Pats videoed and stole signs ofDolphins and others!!!!
This just put up on Rotoworld...
Contrary to a February 2 report in the Boston Herald, former Patriots videotape assistant Matt Walsh does not have film of the Rams' Super Bowl XXXVI walkthrough.
Walsh gave the NFL eight videos of opponents' coaches from 2000-2002. The tapes show the Patriots stealing offensive and defensive signals in regular-season games against the Dolphins, Bills, Browns, and Chargers, and the Steelers in the 2002 AFC Championship. Walsh's attorney says his client never claimed to have a tape of the Rams' walkthrough and was not the "unnamed source" in the Herald's story. The NFL has not yet commented. Source: New York Times Here's hoping the NFL punishes them again.

this story just needs to be over with
i hate the pats as much as anyone… but this is just tiresome. they got caught, they were punished, it’s over. whether or not anybody thinks the punishment was enough is really besides the point.
and the bottom line is i really don’t think that all this was the reason for their success. if that was the case they would have fallen apart after week 3 last year… personally, i am just looking forward to this story going away.

Agreed
This is just as bad as the Roger Clemens Saga, if not worse just because its about my favorite sport. As much as I (or anyone) hates the Patriots, I think most people want to see them beat on the field, not in a courtroom. This issue is bad for the league as a whole, not just New England as everybody seems to believe. It puts a black eye on the NFL for casual viewers who only hear about this issue during the offseason. We can hate on BB and the Pats all day long, but at the end of the day (Sparano-ism) they are what every NFL team wants to be on the field. I can be impartial on this issue and say that videotaping is not the reason NE has been the class of the league this decade, great coaching and great personnel work are. We have a great FO now, and from all indications the right coaches in place to be on that level in a few years, and I hope our success isn’t marred by the perception that every team cheats and every victory is questioned like every Home Run is in MLB.
By the way.. fxxk the Pats go Dolphins lol

I do thank “hotrod” for posting this, as I was out when this story broke. But I refuse to front-page this because I’m just tired of it.
I will say, though, that the Pats could face more penalties. Remember, they lost their 1st round pick this year for just the Jets tape. If there are others, I’d expect them to lose more and more draft picks.

Wait a second...
So all of a sudden it’s no big deal because there wasn’t any tape of the super bowl walkthrough, but there IS tape of the AFC Championship game. Isn’t that just as bad?

Update-no more puinishment
The NFL confirmed that the tapes turned in by former video assistant Matt Walsh will not be used to levy more punishment against the Patriots.
“This is consistent with what the Patriots had admitted they had been doing, consistent with what we already knew,” league spokesman Greg Aiello said.

The NFL gets a preferred status when it comes to anti-trust laws in the U.S. There needs to be full accountability when it comes to such things.
The only way that this can be rectified is that the Patriots will be given automatic losses to all those teams this year (if they play).
And the Dolphins should get the 2002 Super Bowl.
And Tom Brady should be forced to admit he’s incredibly boring.
I am kidding about all this by the way. Everything except the anti-trust status, which is real.

Brady note
saw a picture of him attending some event with his girlfriend on ESPN, and he had dracula-style slicked back hair. I’m still laughing at him

im kinda tired
of the puiblicity over this as well, but u gotta admit that it was pretty class A chicken **... i mean what, they were thinking the NFL would smile upon these actions??? and i agree, AFC championship is every bit as bad as a super bowl… i bet las vegas is interested in all of this, as there is a sig. amt. of $ that changes hands over playoff games… and it is usually par for the course that other ‘discrepencies’ will surface as well in the future w/ BB’s regime.. only time will tell, but, when ppl display symptoms of ‘Not Honorable’ it usually runs much deeper… kinda like ‘ugly’,... goes clean to the bone…. Belicheat
I’m happy that this has proven to be repeated behavior from Belicheat. So cheating is the magic! I’m so sick of hearing how he is so smart. He was is a cheat and he got caught. Now we know this was normal SOP in Foxborough. “No one ajusts at halftime. . . I mean watches film and gets the other teams signals like Belicheat.”

I do believe that the Patriots have won with talent and good personnel moves but to say (like another poster did) that they won becuase of these two things alone is false IMHO. They also won by cheating. They were good but they also had an edge and I beleive it did help or he would have stopped doing it. He obviously thought it helped or he would not have spent so much time and resources on cheating. Look, they benefitted from good coaching, good players, good effort, and good scouting (cheating) . To discount the cheating is ignorant. To say that it was minimal because there are only 9 tapes ignores that there were most likely more but this is all we have to go on. I’m sure these tapes only scratch the surface of what he was doing.

the sad thing is
Goodell will sweep this under the rug because he knows how widespread this is.
Oh well, maybe the next commish wont be a joke.
