Tony Sparano finishes 2nd in "Coach of the Year" voting
The Associated Press just announced that Falcons head coach Mike Smith has won the AP's Coach of the Year award. Tony Sparano came in 2nd in the voting.
The voting was as close as it gets, with Smith picking up 23.5 votes and Sparano getting 22.5 votes. My question is who the other 4 votes went to. How could anyone not vote for either Smith or Sparano? Those people should be stripped of their voting rights.
Either way, this just adds to the disrespect of the Dolphins by the media this year. I guess leading the biggest single-season turnaround in NFL history doesn't count for much. But I'm sure Tony will take a playoff win over this award anyways.
GO DOLPHINS!!!

W/E
we had a bigger turnaround than them. He is a Dolphin, and the Dolphins haven’t gotten any respect all year. Why should this award be any different? But I assure you Tony doesn’t care about this award.

just saw that
that’s garbage….those 4 voters who didn’t vote for Sparano or Smith should lose their voting rights.

I guess turning a 1-15 team into a playoff team is not enough.
PLAYOFFS?!

Blame Parcells
I guarantee you that if Bill Parcells were not a member of the organization Sparano would have won coach of the year.
He’s so adored by the media and such a big name, that he casts an unfair shadow over the job that everyone else has done. Speaking as an outsider, I can tell you that the people I know and talk to credit Parcells first and foremost for everything that has happened with the Dolphins.
I absolutely believe that to be wrong and unfair. To me, there’s no doubt that Sparano is coach of the year and he doesn’t get enough credit for the turnaround… but I don’t believe the media at large sees it that way. They see Bill Parcells sitting in a booth and figure that everything is his doing.

all good points
it’s good to hear an outside POV on our situation, and hopefully Parcells wins the Exec of the Year.
