Greg Cote says getting Favre makes sense...
Greg Cote must be smoking something real good! I just read an article where he actually APPROVES of a trade with Taylor for Favre. I personally disagree completely, but you can read his (nonsensical?) justifications here:
http://www.miamiherald.com/616/story/596962.html
Cote scores some minor points in the article, but there's just so many negatives to counter balance his justifications: Favre lack of familiarity with our system, he's stated aversion to mentor "the competition", not to mention the loss of one of the greatest defensive ends of all time. And the list goes on and on and on...
Anyway, read the article, and let the flames begin!!!

Yeah
Cote should lay off the crack.
His so called logic makes no sense. The examples of QBs ending their careers with other teams were feeble at best. Unitas as a Charger? Namath as a Ram? He even went to so far as to mention Michael Jordan [with the Wizards]. Umm, how did all those work out? In each case it was a sad display of a shell of the former player, who should have just called it a career.
And then he goes on to say that the move makes sense for Farve, because not only would he have to take a pay cut, but he would be cheered if he led the Fins to 6 wins- and considered a saint if they won 8. Does Cote really think that that good enough Brett? If the guy is coming back, I gotta think he wants a shot at another ring. He’s not gonna take a paycut to help a team rebuild.
I know most of this is all kind of “duh” stuff… but had to throw my two cents in.

I want FAVRE too. it does make sense
Are you guys crazy? the quarterbacks we have now have done absolutely nothing. i am really excited about Beck and intrigued about Henne, but Favre is Favre. We would be crazy to pass him up! F@$% crazy!
the loss of one of the greatest DE of all time? We would be trading him for one of the greatest QBs of all time. we are going to lose JT anyway and he doesnt even want to be a dolphin anymore! at least Favre wants to play. JT doesnt even want to, he wants to go act. Ask Brett Favre if in 10 years he would rather be known as a football player or an actor. I guarantee he wont give JT’s sellout bullsh#$ answer.
look we have been a pathetic team ever since marino retired. what is the biggest reason. no goddamn qb. we’ve had nothing but placeholders or gamemanagers back there for 10 freakin years. do hall of fame qbs grow on trees? when you have a chance to get one, you do it. even if he is an old fart. you mention Unitas as a Charger and Namath as a Ram. how about Montana as a chief? he took them to the AFC championship game. even his last game was in the playoffs. the titans got rid of mcnair, didn’t the ravens go like 13-3 the next year with him? does anybody really think we would get more wins with Beck and JT this year than with Favre? you can argue we need to get beck and henne the playing time, but you can say the same think about our new DEs.
What????
First off, I think the only place he plays is in Green Bay. Second, getting Favre makes no sense at all! He’d be nuts to come to the Phins anyway. Brett wants another ring which he will not get in Miami for a few years. As durable as he is, Favre doesn’t have another 3 years in him. I respect the heck out of him as a player and all but what are you thinking? The only way Favre in Miami makes sense is if the rest of the team is playoff caliber, which unfortunately, it clearly is not. A few years ago I’d be all for whatever it would’ve taken to get him but not now. We are too far away from playoff and SB contention to spend a bunch of money or God Forbid Draft Picks on him. Understand that I am not saying he isn’t still great…....he absolutely is. We just need to see if Beck can take the lead role and become the future….......if he can’t then next year we draft another QB and give Henne his shot….if not him then draft another and another. We’ve tried for ten years to trade away valuable picks for Dan’s replacement – that obviously has not worked. It’s time to draft one and build one from within.
