Good Bet/Bad Bet

Bet a Steeler Fan $20 that Miami would (at least) 6 games.

Also bet him $20 that the Steelers wouldn't win 10 games this year.

Given Parcells record of turning teams around, a few breaks I can see us winning 6 games.

The Steelers, well I gave him 9 strong possible loses, but he still wanted the bet. BTW those loses were:

@ Cleveland

@ Philly

@ Jacksonville

NYG

Indy

SD

@ NE

Dallas

@ Tenn

There is NO WAY they win 10 games.

Any thoughts?

...while i am inlcined to agree with you, i am not a betting man. And trying to forecast the NFL from year seems next to impossible. I am not so positive CLE, JAX, or TENN are sure bets to have strong years… I think this year the Browns have a good shot of being last year’s Saints.

But like I said who the hell knows. I hope you win the $40 and spend it on Fins gear.

Eh

not much of a betted my either. Don’t think $40 over the course of a entire season is all that much. We work together and its good to hound if your winning, it gets you through the day.

Pittsburgh line took a hit with the loss of Faneca. They had NO running game when Parker went down. And their defense isn’t getting any younger. No way they win 10 games.

As for our Fins. I have FULL faith Parcells will do what he always down in the past, and thats get players that know/want to play. Haven’t been a big fan of his coaching the past few years, but the man knows fottball players and surrounds himself with people and coaches to get the most out of them. He has done it his enitre career. Thinking 5 wins, fingers crossed for 6.-)

Are you picking up what I'm putting down?

I agree with

the Miami bet. I would not be surprised if we have a winning season. That’s easy money.

The Steelers however, I have not followed enough in the offseason to make that wager. Have you? Just think about how a Steelers fan is betting you blind. He’s probably betting solely regarding last years performance. I would not take that bet until I read up on Steeler’s training camp.

Hi Neo...

Interesting bets.

From what I know of the odds, just for fun of course (ha!), the over/under on wins for the steelers & dolphins are: 9 and 5-1/2.

So you are basically taking the over on the dolphins and the under on the steelers. I’d say you are likely to win one and lose the other.

As for the losses for the steelers:

Cleveland - will derek anderson play well in year 2?
Philly – McNabb has been injured during every season for the last few years.
Jacksonville
NYG - Regular season Eli Manning and you know what that means
Indy - Tough place to win
SD - Tough but the chargers did look terrible for a while last year at first.
NE – Tough place to win
Dallas – Dallas was in a swoon at the end of the season last year.
@ Tenn – Does Vince Young have anyone to throw to?

my guess is you'll spilt

I really don’t see the phins winning 6…. vegas has the over/under at 4.5 so you are going OVER… my guess is 4 wins will be a good year. I just don’t see the offense putting up enough points with a difficult schedule.

As to pittsburgh, i don’t know enough about them except that the o-line is good but they are very thin. So if the front 5 stay healthy they’ll win 12… too many soft games… do you see them losing to either baltimore or cincy??
so they just have to go 6-6 in the other twelve? I do… but I hate the steelers, so I hope you take all the money.
best of luck…

I'd say a split

And I think Pitt winning less than 10 is more likely than Miami winning 6. Until I see better QB play, I just can’t bring myself to say the Dolphins will win anymore than 4 or 5.

good chance

I like the Pitt bet, they have a tough schedule and are overrated. The Miami bet i would like a lot more if it was five wins. I think getting that 6th will be mighty tough.
