th going up against the #1 rushing offense with 2 of the 3 top rushers this year. I am also certian that karma will catch up with Rex so it all basically spells doom for the Jets tonight.

As far as kids go I never said anything abou the rearing of childern.

I am talking about the kind of example that is shown from a person that childern will look up to. If you think this is not important then fine but I personally am dishartened when I see someone like that, who people unfortunatly look up to, act in a manner that would embarrass most. If you think that he sets a good example than good for you.

I like the fact that you called me out for an attack on your coach

with a personal attack on me. If it makes you feel like a better person to attack me then I am fine with that. I realize that this is the MO of the Jets fan. You go right ahead because I will not lower myself to that level and attack you back.

Bess is actually leading the team

Just because Ginn makes a big play every so often, doesn’t mean that he is better than the rest of our receivers. Camarillo and Bess have been much more effective than Ginn. I pray the Jets staff listens to you. Dolphins will use the same strategy they used against the Colts. Unfortunately for you, the Jets aren’t a quick strike team. Not saying the Dolphins will win, but your score is incredibly unrealistic. Look for a very tight game, and look for Sanchez to be hurried, hit, sacked, etc… ALOT.

Please use the Colts game plan.

If u think that the Colt D is remotely near te level of the Jet D then u guys are in for a long long nite. The will be 9 Jets in the box all nite, all of which will be threatening to blitz. Jenkins will be moving into ur backfield on every snap (watch him, he’s a stud). We have the best pair of inside backers in the league both of whom are intelligent, violent, and make plays. And we have the best cover corner in all of football. If u think any respect will be given to ut passing game ur crazy. Ryan will be blitizng the run all day on the early downs.

Unfortunately for ur team our rookie QB makes plays when it counts. He might gaffe once or twice but our D will take the ball back in three plays or less. And our special teams scores points. Jets are gonna smack the Phins. U guys will be 1-4 and by midnight.

this game is gonna be very much about the turnover margin

we know that sanchez looks good in flashes, but he has disappeared for entire quarters in games this season. if we can take the ball away from the once, maybe twice, we will win this game. Also our D cannot give up the big play when snachez decides he wants to get his head in the game. I think the difference maker this monday will be: C Wake.

We are ranked #1 in the Laeague for Rushing &
  1. in the league for stoping the run…time of possesion is in our favor…with these stats we will win games!
Our offensive line is gelling & will only get better as the season goes on….must increase pass protection…+ these stats are a recipe for our young QB to be sucessful!

3-6 on your locks? Those are supposed to be games that you know without a doubt. But Matty seems to like picking toss up games, like Panthers over the Redskins. Even the Pats over the Broncos is a toss up. I would have went with the Giants, Vikings, and Steelers. Sure the spreads are high, but the teams they’re playing are atrocious.

My 5 Predictions

I’m not going to bother predicting the final score of the game. I’m not even going to predict whose going to win the game. Instead, I’m going to predict 5 things that WILL happen during the Monday Night Football game between the Jets and Dolphins:

1- Ted Ginn WILL have a big catch.

2- Cameron Wake, Jason Taylor, Joey Porter, and Kendall Langford WILL combine for atleast 6 sacks AND 1 forced fumble.

3- Sean Smith WILL have his first career interception.

4- Ronnie Brown WILL run the Wildcat and throw a pass for a big play.

5- Chad Henne and Brian Hartline WILL connect for another TD pass.

by JP 23 on Oct 10, 2009 12:07 PM EDT via mobile reply actions   0 recs

by Fr8Train on Oct 10, 2009 4:24 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ya, Ginn may not be worth the 9th overall pick he was but that doesn't make him worthless.

Ginn is a 2nd or 3rd reciever on almost every team in the league. I’m not saying Hartline can’t be the same, but he just isn’t yet. It’s too early to say.

by JP 23 on Oct 10, 2009 4:50 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions   0 recs

He does take more heat than he should at time based on where he was drafted.

There is something to claiming that its not his fault where he was drafted but I sure bet he and his agent went in to negotiations demanding first round money!

Bottom line is you can not afford to pay for first round talent very long if hes going to be a 3rd option. That money has got to be reserved for a guy that can be your number one.

It may be in his and the Phins best interest for him to be traded to another team. If not and the Phins want to keep him they should ask him to renegotiate his contract to reflect his production or lack there of.

Have Jets Will Vomit

Hey homeskillets, its been way too long, not too long to know that I still know how bad the Jets still make me hurl and get ultra sick of all their hype. Can you say “pound the rock”? Well, I can, and I think the rest of the Dolphin O line and running crew can do the same. The D will have to get into the “dirty Sanchez” and make him feel like a mommas boy fresh out of nipples and hugs. We can win this game Missin’ you guys tons, hopefully be back full time soon, till then………….Kill Jets Win Games, Dolphins Rule!.

Only your defense can win this game

I don’t think the fins running game has a prayer. The Jets front seven has been gelling and I don’t think Ricky and Ronnie the real life Bad Boys are gonna be the ones to break it. You’d have a better chance trying the Jets injury prone secondary, missing it’s no.2 CB and nickelback, with Chad 2: The sequel’s arm. Or you could always try the Tamecat.

Only the Dolphins talented defensive squad can pull this out in my humble and frequently wrong opinion, and they could use a little help from Marky Mark Sanchez. The saints offense would have put up absolutely zero without him. You need to root for the Dirty Sanchez to be your MVP this week.

Good luck, in an insincere way.

I find it quite humorous that all the Jest fans believe that they

just shut down our running game at will. Yes you have had some good games but its not like the Jets have become the Ravens just because you picked up there dedfense cord. The Ravens are the top rush defense. The Jets are only at 13. You are playing the #1 rushing offense.

Pound the Rock

To all the Ted Ginn haters out there, tomorrow night’s game should be give you all the ammunition you need to run the guy out of town. With Revis covering him, there will be no catches (or even throws) beyond 10 yards. Of course, Pats fans and Texans fans probably want to get rid of Moss and Johnson too……

by crossborderFISHingtrip on Oct 11, 2009 9:04 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I say the trifecta will give Teddy til about week 6-7 before the make a definitive decision on him, wheter to trade or bench him for the season. We have a bunch of young guys on the corps of receivers. And all of them are hungry and willing to get physical.

I think your correct.

I keep thinking with all the young and new guys on the roster that Ginn would feel the pressure to play better thus forcing him to step up. If he continues to struggle and others are showing that they can and will step up it becomes a no brainer. Ginn’s time is limited if he does not start finding a way to contribute real soon.

The experts are major haters when it comes to the Dolphins. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many pluses from the experts though. Go phins

Silly jets Fans

I’ve been reading through the GGN website, and these idiots actually think that the key to their victory is to run the ball, and that its going to be a 100+ game for them. Are yoou kidding yourselves? Miami has ‘the’ number one rush defense in the league… not to mention the best running offense. if you really think that running will bring the Jets over th phins, you are dumb. Straight dumb.

LETS GO PHINS!

Louie from the Bronx here… sick of hearing all these crazy jets fans. Yeah the Jets D looks good, but look at who the Dolphins have faced this year. We have had our trouble against explosive O’s let me just remind you all again the Jets O is AWFUL! I have to watch these suckers every sunday because thats what CBS shows. Our Phins are well coached, and always have an excellent game plan. It wont be different this time. This is going to show how much metal our team is made up of. We can out last these guys with smart game management and taking what is given. Also tonight the Dolphins D will look better then the Jets D. Remember the Jets O is AWFUL! IM TELLING YOU! JUST PLAY SMART FOOTBALL AND DOLPHINS WIN! PHINS 27 JETS 17

5 Predictions.

1. The Jets will not rush for more than 115 yards
2. Sanchez won’t have more than 1 turnover
3. Braylon Edwards has a touchdown
4. Henne gets sacked 4 times along with two turnover
5. The Jets win 20-6.

No offense we’re just too talented defensively.
