First dibs on the Waiver Wire??

I was reading an article somewhere that mentioned the Dolphins have first dibs on the waiver wire due to having the worst record last year.  It also said that the Trifecta would probably take full advantage of that and closely watch who is cut.  I was like 'hell yeah!'  But then I remembered that the waiver wire always confuses me.  Does anyone have a breakdown of the waiver rules, the time periods inwhich cuts most likely occur.  Also, I've been searching for a site that keeps track of waivers only.  Can't find one.  I saw the Texans signed Rosie Colvin after the Pats cut him but that's it.  Any waiver gurus out there?

OK found a transactions page on foxsports

Seems to be pretty clear cut as to cuts and signings. But still would like to know the waiver rule breakdown and if we do have first dibs on ALL players cut or how that works.

We only get dibs on those players...

...who qualify for waivers. If I recall, any player with less than 4 years of experience is “waived.” Any player with more than that is “released.” That’s the difference. The waiver period is 72 hours after the “waiving” of a player with less than 4 years of service. If the player is unclaimed after 72 hours, he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Cool thanks

I knew there was a catch, but not a bad one as I don’t really want us to get more vets, but young prospects who maybe fit our scheme well or whatever. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, or something like that.

Who could be out there?

anybody got some info on which guys could be on the waiver wire? Wonder if any young, potential-filled, 3-4 OLB’s will be out there so we can start grooming JT and JP’s replacements.
