No deal is done yet, but Chad Henne's agent has said he expects it to be done by the time training camp begins with a 9 am practice on Saturday.

Phillip Merling might be another story, though his agent is the same as both Bill Parcells and Tony Sparano. Also good news is that PFT reports the Giants have signed Kenny Phillips, the final pick of round 1 and the pick right before Merling. Perhaps that will help bring these two sides together.

Good info matty

I’m sure they will both be at camp. Also, the sporting news is reporting that a bunch of teams have inquired about a trade for Favre. The phins are one of them.

only 3 numbers

have been retired by the dolphins in franchise history… Marino’s 13, Griese’s 12, and Csonka’s 39. There’s ALOT of great player’s, HOFers, Franchise Greats, who do not have their number retired. Buoniconti, Langer, Stephenson, Warfield, are all members of the NFL HOF, and do not have retired numbers. Great player’s like Kuchenberg, Duper, Clayton, Nat Moore, Richmond Webb, will not have their numbers retired.

Historically, it seems only truly transcendent stars and Franchise Icons have their numbers retired. While I agree with anyone who says JT was a great player, on of the best in this franchises long history, I think it’s up for debate whether he is the single greatest defensive player in Dolphin’s history, and thus deserving of being the first Dolphin Defender to have a retired number.

I would vote to retire 54 and 99 together when they both end up in the HOF, but it is up for debate. This won’t be a no brainer, although I do hope Zach and JT are both honored

I agree

I don’t believe Merling should get it, but I was just pointing out that it’s not a sure thing

If Marino vouches for them

then 99 and 54 will be retired, thats the only reason why Cszonka’s number is retired.

ehh

wouldn’t you think Marino would’ve vouched for Duper and Clayton as well?

good counterpoint, but Clayton and Duper werent elite WRs, they are very good, but not HOF worthy.

true

can’t argue that point, but what about Warfield?

Warfield was an incredible athlete.

His contribution often gets overlooked behind the likes of Zonk. I think it boils down to the fact that you can’t retire too many numbers, so the selection process is even stingier that HoF ballots. I seriously doubt Zach makes it. I am inclined to lean toward “no” for JT as well.

I am more concerned about Merling than Henne.

Henne is 3rd string right now anyway. Merling has a chance to start. We need him even more now after trading JT.
