Quincy Carter story corrobarated on PBP

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/palmbeach/miamidolphins/entries/2008/07/index.html

Excerpts:

"Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin reported today on his radio show in the Dallas-Fort Worth area that Carter will be in Davie on Friday for a workout at the Dolphins’ training facility."

“I see Ricky Williams playing again,” Carter told the Palm Beach Post before he checked into a South Florida rehab facility in December. “I only failed one test. Ricky failed about five or six.”

“I need to work on myself and I also want to get back into the NFL,” Carter said in December. “Ultimately I want to begin a new life and do the right thing.”

what a nightmare

sorry guys, but i dont know if i could handle that. i would definitely lose all faith in this regime if Q. Carter is our QB. this is mindboggling if true.

QB's Struggling is to be expected

Training camp has gone almost like a movie script. Henne showing flashes buy green, Beck losing his poise under pressure, and McCown being average. I think maybe Quincy Carter is just being brought in (if at all) to light a fire under those guys. My .02, start McCown first two or three games and then throw in Henne. Beck needs to sit and get used to the pressure of big time football.

I disagree.

I don’t think we should start Henne at all this year. He needs to be eased into it. I say do it right put him in a couple 3rd quarters near the end of the season. We don’t need another Beck on our hands. And if our QBs aren’t performing, the more competition the better. At the very least, like you said, it will light a fire under them. But, I say give Quincy a chance. He’s very hungry for it and is in a similar situation to that of Ricky. He might seriously kick it up a notch. There really is no reason to pass on potential QBs at this point.

You may be right

I have a feeling Henne is tougher mentally though. He started QB for Michigan and I just don’t think he’s going to scare as easily. Also, he’s got a big time arm. But I might be just too excited to get him on the field. Either way, QC trying out isn’t a bad thing. He has to impress Tuna first anyway.

FINALLY!!

Geez, what took so long. You got a ProBowl caliber guy like Carter just sittin out there twiddling his thumbs… it is only a matter of time before the Pats sign him! We gotta act fast! He is the future of the franchise, fo at least the next 6 years! And like Ricky, he has very little wear and tear on his very young 90yr old frame.
And the way our QBs are playing, it’s obvious that none of them are the answer for the Fins, so why waste time. And Ricky and Quincy can form their own 12 step group, and have meetings during practice to help keep away from the wackytabacky.

Who needs an old washed up guy like Favre. This is a BRILLIANT move, and just like the name is synonymous with the greatest American presidency of the modern era… LET THE CARTER YEARS BEGIN!!!

Well i dont think hes gonna make it

Beforerickey was a pot head he was one of the best backs in the league….Quiency not so much hes just a talented guy thats about it,But a the qb spot you need to be more than that. Its not like if he was young tho the guy is already in his 30s,So by the time he gets in shape gets to now the offense….Hell be ready to retire so its just a waist of roster space and time even…........

Who says

he’s not in shape? He’s been playing in the CFL for years just like Ricky was, and Ricky came back in excellent condition.
