Happy Birthday Dan Marino

Stay connected for news and updates

And GOD I miss you.  Not only were you a great qb for my favorite team, but you were my favorite NFL player of all time.  I cut my teeth on the Dolphins in the 70's and loved them.  But, when you came on board, my love turned to fanatic.  You just made football so fun.  Your "Fire and Desire" were just what I always thought a NFL QB should be.  A true leader.  Thanks for all the wonderful memories that you provided.  It was an honor to meet you, tell you "thanks" for what you do off the field as well as on, shake your hand and have a laugh.  You probably aged me beyond my years with some of those last second wins...but I'll take it.  Have a great birthday and know, that you will always be a champion in my book.  Thank you Thank you Thank you.  Have a great birthday and God Bless.

To all my Dolphin fan family, take a second and think about "that" game.....you're favorite Dan Marino moment.  Thats the stories I want to hear.

For me, the '94 opening day game vs. the Patriots  without a doubt.  And, another good one, because it was on my birthday, (what a gift!) that awesome fake spike against the Jets.  And in true form, the first thing #13 did  was to go to Kosar, who drew that play up, and say  "Nice play!", not taking the glory for himself, always putting others above. Class

In Honor of Mr. Marino's birthday I've changed my icon.  Its a SI cover picture from a game that I was at on my honeymoon in '94.  It ranks as one of the greatest football games in my life.  I've included a link from that game if you want to look back.  Just look at how the scoring went....lol.....it was crazy fun. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/199409040mia.htm  This game was Marino's first game back after his season ending injury the year before.  The critics were saying he should retire and give it up.  Even the media in Miami was all over him.  But, like Marino always did, he rose above it, and fought like a champ, look at his numbers!  Everything was great that day, and having Irving Fryar (NU) catch the go ahead score was just to good to believe.  I'd love to sit back, have a beer and tell stories with the lot of you.  I probably don't have as many, but the ones I do have are "Fintastic".....

Happy Birthday Dan Marino
