I'm sure many of you will be spending your Saturday watching some playoff football.  So I offer up this game thread for you all if any of you are hanging around the computer watching the games.

This weekend should provide 4 interesting and hopefully entertaining playoff games to watch.  Quickly, my thoughts on today's 2 games.

 

VS

I'm sure there are going to be many here who are pulling for the Titans to just destroy the Ravens and their dumb-ass offensive coordinator.  And you can count me into this group.  However, I don't think it's as clear cut as a #1 vs #6 game usually would be.  The Ravens can do things defensively that no team can really imitate - making it tough to prepare.  I think the Ravens will be able to shut down Tennessee's rushing attack, forcing Kerry Collins to win the game with his arm.  Does that old arm have enough left in it for some post-season magic?


VS

When you think about it, the game scheduled as the Saturday night primetime game is probably the least attractive game of the 4 this weekend.  But that doesn't mean the game doesn't have a chance to be a good one.  When these two teams met back in week 8, also in Carolina, the Panthers used 21 3rd quarter points - behind 2 Steve Smith touchdowns - to knock off Arizona 27-23.  If tonight's game is as good as that one, then we're in for a real treat.  I'd look for a healthy dose of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart from the Panthers.  If Arizona can't contain those two, Carolina will win this game.

but heres the thing..

desperate teams like the vikings will probably be willing to give that 3rd-4th (double) or even a 2nd for pennington

leadership or not . football wise that 2nd round pick is more valuable to the team because of the talent

and yes i think jake long has already stepped up

wr are now older and they already had that pennington teachng

and seeing how beck and henne had that year with pennington, I do not see how they dont try to replicate the things cp did off-the-field

lol I think we're just rehashing the same argument over and over

in different ways. You feel like the draft pick is more valuable. I feel like Pennington is more valuable. If we can get a first day pick, I think you’re argument has legs.. but I don’t think we can get that much for a 33 year old QB with arm issues. Minny wants a vertical passing game, so I doubt they really want to give that much for a guy that doesn’t fit what they want to do..

but what they do what is a stable qb. and thinking we wont get a "mvp" candidate a first day draft pick is negliable

It's not the "MVP" that teams will look at though..

it’s how he fits what they want to do. He doesn’t fit Minny at all. And, MVP consideration or not, he’s still viewed by much of the league as an aging, injury prone QB. The noodle-arm stigma is still there, and it wasn’t helped by the floaty picks in the playoff game.

If I’m a GM, I’m not trading a first day for Pennington. Probably not giving up a 3rd rounder either. The same reason you’re looking to get rid of him for will work against him in a trade.

i kno what you mean but i just cant stop thinkin how much more explosive our team will be next year or maybe 2 when we have our qb settled for years to come.

and again that leadership thing will not have that drastic of an effect as it did last year.

yes it did amazing things but now that our people are more experienced it is time that we develop that franchise qb

IMO

this year is probably the best time to do it, but I don’t think it benefits us more to trade him than it does to keep him. I don’t like to underestimate the effect of a cool, veteran locker room presence.

Of course I want one of the young guys

but I want Pennington around the team every day. I think we’ll be just fine with the picks we have, without having to dump Pennington. I’m more for trading Porter because I think he’s easier to replace, plus we still have guys on the defensive side that are leaders.

interesting..

he doesn’t say much, just addresses certain needs and talking about which guys should be there to pick. I think people are making too much of the apparent connection between Groh and Parcells, saying that Parcells will draft a VA player because he’s friends with Groh.

Saying that, I wouldn’t be shocked at all to see us trade out. If not, then I’d love for Cushing or Sintim to be holding up a Dolphins #1 in April.

Realistically

when i have a single malt, I have it “neat” but you want just a little water, or a little ice cube in it, it helps take the alcohol vapors away so you can smell it better, otherwise the alchohol can “seal” you sense of smell in a way. Smell is part of taste, so you wanna taste it.
