Favre traded to Jets
I, for one, like the move. All this does is set the Jets back a few years. We all know the Jets still aren't going to contend for the Super Bowl. Now when Favre leaves in a year or two, the Jets will be right back in the same situation trying to find their QB of the future.
In 2 or 3 years, when the Dolphins are finally contenders, the Jets will have QB issues.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

great news
i was getting tired of the footage of him walking into and out of packers HQ, now i’ll be able to watch him going into jets HQ for the next 48 hours…. oooh and if we are lucky we might get to see him land on an aeroplane in NYC… YIPPPEEEE!!!!!
but otherwise, i hope the jets stink with him.
lol
yea…this means that we only got a couple more days before ESPN/NFLN finally can begin to talk about other things.
Agree with ya Matty
Sets the Jets back a couple of more years. We’re not going to be contending for those 2 years so what do we care?
Are you picking up what I'm putting down?
oh well
i guess we are just going to break the sack record against him ..F THE JETS
Our secondary...
should be cracking open a few cold ones later too. All those juicy INT’s to add to #4’s league record! :)

I wouldn't worry...
... he’s only a two year rental for the Jests at best and we’re not exactly going to be that competitive during that time. Just means they’ll have to blood a new QB around the time we should be getting it together ourselves, he he :)

Now we're guaranteed two games on national TV
I don’t need NFL Ticket to watch the Fins-Jets games. That’s what this means to me. Also, lots of opportunities to watch and analyze the Jets, my old arch-nemesis (Pats having adopted that role now of course).
does make me wonder
all you gamblers out there, did the over/under drop on the Phins? you have to figure vegas was counting at least one of the jets games as a win for the phins? now?? have to guess that the Jets will be favored for both games now?
I think we'll win the opener
1 discombobulated and unprepared Favre + 100 degree swamp ass Miami weather = 13 – 3 Fins Win!
Agreed!
He wasn’t keen on Tampa ‘cuz of the heat. I just hope it’s a record setter in SFla when the Jests come to town, LOL.

Where did you hear THAT?!
Dude lives in Mississippi. I doubt that the Florida heat scared him away.
Matty, I have to disagree with you. Colin Cowherd on ESPN Radio always says that there’s no such thing as long-term in sports and I agree. Play to win NOW, not to win in a few years. Year before last, the Jets were really strong. They added several top players (Faneca, Pace, Favre, Gholston) this off season and should go for the trophy. They can worry about their future QB situation in two years. I’m fcking jealous! We’re debating between fcking Beck, McCown and Henne for chrissakes!

Can only go...
... by what you’re told and that was what I was told by two buddies. If we were wrong, fair enough.
But as for win now? What does your dictionary define “now” as? We’ve been playing “Win Now” since Wanny first arrived and I’m stil waiting…
Nope, I’ll take the longer term view thanks.

I was hoping Green Bay
would trade him to the Jets, but get more in return.
Brett isn’t the player he was 10 years ago, but a lot of the media and the fans seem to think he is. He’s an unreliable gunslinger who’ll might throw two or three touchdowns but will throw three or four picks.

agreed
it looks like it will be either a second rounder or a third… more then Cam paid for Green but then again they are getting a better QB, and one that someone else wanted too.

Yeah....
I noticed that the terms for compensation were related to the performance of the team, so next year when they still stink, they won’t be giving up much.
Anyone remember what the last team Wilie Mays played for? I’ll bet most people don’t, his career had been on the decline for a while so San Fran traded him to the Mets. His heart never really was in it and he played less than half the games that season and then retired. I think that’s how this will turn out.
Either that or he’ll end up like Roger Clemens and we’ll find out the secret to his longevity is HGH.

WHAT?!
The guy threw 28 touchdowns and 15 interceptions last year. Would you like Miami’s QB to be that “unreliable” this year?

That posted in a weird spot
I was replying to Daren’s comment about Favre being “unreliable”

not done yet??
profootball talk is reporting that Favre would rather go to the Bucs? and maybe this isn’t a done deal yet.
Always liked Brett...
...oh well… won’t pull for him anymore! the jets seem to think they are a contender with favre, i’m not sold. who the hell knows.. now if we can just avoid having to read the headline “dolphins show interest in qb pennington” yipes!! haha… i hope i’m joking and not seeing the future.
The Jayfiss Report ...one fan's rants
Wow, I disagree with most...
You know, I want to beat the Jets this year. Their biggest weakness were their awful QBs. Favre is no elite QB, but for this year alone he improves them immensely. Since I think its important that our young team win its first home game to set up the season (and also because it was one of the easier home games) I’m disappointed that it’s going to be a Favre circus. This move can only help the belief of the Jets players. Belief and motivation are important. And the move doesn’t really hurt the Jets because they don’t have their QB of the future currently on the roster. They’ve got to wait till the next draft anyway. So what are they losing by playing Favre? Nothing. Anything that helps the Jets is a negative in my eyes, so I’m not happy about this.
I thought...
the Jets had trouble signing all the players they brought in because of the salary cap. How in the world are they going to pay Farve ? Do they enough room under the Cap ?
Jets are going to be in caphell for the next few years
All they’ve done is sign guys who are no sure thing(except for Faneca)
and that includes Favre.
Let me get this striaght, a 38 yearold QB is going to lead a weaker team then he was on, with no chemistry with the players, with a new system to learn(in the span of 2 months) and in a tougher conference?
Good luck with that
Why so serious?
the jets
have plenty of time to find a QB…all they need to do is draft one Matty.
Home opener...
I want Dolphins defenders swarming in his face and under his chin strap so bad that he re-retires before the next Jets game.
An Idea..
Why don’t the Dolphins try to pick up Pennington? I think he is more proven then McCown
Da PuN
JMHO...
but after tying up $3M in McClown he’ll have to play pretty bad to get cut (this year at least). Henne is shaping up pretty well so with luck he’ll be taking over in the back half of the season once the OL has had time to gel. Why cut McClown and burn up more money on a guy who’ll be a rental?
C'mon over to Shady's world, MiamiDolphins.co.uk
You talk about improving your QB
position immensely, Favre over Clemens-Pennington is a huge difference.
I’m looking at this from the point of view of Favre having joined the dolphins now and here’s what I’d be worried about…
How well can he learn the offense? The first preseason game is practically already here
Team chemistry?
Timing with receivers?
Does he really want to be here, on this team?
He will he do against teams he rarely plays (afc rather than nfc)?
Lots of questions, which is what makes me skeptical that Favre will turn the jets into, say, an 11 win team and a playoff run. He’s been a HOF QB so far, but at 38, how motivated is any player to basically start all over again in a new team, new city, new conf, etc?
As for Pennington, he’s easily better than McCown and has actually had real success in the NFL (taking a team to the playoffs several times for instance). Plus he’s a very smart guy who I think could make a good mentor for an up and coming young QB. So I say get over this whole, oh he’s a former jet thing, and recognize he’s better than our current ‘veteran QB’ and worth a look at least.
I hear what you're saying Natalya
... but we only just picked up McClown this year.
I know we’ve got cap room but should we keep burning $$$ just to bring in another stop-gap veteran? I don’t know either way but I think you could put up a few of your questions (above) next to Chenningtons name too though couldn’t you? Is that not enough, at this stage of the season, to stick with McClown?
For me? I’d say we go with what we have rather than tie up another, say, $2M in a caretaker.
C'mon over to Shady's world, MiamiDolphins.co.uk
Oh I understand your point, no doubt...
the big problem is that it is very, very late in the preseason to make a successful change of teams.
I wouldn’t worry about those questions for Pennington. Mainly as he’s a) much younger than Favre, b) got cut when he was battling to be the starter prior to the trade. Favre on the other hand, basically brought this situation all on himself by retiring/un-retiring/etc etc.
I don’t know how many of you remember but it has an eerie reminder to what could have happened just before Marino retired. Remember how Dennis Green was trying to lure him to Minnesota – they had even come up with a playbook just for Marino. It was the year the Vikes drafted Culpepper so they wanted a veteran starter. I don’t know how seriously Marino thought of it, but he ended up retiring right then and there.
Watching Favre go to NY, makes me think of what it might have been like if Dan had opted to join Minny.

Pennington To The Vikings
Makes my heart warm. I’d love to see his efficient noodle-arm making just enough throws to keep defenses honest for Adrian Peterson.
Poor, poor Green Bay.
Poor, poor Jets.
Poor, poor Brett Favre.

Even if they don't...
at least they were “the master of their domaine !” What sucks is we are going have to continue hearing next year ” Is Farve going to retire ?” all over again
