More Jason Taylor info coming soon?

Here's something interesting that a reader e-mailed to me, after which I further looked into it.

Earlier today, Yahoo's Jason Cole was on the Jorge Sedano Show on 790 The Ticket.  Cole and Sedano talked about things like "spygate" and the Cedric Benson stuff.  But at the very end of the interview, which can be heard right here, Cole tells Sedano that he was on the set of Dancing With The Stars earlier this week.  Sedano then asks Cole if there's any news on Jason Taylor, to which Cole replies:

"Not yet.  Maybe either tomorrow or Monday there'll be a story on it."

Could there actually be some new info on this JT saga?  Maybe.  Or it could be that Cole wants people waiting for his latest column on Yahoo! Sports and he's trying to just drum up some interest in it.

I guess we'll have to wait and see what Cole has, if he indeed has anything at all.

Cole

is an ass hole!!!!

He’s a most self centered, selfish sport writer I know (there are others). He’s gonna write something the he streched as far as he could to make something out of nothing.

On the set of Dancing… equals to girlie-man!!!

yeah..

Cole had him definitely being traded a few weeks ago. I used to like the guy when he was at the Herald, but he seems like he is too busy now trying to get the scoop- and if he doesn’t have one, he just fabricates stuff or sensationalizes rumors..

i will believe it when i see it.

way off topic

I don’t want this to turn into a political thing but has anyone noticed that the icon guy for sb nation looks like barack obama with a hat on. I thought it was funny, getting back to cole…..I think his but is on the hot seat because he is always reaching. matty1 and other “good” bloggers have gotten more reputable leads then Cole. I love the time we live in that places like this help you realize we are not ALL gulable. Enjoy the job you have Cole I doubt it will last for long.

JT = Ocho Zippo + uno

JT is starting to creep down into the chad johnson realm… but instead of ranting to the press. he hired a press agent on yahoo sports to whine for him…. shut up JT and do your job and things will work out for you and if you can’t do that then shut up retire and see if anyone really cares what you do on ‘the sureal world’

wow

no need for all that especially since for all we know Cole is making things up as he goes along. All we’ve heard publicly is that JT will be a Dolphin and that him and Sparano talk on a regular basis. So just because Jason Cole decides that JT wants out, all the sudden Taylor is Chad Johnson? I have to disagree with you there.

The biggest issue so far with JT is that Parcells “supposedly” ignored him on his visit to the facility, but Chris Mortensen’s explaination of the incident made much more sense than the rest of the media’s portrayal. Mort said JT peeked into a crowded room where Parcells and others were watching tape, and made a joke about them watching DE tape. Nobody’s sure if Parcells even knew he was at the door.

All this crap about a rift between Taylor and Parcells is BS to me, because even if they don’t like each other, they don’t have to get along, only Taylor and Sparano have to coexist, and from all I’ve heard, they have a good relationship so far. If JT decides to go public with his desire to be traded, or the team makes it known that Taylor has requested a trade, then I’ll believe it. But when it’s coming from a writer, its smoke with no fire as far as I’m concerned. Just relax a little and don’t get so worked up over another Jason Cole report of Jason Taylor’s hatred for all things Dolphin.

few things

lets look at what I wrote… never said JT= the OZ … “starting to creep down into the OZ realm”

J Cole isn’t making ‘everything up’ – lets be honest here… J Cole is JT unpaid official press agent… they have a long history of talking and J Cole has always done a good job reporting… So most of what J Cole reports is what JT tells him is going on. (at least that’s how I see it)

Mort has a close relationship with BP – so count Mort as BP’s unofficial press agent… when BP wants to say something he’ll drop it on mort… Now Mort is the only one with the crowded room story – so is it likely that BP new JT was there and ignored him – YUP cause if it wasn’t i’m sure BP would have discussed it with JT … but the reality is BP isn’t happy with JT and he likes these public messages to make points with players…. So once again my view is that BP drops a little bone to mort (oops didn’t see him) and creates a soft landing in the event JT comes back into the fold…

Now the reality of the situation is JT shouldn’t be skipping these sessions. He is needed to work with and develop the young guys (JLo in particular) and his skipping these sessions because he is going golfing is pretty classless… He has 2 years left on his contract. He is paid VERY WELL to be a Dolphin and I don’t recall him saying my contract sucks when he signed it… so it’s time for him to start acting like a professional football player again…. and just because in the past he hasn’t doesn’t mean he’s incapable of being an ocho zippo.

Agreed.

This is exactly what I said last week. And I’ll state it again. IF all that is being reported by Jason Cole is true, or turns out to be true, then the only difference between Chad Johnson and Jason Taylor is how they went about trying to get traded. So we give JT brownie points for going about it in a more “classy” manner. However, I’m inclined to take a Bill Parcells stance in this…if you don’t want to be on my team I have no use for you and I won’t do what’s best for you, but what’s best for my team.

hmm..

we seem to disagree a lot lately lol but I’ll keep it going because I really don’t see the need for all the anger towards JT when there’s plenty of other veteran players missing voluntary workouts for reasons that are worse than charity golf events.

First off, the title of your post was JT=Ocho Zippo + uno, which sounds to me like your comparing him to CJ especially when the only difference is that ,while CJ rants to the press, JT apparently has hired somebody in the press to rant for him.

I’m not sure JT needs an unpaid press agent when he has an agent he already pays for situations like this. That just seems very unlikely. And I would put more stock in what Mort says than what J.Cole puts out. And Parcells “public messages” have always come from his own press conferences, which he hasn’t had since getting the job. If he was unhappy with JT, he wouldn’t go through a press agent to say it, he would have it come straight from his mouth. Also, it’s not BP’s job to discuss anything with Taylor unless its a contract issue, which hasn’t come up in any stories so far. It’s Sparano’s job to interact with Taylor, which he says he has done regularly, and Taylor has said the same.

The “reality” of the situation is that JT has earned his right to pursue other interests during the offseason, and from the looks of the schedules he could very well be there for the 3 day voluntary minicamp at the end of May. We have other vets that can work with the new guys, specifically Holliday, Porter, Ferguson, and Torbor, just on the defensive side. JT is not the only guy who can impart wisdom on the young guys, and I wouldn’t call contributing to charitable organization classless. Now he hasn’t missed anything as of yet, because the only camp/practice/OTA we’ve had so far is a rookie minicamp. So it’s not time to rip him apart because he’s making public appearances during the offseason.

There's a nuance here that is being missed.

And it is – I’m doing what is best for me, not for the team, but I want the team to do what is best for me, not what is best for the team.

Hit enter too early.

I don’t believe people are “angry” at JT for missing OTA’s. I think they are “angry” at the reports, if the are true, of him requesting a trade. They want him to be a part of the revival of this franchise, not to jump ship when they need him the most.

good point

I can agree with that. I just feel like until there’s some proof put to these reports, I’m not buying it. Cole is the same guy that said Taylor and the Dolphins have agreed to part ways before the draft, and the only thing we’ve heard come out of the organization is that they’ve “fielded calls” regarding it. So we just have a different view of the media reports I guess. And trust me, if JT comes out and publicly says he wants out, or his agent makes a statement confirming it, or he starts skipping training camp and mandatory workouts, then I’ll be on the other side of the fence ASAP.
