Have we signed an extension with Pennington?
I was wondering if we signed an extension with Chad? If so, how long was the extension? This might be somewhat of a dumb question to those who know the answer but I was just asking. Ugh. I hate the 75 long word long post rule.

I feel so special
I have a rule named after me lol.
Phinsguy, this is the type of question you can ask in any other thread as a comment. The reason the 75 word barrier is up is because we don’t the fanpost section getting crowded with 2 sentence posts while good posts get passed up because its so busy around here. If you’re not reaching 75 with your post, it’s probably better off just being a comment or a question in another post. Just a heads-up for you buddy.
Pennington is under contract for another season, and I’m sure the FO and Coaching Staff will review everything and decide whether to extend it or not, and if so, for how long and how much.

I like what Pennington did this season
BUT he has been injury prone throughout his career. In addition there are plenty of times things just click for a season and a QB will have a great year. See Derek Anderson in Cleveland last year.
Lets not forget, though Pennington has done a terrific job for the Fins this year, our future is another Chad. Chad Henne, who has very much impressed me from what I’ve see of him. Young QBs, as in Ryan and Flacco has shown they can come in and be very successful. Henne has the same cool demeanor, control presence as Pennington but with a stronger arm.
Enjoy the moment, but don’t get so caught up that you forget about the future. Remember this is a great ride, but we are still in rebuilding mode.

I'm not forgetting about Henne
All I said was they will review everything and decide whether or not to extend his deal. I’m actually anxious to see Henne because, like you said, he has Pennington’s demeanor along with a cannon attached to his shoulder. I do hope that he is soaking up everything from Chad the Elder about decision making and taking what the D gives you. From everything I’ve seen, he’s accurate as hell too. I think we have a future stud on our hands, and the more he learns from Pennington, the better.
I think they will sign CP to an extension, but more than likely in a veteran backup/mentor role past next season. I think Henne will take the job by his third season.

Believe, he doesn´t have the same presence as Pennington, don´t insult my intelligence.

I think what he's saying is
that he doesn’t think Henne has the same cool demeanor and presence in the huddle that Pennington has, and he’s insulted that you said it. I agree with you though. I watched him at Michigan, and he was the unquestioned leader in a huddle full of seniors and future NFL players. He came in here, and he was in complete control in the huddle in the preseason, playing with the first teamers. The guy is cool and calm. He may not be as cerebral as Pennington, but he has the same attitude and demands the respect of his peers without having to say a word.

Totally agree Nicky
The Jets got rid of Pennington for a reason. Remember he got a come back player of the year with the Jets. Don’t get me wrong, I think Pennington is a fine QB. I love the job he did, but I’m all for the future.
Some peeps think that Henne was the best QB prospect coming out last year, ahead of the likes of Ryan and Flacco. Now he has been able to sit a year. I have no problems whatsoever if the Dolphins start floundering next year to throw Henne in without any hesitation.
Please correct me if I’m wrong but, I think the Cincinnati Bengals had a similar delemma a few years ago. Remember when they first got Marvin Lewis.
They drafted Carson Palmer, but Jon Kitna was thier QB. If I’m remembering correctly Kitna won the comeback player of the year when he started Carson’s entire rookie season. But the year after they gave the reigns to Palmer. Look how that turned out.
I’m not saying Henne is Palmer, nor the Dolphins should/would do that here. Lets just not lock up alot of money in 1 player just because he had one good year.

I think the coaches will handle this like they handle everything else
no politics, no coddling. Win the job. If Henne can take the job from Pennington, it’s his, no questions asked, no waffling, no bullshit. If Pennington earns the job again, it’s his till he loses it. That’s what I like about these coaches. They don’t see histories, or names, or contracts, they just see performance and results. And that’s all that matters.
I do think that Pennington will win the job again next year, and I think he’ll play well. I have no problem with Henne sitting another season, but if, like you said, we start having a down year, you’ll see Henne. But that’s too far into the future to figure out now. We have no idea who will even be here next season, with FA’s, the draft, and more roster turnover. I have to believe they start building this team around Henne’s strengths, anticipating the future.

tryin to help you out Phinsguy
If Pennington would have signed to an extention, it would have been BIG news. Almost every major sports channel and newspaper websites would have had a story on this. Plus, it would have been posted here. What sites other than the Phinsider do you read? I have a few good ones if you are interested. Feel free to ask.
