Nat is right on
As Natalya comented in this thread: Why so much love for John Beck? I gotta agree with that sentiment.
As much as I would love to give Beck the benefit of the doubt, he has done nothing to engender any feelings of attachment on my part. Be that because of how he was handled last year, or because of the current regime's opinions of him- it's how it is.
If Parcells & Co. do not feel he is the guy, better off to cut ties now- rather than keep running Beck out there to see if just maybe he can change their mind. They have a guy in Henne that they seem to think is the future at QB. I am no Pennington fan, but he actually gives the Fins the best chance to have a consistent starting QB for the whole season- barring injury of course (And I know that's a big if.).
This gives the Fins the opportunity plug Henne into the 3rd spot and have McCown ready to go if Pennington goes down. I think it is important to keep Henne off the field as much as possible this year. And I actually think this scenario gives them the best chance to do this. Then next year, Henne can start the year as the number 2, and we'll see how the season transpires.
I truly believe that McCown is at best a back up- as shown by the multiple chances he has had in his career to grab a starter's role. And Penninton is a veteran starter- one whom Parcells has a certain amount of trust for. I joked when Favre landed in NY that I hoped the Fins didn't go after Pennington. After thinking about it though, it seems to make more sense to me than going into the season with the three guys they had. Unfortunately for Beck, that leaves him the odd man out (sorry Matty...ha). I wish him the best, but I've got no attachments to sever there to let him go.

John Dalton Beck is one of us
The following is why I think so many people, including me, really want to see Beck succeed.
Firstly, he was brought in last year with a new regime and people wrapped up a lot of that ‘new beginning’ hope in Beck, leading to an attachment. They researched him with people at BYU, looked up his old games, and convinced themselves he could play.
Then (and this is the crucial part) he got royally f-cked by Cam-cam’s disasterous season, thrown to the wolves when he hadn’t been in with the first squad long enough. Who else got fucked by Cam-cam? Oh that’s right, us, the fans. We dared to dream, and Cameron fucked it all up. We saw Beck get fucked around by Cameron and we feel some sympathy, the same happened to us. The fact that he could have performed much better even in the circumstances is irrelevant to that sympathy.
The last thing is that you never want to write off a guy before you know what you have in him. Look, Beck has not been pretty so far. We know this. But cutting him before he’s seen to have had a fair shake would lead to that awful ‘what-might-have-been’ feeling or ‘we’ll never know’ feeling. He’s had 4 games starting in the 2nd worst NFL season ever as a rook and then two weeks of a new offence in camp. That’s some tough shit right there, and a very small sample size to base an opinion on. Give him time to get his sea legs back after this awful storm and we’ll finally see what he has.
I don’t think he’s sticking around, but I wish him success.
Football isn't a matter of life and death - it's far more important than that.

Why so much love for John Beck?
Won’t find love from this man right here.
Are you picking up what I'm putting down?

Nice post J :)
I’m thinking maybe Neo was wishing Ryan was wearing Aqua instead of red/black?!
And yeah, he played well in his debut. Still think Redman starts but Ryan gets some games later in the season.

I'm falling off the wagon
I loved his college highlight videos, but the more I hear about him in the pros, I just don’t buy into the hype anymore. He can hardly handle a snap. He still has potential, but he better get his ass in gear very soon.

Don't worry
i will love Henne, for only 4 games, if he doesn’t show promises, i will be the one calling for his head first. BTW!! he better play this year, if not, then i will call for his head. We want a qb NOW no CP or MC clown, we drafted Henne and he need toi step up NOW, this year.

Let me add
that even Nat is surprise for the love to Beck, but failed to be surprise for the love shown to penniless, who haven’t play a down yet with the Dolphins, and now, everybody think he is our savyor. Ths is a train heading to a big crash. Tha coaching staff is clueless and what we have in the field is the same thing we got last year, with diff names. We have the same problems that we got last year and now people are saying that this player look good or thatt other has potencial. Everyone failed to notice that we made more pnalties than the average of last year, we were run all over the place, the wr’s STILL have a LOT of drop paces, NOTHING has change, but everybody think that penniless is going to solve all of this. BP is a HUGE D*K and with this experiment of a coach that we have, we are heading to the same spot of last year. How many times have we been saying that we need to stay with a qb that was drafted by us? but keep going back, looking for leftovers.
