Can Pennington Give Us Some Inside Info?

I was wondering if Bill Parcells was thinking of a little espionage in his quick moves to nab Pennington.  He obviously knows the Jets O and plays against the D.  Maybe he can give us a little edge in the opener as to what he saw in camp, people's tendencies, the playbook.  Heck Pennington's pretty smart maybe he memorized it.  This is probably a little bit just me trying to get over my immediate revulsion at us signing a guy I've cursed and mocked for a few years, or the fact that my wife throws the ball harder than him.  But I don't know, maybe there's some evil genius to this.

Feel free to speculate.

I agree

I am sure he will be in some of the defensive meeting when they put the game plan together for the Jets game. He will also have good insight on what the Jets are doing on the defensive side, The flip side of that is,The jets know his limitations and wil exploit them. Edge to Pennington due to smarts I think he will have a slight advantage having practiced against this defensive for 3 training camps..

Chad P.

Yes, he will have some info on the Jets and their offensive plans, but don’t forget that they are going to adapt their offense to Brett Favre now. Brett has a limited time to learn and will not run an offense that still adapts to Chad they will now focus on Favre.
On D. the Jets knowledge of Pennington could hurt, but I think he has an edge on knowing the D and their tendencies. They know Chad, but they don’t know the offense. Chad knows them and does know the defense. Advantage to Chad (until he proves he belongs in Miami and throws a couple of INT’s).
This is the "bridge" that Miami needs right now to win some games before handing over the keys to Chad Henne. You don’t want to throw the kid to the wolves like they did with Beck. Let him learn from a guy that normally does not turn the ball over. I agree with the move a lot. You have to look toward the future, but also win today. not saying they will with Chad, but this is a much better move than keeping Josh M.
