Boldin wants to be a Dolphin
According to Palm Beach Post writer Ben Volin, one of Arizona's dynamic WR duo would prefer to be on the opposite sideline come Sunday. Veteran WR Anquan Boldin, 2003 2nd round pick out of Florida State and Offensive Rookie of the Year, would like to play for the Dolphins. Drew Rosenhaus, Boldin's agent, has appeared on local radio saying Boldin wants to be a Dolphin.
“Clearly we have been pushing the team for a trade. … He’d look nice in a Dolphin uniform, huh?”
“We mentioned this last week, but there’s a guy that (the Dolphins are) playing against that wouldn’t mind being in a Dolphins uniform in Anquan Boldin. … It’s a shame that he’ll be wearing a Cardinals uniform against the Dolphins, than the other way around.”
So what say you, fellow Miami fans? Is going after Boldin, at the expense of draft picks, worth it? Arizona has flat out denied trading Boldin before so perhaps this is a moot question anyways. But it is always fun to chat it up.

trade for him now
yes. totall worth it. he’s young. he’s proven. what’s not to like? yes, i like 1st round draft picks, but they can miss. look at our past 10 yrs of 1st rounders. the key is, he is still so young. plus, if he wants to be in Miami, all the bonus. he knows we are rebuilding. he wants to come help be a part of it.
hey Anquan, if your reading this, do a holdout until the Cards trade you to the Fins.

Hell yea......
and how is basically using a first round pick on a proven commodity bad? You don’t get that guarantee on draft day. This is all b.s. of course, the Cards won’t let him go……but if the situation arises…..the player is top shelf, ……hell yea, give up the pick, take the talent.

I would take him
but only for the right price. I would not send a 1st rounder. A combination of one of our 2nds and a 3rd. Of course that probably wouldn’t be enough, since Boldin isn’t a free agent until after the 2010 season. The Cardinals have all the leverage, especially because we may be desperate for WR help after last weeks showing. Ginn, Boldin, and Bess would look pretty nice, on paper, for the next 3-5 years though.

UHHHH
is a top 5 pick worth Boldin? no.
is a 20th pick worth him? yea sure.
Its Sunday afternoon.....do you know where your beer is?

friend o mine
look who we have……, put some talent on the field. It seems pricey, but its gold! You’re have the wonderful insight to know what that pick is worth, unlike on draft day.

First off, JMFlyer,
were you trying to get front-paged? Because you did a great job formatting the post and using blockquotes and everything. Kudos to you, my friend!
Now like you said, I don’t think Arizona will do anything with him this year. Possibly after the season, but not during it when they could easily be in the thick of things in that NFL West.
The reason I say I wouldn’t give up a 1st round pick is because we’re looking at (most likely) another top 10 pick. And I’m not sure a soon-to-be 28 year old receiver is worth a top 10 pick PLUS more. He’s a great player and everything, but by the time the Dolphins are ready to compete year in and year out, he’ll be in his early 30s.
If the cost was just a 2nd round pick PLUS extra, then I’d do it. But I can’t give ip a top 10 draft pick for him.

Not the goal
but it’s nice to get on the front page! Whenever I write a fanpost I try to make it easy to read and concise.
I have to agree with your assessment too. I’d take him but not for a 1st rounder. A 2nd and some change, sure. He is a gifted player. But his advancing age doesn’t make him worth a 1st. No if he were still 24, then a 1st wouldn’t be out of the question. Arizona will more than likely revisit trade scenarios after the ‘08 campaign. They have made it clear Fitzgerald is their keeper over Boldin. If we could get Boldin for a 2nd and 3rd or 4th, that would free us up to use our 1st rounder on an OLB like Georgia Tech’s Michael Johnson or CB like Ohio State’s Malcolm Jenkins.

Would anybody here be willing to trade Ronnie Brown and Ted Ginn for
Edgerrin James and Anquan Boldin?
Why the Dolphins would do it:
Edge and Ricky would be a serviceable RB tandem
You upgrade the WR corp big time, which without upgrade, dooms the Phins to see 8-9 in the box and no running success even with Brown.
Starting WR would be Boldin and Hagan/London/Wilford/Camarillo/Bess which would definitely be an upgrade. In fact, Pennington and Boldin would be money on 3rd and short.
Why the Cards would do it:
Replace Edge with a young future star Ronnie Brown (solidify the running game for years)
Ginn becomes a 3rd wide receiver (Breaston moves up to #2). It fits his skill set in the slot, upgrades the Cardinals WR speed and saves cap money.
I contend that you don’t need a star running back, you just need a serviceable one (Parmele may be that) and balance around your roster. It does no good to have two stud running backs and no receivers. The Jets game proved that.

ehhh
to much “older for younger” going on there. to many years of playibg left on the table

Heck no
Why on earth would we trade two former first rounders for James and Boldin? James is washed up and Boldin is good but spectacular; not to mention there is a huge age difference. Ronnie is still a top ten back in this league and Ginn shouldn’t be a #1 receiver (at least not yet). Besides, call me skeptical but I still don’t trust Ricky. I’m glad to have him on our team and I think he’s a great asset but I have no reason to fully trust him considering the stunts he’s pulled in the past.
by Enhalo on Sep 12, 2008 4:46 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
No, No, No
I wouldn’t say that Edge is washed up. I hope he doesn’t read that and get pumped up for Sunday. The man can still run the ball. I agree he is an older player, and not worth Ronnie Brown, but “washed up?” I think you will have a different opinion of Edge after Sunday. I hope that we can get a win, but if the Cards are up in the second half, Edge will have no problem running out the clock.

I would never trade ronnie
Ronnie is too good to trade and as much as I like ricky he is old. Ginn is also young and we would be getting an older WR. We need youth so that we can be the Cowboys/Patriots 3-5 years from now. Otherwise we will always be the 9-7 or 10-6 dolphins of years past.

Ronnie Brown isnt worth anything to anyone but us right now. M
Ted Ginn Jr is worth even less…with that contract.
we arent a player away so you cant break the bank for 1 guy.

He'd be one of hell of an asset to a rebuilding team though.

Maybe After the Season is Over
There has been a lot of drama over this (Drew has a way of making these things come to a head).
If you look at Q’s options he really doesn’t have a choice.
Option #1 – Hold out for a trade
Not the best idea, he gets benched for the season, didn’t play much last season, his price goes way down.
Option #2 – He plays his ass off goes 1200+ yards and he may get the contract that he is looking for. I don’t think from the Cards but from someone. and yes the you made the post much better. GO CARDINALS!

Serious on Boldin....
i grew up down south and I went to High School around the time Boldin was Mr.Florida as a QB down here at Pahokke. I went to FSU during his run there…..met him a few times….and even played 5 on 5 full court against him at the Leach center FSU’S Gym.
He’s a great guy and a amazing unselfish talent….at FSU we had so many QB injuries he played QB for a few games and shined. Even vs. Miami for a lil.
Get him. Dont give up this yrs high 1st …but get em.
Its Sunday afternoon.....do you know where your beer is?
by Rzayo24 on Sep 12, 2008 7:46 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
not worth the price
Contract is WAY to large for an injury prone WR… so why take the double hit… high pick to get him and a LARGE cap hit, while the team is rebuilding…. (don’t get me wrong the guy is a monster… it’s just the cost is way to high)
btw: this sounds more like AB is trying to convince people that he should be here, then those people (say 3 amigos) are interested in paying the price.
