Dolphins Minicamp

[Editors Note by Matty I] This was originally posted by Little Nicky.  I just edited it for front-page posting.  Also, here's the link to some more info on each player.  [end note]

I'm disappointed that the rookie minicamps aren't open to the public.  I'm not sure how they've done it in years past, but I would definitely attend this year's if they allowed it.  My question is, how can we get Matty a media credential? lol.  Any ideas?  I want a first hand account of how the rookies look instead of getting a recap on the radio from a clueless Joe Rose or a drunk Jim Mandich.

Anyway..  Here's the final list of signings and tryouts for the rookie minicamp this weekend.  The team officially announced 14 signings and 4 tryouts through UDFA.

Signings

  1. Davone Bess WR (Hawaii)
  2. Titus Brown LB (Miss. St.)
  3. Mike Byrne OL (Delaware)
  4. Dan Carpenter K (Montana)
  5. Jayson Foster QB/WR (Georgia Southern)
  6. Dan Gore OL (Boise St.)
  7. Daren Heerspink OL (Portland St.)
  8. Aaron Lane CB (Purdue)
  9. Selwyn Lymon WR (Purdue)
  10. Matt Mulligan TE (Maine)
  11. Kelly Poppinga LB (BYU)
  12. Kory Robertson DT (VA Tech)
  13. Marcel Reese WR (Washington)
  14. Justin Wynn WR (Grand Rapids Comm. College)

Tryouts

  1. Willie Copeland QB (Valdosta St.)
  2. Kris Kasparek TE (Akron)
  3. Rolly Lumbala FB (Idaho)
  4. Scorpio Babers CB (Sam Houston St.)

Hey

I resemble that remark about Jim Mandich!

Most Intriguing.

1. Foster – The future “X Factor”? Doesn’t it seem like all the big time teams have at least one of these do-it-all type players? I look forward to watching The Miami Lightning this season.
2. Bess – We’re going to quickly grow tired of hearing the words “system player”, but anyone with above-average hands and THAT much production in college warrants at least a shot.
3. Poppinga – Comes from a great athletic background (Brothers Casey and Brady and father Dennis all played at least college ball, and you all know about Brady), and possess the size that the Trifecta is looking for. It may be a tremendous leap of faith, but for some reason I see big things for this guy.

1 more to watch

Scorpio Babers CB Sam Houston St. —Speedy corners alway have a chance in this league and he must have done something to even be invited.

and speaking of which...

...once training camp rolls around, we need to find some “official Phinsider camp reporters.”

anybody up for it that plan on attending a good number of practices?

Ugh.

I envy you all… I live in western Massachusetts. I don’t think I’ve ever actually met another fan of the Dolphins in person. Living with and around Patriots fans during their chase for perfection was one of the worst sports experiences of my life.

to run around making 18-1 jokes now huh? or is it dangerous?

18-1*

Haha, I have the full-page “Got Milk?” Michael Strahan ad they ran in the USA Today the Monday after the Superbowl on my wall with a little speech bubble that says “18-1*!” Other than that, I keep my mouth shut most of the time, because they did still destroy Miami twice. I get more trouble for being a Yankee fan in “Red Sox Nation”, though.

I’ve seen the Dolphins play once. December 2000 in Foxboro, the game we clinched our last AFC East title.

I will see the Dolphins win a SUPER BOWL before i die(20 years and counting)
