Bruce Springsteen to play Super Bowl Halftime Show
Bruce & the E Street Band will provide the entertainment during halftime of the Super Bowl. This means that there's a good chance the halftime show will indeed be better than the game itself.
Oh...and the NFL finally got it right. This is guaranteed to be the best halftime show in recent memory.

Don’t be so sure, they could play new songs.

Exactly
Still i don’t know about you, but when I think football and classic american songs etc, i think springsteen. Perfect call for the halftime show. Only thing I’d prefer is if they’d get rid of the damn thing completely.
Anyone else agree that the conference championships are usually much better and feel like pure football rather than some broadway show?
Football isn't a matter of life and death - it's far more important than that.

first of alll...
I was kiddin because I know Matty is a huge fan. I was just trying to bust his balls a little.
However…. I will say, really, seeing Springsteen playing the half-time show for Corporate America’s biggest stage where they schill their crap to the masses is a bit disappointing. Because something like the PEPSI Super Bowl Half Time Extravaganza brought to you by McDONALDS! seems a tad beneath the man.
Just my opinion.

I can understand that
We’ve been hearing these rumors for years; that the NFL has been trying to get Bruce. And I’ve gone back and forth on if it’s a good idea. At times, I, too, think it’s actually beneath him.
but I’ll trust Bruce’s judgment here.

Seriously??
Why in the hell is bruce springsteen playing the halftime show? Just because Janets breast popped out doesn’t me you can’t get someone under 60 to preform at the biggest sporting event in the world. The NFL needs to loosen up and get a new fresh act or at least someone not eligalbe for S.S. In the last 15 yrs there have only been a couple of performs more then a couple years away from being a senior citizen. I think there should be some sort of voting system put in place. See who the people want to listen to at halftime. We are watching the best sport in the world with a bunch of 20somethings running around and then we have halftime where the act is old enough to be the players grandfather, listening to him sing he was born in the USA…probably back in 1937. Spice it up a little Goodell.

You do realize...
….that Bruce’s most recent tour was the highest grossing tour in the world, right?
Doesn’t that tell you something?

oh...and the day that ANY of today's musicians...
…come close to the song-writing skill that Bruce has will indeed be the day that hell does freeze over.

Jimi's dead, Lennon's dead
Clapton and Springsteen are among the only decent musicians left on the planet. Who else would play the halftime show? Red Jumpsuit Apparatus? Fall Out Boy? There aren’t very many good mainstream musicians around anymore.
If Wu Tang did the super bowl i’d be there in a heart beat.

Why the negativity Matty(I)
? Why can’t we just have a good game to watch? I plan on not watching this crap halftime show. I have no idea who this Springsteen is. Just watched two youtube videos. Yeah he is crap. Probably washed up by now as well.
I guess I should have thought twice before creating my profile's name.

Don't really care
Halftime is time to go to the bathroom, get food and drink and prepare to settle in and enjoy the second half. The day that I think the halftime show was better than the game, no matter how lopsided, is a day I should probably quit watching football.

Correction
Halftime is when you flip over to Pay-Per-View for Lingerie Bowl 2008.

That link is definitely PG-13 and maybe even NSFW, by the way.

I'm not old
But have you honestly given his music a fair chance? That’s always the question I ask people who get on my case for liking Bruce.
Have you really heard his music? And I’m not talking about the Born in the USA album. I’m talking about Born to Run – one of the greatest rock albums ever released. I’m talking about Darkness on the Edge of Town. There are some epic songs there – especially the ones that weren’t “radio hits.”

Look, everybody in America watches the Super Bowl. All those millions of people whose interest in football is cursory at best tune in for this game because it’s practically a national holiday. Bruce Springsteen is, like him or not, an American icon who appeals across a wide fan base. That’s why he’s there. The NFL is very reactionary and conservative so post “Nipplegate” this is what you’ll get from them.

The Halftime show
has never appealed to me and usually by halftime I’m out of food and/or beer. That’s when you fly to the store to grab another case and some chips and dip, and order another 100 wings so they get delivered before the 3rd quarter starts, so they could put Pavarotti in the halftime show for all I care. And if you are gonna watch something at halftime, why not the lingerie bowl? Are we not men? How can we not enjoy our three favorite things on the same day (beer, babes in lingerie, and football)?
Non-story. Rather they just show a half hour worth of commercials, probably be more entertaining.
