Seems like years ago

I just watched the Dolphins first win of 2007 and I have to say I was clapping and near tears..(20 inch biceps and I still turn into a pussy when it comes to the Dolphins)..thru all the crap that has happened since then..that win seems like years ago.... I was at a sports bar with my young daughters(easy..it was daytime and Big daddy was drinking Ice tea) and when the game went into overtime..I felt ill...I watched the Ravens drive all the way down and set up for a field goal..I felt so sick and pissed that I walked out and couldn't watch....of course I had to listen on the radio (seemed to be less painful)

We heard Stover miss the kick and were stunned and happy..when we scored a touchdown and won the game.. we had to pull the car over in a Dunkin Doughnuts parking lot .. we were jumping up and down, hugging and crying and laughing and shouting GO DOLPHINS.....people were starring..you would have thought we won the whole damn Superbowl.....Ahhhh that was a good day...It was so nice to get that monkey off oour backs...!

Any other magic moments that day? GO PHINS!!!!!!!!!

You would think that after last year... if you buy season tickets to the Dolphins, this year they would throw in free counseling ?

rofl i could use it, too

i felt like a nerd on a playground last yr during pregame, thinking things like ‘man i hope they dont &*%$ us over too bad today…" "maybe we’ll get A TD…" and then as the year wore on, more like " maybe Cam will spontaneously combust from all the hate he’s bringing on himself….oh no, then malarkey will be coach…" [yeah i know i misspelled it, thats how i spell it tho : p ] …. or " if jason could just rip off brady’s head, it would be worth the humiliation of watching this game….."
.. counseling? i think i need anger mgmt at this point along w/ it… if we get smoked repeatedly this yr the tv may not survive the season….[watches the tv stare back, unintimidated by threats] see? my whole attitude is just horrid…i dont even get respect from the tv…sigh

not quite that dramatic

i live in ohio and last year was the first year I got DirectTV and was able to watch a full season of my beloved Fins. Of course, losing every week was pretty depressing. its weird but when the dolphins lose on sunday it gets me depressed and I tend to feel shitty about all the other things that may be going bad in my life. so the dolphins losing sorta serves as a catalyst to getting depressed about other things. needless to say, sundays and mondays were not good days for me last year.

i was in my basement alone. my wife had gone out to do some shopping, which is good cause usually she lectures me on what the dolphins need to do to get better. when troy smith came down and got that touchdown i thought it was over. i gifured we had just found another way to blow another game. when they got the ball first I was sure they were gonna win. you always hope for a missed field goal, but you never expect the dude to actually miss, so when Stover missed in OT a flickr of hope was sparked. still our offense really didnt do much or look that good. i figured we would be puntin after 1st and 2nd down. then the slant pass and Camarrillo off to the races. that moment when you realized that noone was going to catch him…. indescribable. touchdown. i ran around my basement screaming and jumping on furniture. one of the purest moments of joy in my life. i didnt realize how bad losing felt until i felt the relief of winning one game and not going 0-16. i know i am just a stupid fan and i have virtually nothing to do with the ’fins, but seeing the team go nuts, JT go nuts, and Wayne go nuts on the TV, i felt a close commorodiarity with the Dolphins.

yes, i know, i need counseling too.

go fins!

I was right there with you.

Horrible year, but that was the one bright spot. I also buy DirecTV Season Ticket every year so that I can watch every Fins game, but by the 2nd half of the season I was regretting spending the money. It was brutal.
Here’s to a better year this year!
Go Fins!

yes, dramatic

I crashed my car for the first time that day. My family was in the car. Not serious, but we were shaken up. Figured I’d missed the game when we got home like three hours later only to see the ravens miss the kick. The rest is history, and because of the stress of the last four hours I swear me and my brother were almost in tears. (And he’s a bloody Broncos fan.) What an awesome victory. Otherwise it would have been one of the worst days of my life.

Football isn't a matter of life and death - it's far more important than that.

I remembered in season 2006

a friend of mine, he is a Raider fan, everybody were making joke on him because the Raider were 0-7 or 8 or something like that. Even a common friend wanted to bet 50 bucks that the Raiders ended the season with a 0-16 record. He was depress that he didn’t want to make the bet, so i spoke to him and told him, that that was a good bet, that it was imposible for a team to go 0-16 in a season. Obviously he won the bet and gave me 25 bucks for believing in his team, that they could win, AT LEAST , one game. Then!!! our 2007 season started. It was umbeliveble, with the past of ea week, the feeling of going 0-16 started to grouth on me, it was scary and very depresing. Resignation, of becoming a 0-16 team, then add the patsies season. I felt so DANME!!, went we won that game it felt like an oasys in a desert, then the GRAND FINALLY wit the Giants winning the SB. I will wear a Giants cap this year in a couple of there games LOL

I will see the Dolphins win a SUPER BOWL before i die(21 years and counting)

Ravens game was "murder"

I’m a diehard fan here in Nebraska, so without DTV its tuff too get the games. I go too a nice little bar where the owner treats me pretty good. He lets me have one of the tv’s in the corner and have been able to watch all the Dolphin games there. But, then everyone knows how hardcore you are and are open too jeers and heckles. And they’ve had plenty too say the last couple of years. Last year, 2 or so weeks before the Ravens game, they started talking 0-16 too me with lots of laughs. Some of the regulars started calling me “Maytag”. I asked “Maytag, what the hell is that about?” The reply they gave me was “Because like the Maytag repairman, being a Dolphin fan is the loneliest job in town!”. Reaaaaaaaallly funny. Thank God the Dolphins beat the Ravens that day. Believe me, with no one in my corner, and the way they looked like they were going to give it away…again, it was nerve wracking. I will say this though, after the win, all the regulars that see me down there for games were pretty cool. 2 minutes after the game, I had about 4 beers sent too me, It was like they won the Super Bowl or something! That one win really felt good, and to wash it down with free beer made it taste even better!

great story...

….so who is the popular team in those parts? Kansas City? St. Louis? Denver?

by Matty I on Aug 15, 2008 4:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Thanks

Kansas City and Denver are the two “local” AFC teams, St. Louis is on Fox (The NFC channel) only when they are doing better than other NFC teams. Pretty much locked into KC or Denver as far as regional coverage. I read somewhere (maybe your wonderful place here) that they are going too show the Dolphin/Jet game instead of KC and the Patriots as their national game…..that means we’ll get the KC game. I’d say KC has the most fans around here, but theres no shortage of Packer, Viking, Bear and Bronco fans. Kinda depends on who’s doing best, but not this kid. My first Dolphin game that I remember on t.v. (Super Bowl against the Cowboys) hooked me. Little kids tears turned into a long love affair with no regrets. We’ll be back!
