Brady out for year with torn ACL

Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports reports that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady  is expected to miss the rest of the 2008 season with a severe knee injury.

The injury is widely believed to be a torn ACL.  Silver says that there could be other ligament and cartilage damage.

“It’s bad,” a team source told Silver.  “We’re going to have to play without him.”

The starter will be Matt Cassel.  Unless the Pats bring back Vinny Testaverde.  Or Doug Flutie.  Or Steve Grogan.

UPDATE:  Silver’s report has been updated — the ACL tear is confirmed

I hate the Pats...

and am no fan of Brady’s… but I refuse to take pleasure or revel in a major injury to anyone.

agreed agreed

I really don’t know why we as Dolphin fans are even concerned. If we were a legitimate power in the NFL, even in the AFC East, it might affect us. But we’re not. If you’re not facing the best players, on the best teams, it doesn’t make you any better. It may get you a cheap win here or there. But it won’t make you better as a team.

It has not been confirmed.

There haven’t been x-rays yet. It’s just likely.

another report

WEEI’s Ron Borges is reporting that Brady suffered a torn ACL Sunday, the Boston Herald reports.

Speculation speculation speculation.

Just because multiple sources speculate, it doesn’t make it legitimate.

Think about it like this:

Did Ronnie Brown get up and walk off the field himself with a torn ACL?

wait till confirmation

let’s wait for confirmation with the MRI tomorrow before we take this report as serious

actually

i think he did walk off on his own power!! if i remeber correctly… my friend in high school tore his acl in a high school game and got it taped and came back in… he said it hurt like shit but you can still walk on it

Rejoice not when your enemy falls...

but this certainly makes the AFC East one of the most interesting divisions in football.

I hear you

I will almost feel like we really didn’t beat the Patriots when we beat them. I am a rare non Patriot hater. I actually rooted for them to beat the Giants (this may be due to a rivalry in the family w/ cousins and all)
I don’t like to see people that a good fall. Like I really didn’t care when Trent Green went down, but when Tom Brady gets injured for the season I get a little sad.

I heard this on ESPNEWS as a joke, Matt Cassel can be the next Tom Brady. Brady took over for Bledsoe when he got injured. Now Cassel has to take over for Brady.

I guess I should have thought twice before creating my profile's name.

He played the Chiefs

The Chiefs suck. Even we blanked them in preseason.

However...

However, I highly doubt Cassel gets any practice (usually). If Brady wasn’t injured in the Preseason they may have lost that game today. Cassel may get better since he’ll practice with the first team. With all the weapons he’ll have I’m sure the Pats will still make it to the playoffs.

I guess I should have thought twice before creating my profile's name.

I literally have,

I picked up Cassel off the waiver in my fantasy league. I won’t start him vs. Miami though, I don’t like conflicts of interests.

Anyone feel

That now the AFC east is COMPLETLY up for grabs.
Also Remember Culpepper anyone? Look where he is now

by Rytackle on Sep 7, 2008 10:16 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Where is he?

I don’t know if your saying if he is coming back to the Pats for sure or something…
It would be cool for Culpepper to team with Moss again. I have always liked Culpepper. I would love to see him play football even with the Pats.

I guess I should have thought twice before creating my profile's name.

and his message to the NFL make him a hypocrit ...lol

go read up at proFtalk about the culpepper saga…the funniest thing is that he emails all these letters like he thinks people give a sh** about what’s up with him lol

No I ment

That Culpepper destroyed his knee with the Vikings and never cot his Career back on track, now Im not saying that that will happen to Brady but it is deffinetly a possibility.

It would be funny if. . .

The Pat’s replacement QB plays well and if Bellicheater tosses Brady aside like they did Bledsoe.
