Miami to change colors and logo?
Please say it ain't so!!
http://www.palmbeachpost.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/palmbeach/miamidolphins/entries/2008/08/12/dolphins_of_a_different_color.html
Found an interesting nugget from the fantastic blog Uniwatch, the world’s finest blog devoted to sports uniform minutiae.
The writer, Paul Lukas, got a tip from a reader that the Dolphins are looking to make wholesale changes to their image.
Monday, he wrote:
“Word in Reebok/Adidas world is that the Miami Dolphins contacted them today to totally re-image them. We’re talking new logo, new color scheme, and new uniforms. Why? Because, according to their front office, they want to be “tough,” and unfortunately orange and teal don’t go along with tough.’”

So stupid
Raise your hand if you are getting sick of this stuff. I dont think that the ‘trifecta’ realizes the Dolphins did have legacy before they stepped in. I’ve been a fan for years now and change is a good thing but too much is too much. Colors and logos=too much

Hand Raised
If you kick ass and take names, pink and ruffles can look “mean”. I love tradition, and Miami is tradition in the NFL. Miami IS Aqua and Coral!!! I hope this is just another rumour, I would be heartbroke if they change pretty much anything. Keep the 3D Dolphin, plus mesh it with the old school uniform, thats my new uniform. The Chargers kind of did it right, I hope we do the same.

You know...
it has already been proven that a team could wear black, have swords on their helmets, and sign bad character tough guys and still win no more than 5 games a year.
Just ask Oakland.
Keep the same color scheme it is classy and has a lot of history behind it.

Uniform alterations.
The logo is classic, so they could never change it without a complete uproar. However, I would like to see them try to incorporate more of the dark blue (which they added to the logo in the late 90’s to accentuate its features and make it look “more fearsome”) into the uniform scheme.
"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat." - Theodore Roosevelt

Changes
Dude, look at the Tampa Bay Bucs and Denver Broncos. They were trying to rebrand franchises that had developed an aura of losing about them on top of playing in ridiculous orange. For them, it made sense.
The dolphins, on the other hand, have a legacy of winning in aqua and orange (or teal, whatever you want to call it) and a new uniform would piss all over that tradition; the perfect season, Shula, Marino, ummm… Fiedler etc. We haven’t even been bad for a decade yet, there’s no reason to start freaking out rebranding everything. For my money the all white phins uni is the sweetest in football, and our helmet is one of the best too.
Put it this way – the chargers have started playing in (sweet) powder blue uniforms, a soft color that girls love. But you think it makes Tomlinson any easier to tackle, or Merriman any less ‘roided up and mental? Course not.
This is a Parcells ego trip. He wants to replace a dolphin with a tuna. Stick with the classics, please.
Football isn't a matter of life and death - it's far more important than that.

My gosh, I detest powder blue....
and no, LT wouldn’t be any easier to stop if he wore a creamsicle uni..

Wouldn't it be advantageous to play mind games with our "cute" animal?
I mean, you see a dolphin and you are pulled into a false sense of security. I mean, you see his nice shiny hair, and you think “he’s a nice guy, we’ll win with him”. Or another time, you’ll see a dolphin with a cool mustache, and you think he’s tough because he’s missing his lower beak or whatever. Next thing you know, this other dolphin is telling you he’s not gonna coach the Alabama football team. Then a psychiatrist dolphin with glasses tries to make you think he’s a coach, but he’s just a psychiatrist who deals with families, what does he know? Dolphins are very cunning animals. They’ll make you their friend, and then swipe the floor from under you. Why wouldn’t you want a dolpin as a logo?

Remember, it was just a plastic/metal thing
before it became the essence of a dolphin helmet :)

Just tell the trifeca
to do whatever they want to the logo and the uni’s on madden. My team after a few years usually became the Miami Sharks after JT and Zach retired but since they are not here anymore wtf. Maybe a nice shade of blue and black for away and blue and white at home lol.

Willie Beamin
Context is huge. I love the Dolphins, but a Dolphin with a helmet jumping in front of a sun is a little GAAAAYYYYYY. I’m sorry, but this is a gladiator type sport and there is nothing masculine about our logo.
The Miami Sharks are here. We wear white in the summer and black in the winter.
The Phins throwback uni is worn every now and again to honor the past players.

urban legend
There’s a similar rumour about the Hurricanes started every year on the UM message boards, I wonder if this is just that prank changed a little.

i hope your right Offer Doll
i’ll be so bummed if they change the color scheme… teal is my fav color which is why i became a dolfan at age 4, and orange is 1 of the only colors that doesn’t look gay w/ teal…. im all for subtle changes, but our colors set us apart from everyone else… how many red & blue teams do you really want in the league? not to mention, that i dont want any damn ‘Brady Blue’ on my teams uniform ok? fk thattttttt…...or ‘Dallas Silver” [bad enuf zach has to wear it : p ] or anything else…. yeah Tampa needed an upgrade at the time and it was definitely better, but i’m not the biggest ‘pewter’ fan either, so, not much of an upgrade at that imo ….and the patriots needed a change once upon a time as its tuff to look threatening ‘bending over’ and they had a pretty crappy history at the time so it made sense too…i do like the new chargers uniforms though, more than most ‘upgrades’ i admit, but i’m kinda impartial to the throwback uniforms for most teams so i like that direction…..in any case, i think i’d feel a bit ‘betrayed’ as a fan if they change the actual colors.

WHO CARES?
So teal and orange aren’t “manly” colors.
As long as its not pink I dont care.

theres an idea
When you think of a dolphin you see a sweet little dolphins swimming in a peaceful ocean. There mascot T.D. is a muscular version of a dolphin with legs. which just makes us look stupid. Lets be the miami SHARKS! Thats perfect! In which it would make our mascot look even stupider. But for new colors Black and green. A big Black Shark with some green out lines in the jersey. Now THERES an idea.
